Had my hair coloured and blow dried today, my neighbour does it (she is a qualified hairdresser although she is now retired) for £25. The colour is lovely, although I am almost 69 the dark brown I have always had (and is like my original hair colour) still looks good. She says it suits me, and that she will tell me when it doesn't! Same with the length, it is halfway down my back. I think I would need a general anaesthetic to have it cut. Unlike most hairdressers she only takes as much off as necessary, it has got much longer since she has been doing it.
I have not worn make-up since I was a teenager, I just stopped using it one day and have never re-started. I do moisturise my face and neck every day, my legs sometimes. I really need to do my back though, it itches and my husband then has to put aloe vera gel on it.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

We're all on the mend it seems yayy! I have felt much better tonight but not in time for night out Boo! So I decided to go to Asda, ostensibly for dvd as telly is rubbish and get myself out for a walk in the fresh air. Bought myself "Book club" which looks like fun. While I was there I hit on the reduced section (guys were just bringing out the cage) managed to get my hands on 3x chicken roasts (fresh small chicken, stuffing balls and pork sausages) a fresh lasagne, Fresh cottage pie (serves two), Large pack of minced beef, 24 pack of fresh meatballs, pack of beef sausages, Haggis truffles. All for the wonderful price of 10p each. So I spent £1 on enough dinners to last a month at least. Have separated them out and froze them, leaving more money to fab myself up. Did I mention I love going to the college for massages and facials, well every Monday in February I am booked for a Liz Earle facial to be followed by a Galvanic body treatment, costing me £20 all in, no not per treatment, total cost. I feel so clever lol.:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o
Well except mastered my mortgage 5 yrs early :T:j

Crikey. Teedy what bargains. Fantastic.
Good morning lovely Ladies.
Well I've made a decision......time to start painting the kitchen. Going to go and buy paint today. It's a massive job and it will take me weeks because I'm going to have nurse my poor old decrepit body and pace myself.
I shall think of it as extra exercise.:D.
Have a great day.0 -
Hard a lovely meal out with grandsons, they are early teens and bright boys so had some interesting discussions about things they are doing in history and topical stuff from the news. I love all the stages, cuddling the babies, playing with the little ones and seeing them turning into the adults they will be. What a joy.
Moll, thank you it is wonderful to be feeling so much better. I think I am off to get a few bits from the shops this morning. Last week that felt like an almost impossible task.0 -
I've lost another couple of pounds and I'm finally under 13 stone! Wow, it's been years since I was this "slim". I want to get to about 10 and a half stone or 11 stone as I feel I look quite good at that weight. I'm quite curvy so it looks a bit strange if I'm too slim.:D
I've lost 3 stone now in 2 years. I think that is quite good considering I had fibromyalgia for most of it and could hardly move for quite a while!
I'm going to start exercising tomorrow and that will really help with the weight loss.:Alessonlearned wrote: »Anyway after reading up I have decided to give it a go. I have to say there's a lot more choice for vegans now than there was even just a couple of years ago. I m going to give it a whirl. I figure what have I got to lose.
Sainsbury's had loads of choice so I'm trying a "cheddar" and a "Halloumi". I don't drink cows milk anymore, just a splash in my tea. I will continue to eat eggs now and then. I will still eat small amounts of meat and fish and plenty of vegetables and salads. I can now manage grains once in a while and can cope better with nightshades so cutting out dairy shouldn't be too restrictive. I've already reduced the amount of dairy I eat anyway.
Yes, the range for vegans is absolutely brilliant now.:) It was a bit different when I went vegan 13 years ago!:rotfl:0 -
Hello lovely ladies, I always read here, even though RL has taken most of my energy and left me too brain fuzzy to contribute.
My fabbing has been more on than off, although I have had a few occasions (like yesterday) when I stayed in PJ's and dressing gown all day.
When I became quite poorly 3 /4 years ago my hair became much thinner and I was brushing loads out each day:eek: when I eventually got diagnosis and treatments I began to absorb nutrients again and it came back:j I now take a prescribed med for my RA which can cause hair loss so my hairdresser is under notice to keep me updated how she thinks things are looking (so far so good).
Sorry this is becoming long winded, each week I get notification of a blog by the founder of a company which produces make up and now skin care better suited for ageing skin and the last two week have concentrated on our "crowning glory". I feel that it might be useful to some, the link is here
I have no affiliation to this company but, I like the products I have tried so far and there are also some very good tutorials.
Today my hair is getting a day off from styling with heat, the cut is good and it looks presentable, if not quite as stylish as usual:)
Happy Sunday all, sadly damp and miserable here:(The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Thanks for the good wishes. I'm certainly feeling no worse today. I'm keeping up with the paracetamol/Lemsip and drinking plenty of water to keep hydrated.:)lessonlearned wrote: »Well I've made a decision......time to start painting the kitchen. Do pace yourself carefully LL and when you do the ceiling ask one of your DSs to help or use one of those rollers on a pole. I may have posted before that we painted our kitchen to refresh it and give it some life until I could decide on a replacement. We'd recently visited Giverny so I used Monet's dining room as inspiration, painting all the units in two shades of yellow.
It worked well and I found the easiest way to get a good finish on the doors was to take them off, prop them up on tins of food from the kitchen and paint them horizontal on a table. Less stretching too.:)Wednesday2000 wrote: »

Well done on the weightloss!:T This may sound like a dumb question but what did you eat that made you put on weight? Knowing that things like chocolate and cakes and cheese would be off the menu I'm curious. Or is there special junk food for vegans?:D
I know what you mean about a weight that you 'look good at'. For my height, I know I look good in a size 12. Any thinner and I start to look a bit gaunt and my inner thighs and arms get a bit wrinkly. That's where I am at the moment (having deliberately lost a few pounds since Christmas) . I want to be at the bottom of my preferred weight before I go away as then it allows for any gains as I'll have little control over food.
Thanks for that link Maddie. I'm reasonably happy with my hair but anything to make it a bit thicker would be useful. I'll read it shortly. Do you wash your hair every day?
Interesting that you normally wear your hair very short humpty. My hair isn't thick enough to wear really long but I've experimented with various looks over the years. The best choice I made was to grow out most of the layers (although kept fringe). It's in a bob, more or less chin length at the front but cut in at the back.
Despite not being able to taste/smell anything I'm going out for tea this afternoon. I've decided to wear my Zara maxi dress but unbutton the front a bit (at the bottom!) as I'm going to wear leggings and my black suede boots. It's a glorious day here, sunny and bright so it'll be good to get out for a while.:)0 -

Yes, there is lots of vegan junk food, chocolate, biscuits, crisps, cakes etc...:rotfl: I was just comfort eating because my husband was ill and then I became ill and I could hardly even walk for more than 15 minutes because of the fibromyalgia.
I really like my food (and alcohol!) so I need to do quite a lot of exercise to compensate if I want to stay at a healthy weight.
I know the weight will come off really quickly when I start using my mini trampoline tomorrow. It's amazing exercise. I read that elite astronauts use it before they go into space.:)2025 GOALS
