Good morning lovely ladies.
SUgarbaby......you have inspired me. Yesterday I did another mini wardrobe sort out. What you say about sizing is true, there is so much variation. My clothes vary from size 10 to 18 - if it fits, its my size.
Anyway I've got a bag of clothes and old curtains and a bag of books ready to drop off today.
Yes, December can be a strain, I need to pace myself too. I'm very tired and really sore and stiff at the moment. I must make time to do some yoga and sort my body out. Try and book a massage too.
Today I'm going to revamp my kitchen cupboards - before I start my Christmas food shopping. I reorganised my cupboards a few weeks ago but they aren't working for me, so I'll tweak them again.
Busy, busy, busy.0 -
Another lovely bright day here. I missed out on the walk as there was no way I was going to fit that in and get everything else done.
Fortunately we had a bit of a walk to and from the football last night so that'll have to do,
I hadn't thought about having clothes in different sizes sugarbaby. When I put on weight I kept a very few size 12 items. That was mostly decent stuff like a couple of silk tea dresses and a velvet coat. I then bought a load of much cheaper/more disposable items as I worked my way up to a large size 16 (it was the thought of buying 18s that gave me my LBM). Now everything I have fits my current size. Of course they don't all say size 12 on the label. I buy things that fit regardless of apparent size.
We're out at a Christmas meal tonight. Usually with this group we go to an organised event with music. Last year it was a mediaeval banquet but it was hideous. We decided we wanted to be able to talk to each other! So this year we've organised a private room in a decent pub which is renowned for its food. I still want to look festive though so I plan to wear my long, black chiffon skirt with my glittery 'vest'. :xmassmile
We have another Christmas meal next week, Nativity musical on Saturday and I'm off to a couple of dances but I hope to fit in some quieter days with DH as well. I'm hoping to either go to some NT properties or possibly Osborne House to see the Christmas decorations. Are you going to Chatsworth this year LL?
Must crack on. I have to write some cards for the people we'll see tonight. Saves a fortune on stamps.:money:0 -
I got my period four days early today so my shopping trip was cancelled as the tablets I take wipe me out. I will see how I feel tomorrow. I'm sure my periods seem disrupted since I've started the thyroid medication.
I was looking online at The Body Shop and Superdrug for hydrating products and realised I have a "B" Superdrug hydrating product upstairs.
I have put on my makeup now but I will try it tonight after I clean my face.:)
I agree with the crazy sizing in shops. I have clothes in size 12, 14, 16 and one cardigan in size 18!0 -
Not decided about Chatsworth yet. Think we might give it a miss this year.m
Tbh Christmas has really caught me a bit unawares this year. I'm a bit behind with preparations. My family are all really busy too. DS2 with his new job and his college course, that takes up 6 days a week plus home study, his girlfriend is a nurse and has been having to do extra shifts. As for DIL and DS1 and the baby.....well I don't think they know whether they are coming or going. :rotfl:
We have got 3 big family events lined up, Christmas Eve in a big fancy hotel, Christmas Day here and NYE at DS1s house plus we need to try and squeeze in something for DILs birthday on 18th December.
And then of course I decided to let the decorator come next week.....what was I thinking....... Although it will be fab to get the lounge done. It's not been touched for years and it's currently a dismal coffee/beige/brown - so dark and depressing. I'm really looking forward to letting in more light and colour.
(Aiming to start painting the fire surround tomorrow so it's done in readiness for the decorator to do the walls).
So we might give Chatsworth a miss this year. I'll go if they want to but I'm really not that bothered this time round.
Did an Aldi shop today, finally made a start on buying some Christmas food. Don't want to leave it all till the last minute.
Dropped off a bag of clothes and a bag of books at my favourite charity shop. Didn't intend buying anything but spotted two nice art canvases for my "dressing room". Fashion prints, not vintage Vogue which is what I would really like but they are just too expensive.
The ones I bought are reproduction "vintage style" and at £1 each, they will do the job nicely. I also spotted a canvas of pansies......really colourful and they are an original. Ok only an amateur artist but very pretty. Again £1.
Three nice paintings for the price of a cup of coffee.....you can't beat it can you.
Absolutely shattered now and my back aches so a quiet afternoon, reading and pottering about. Got a curry in the slow cooker, so a nice easy dinner.0 -
So I said I didn't go out shopping today so I ended up looking online for stuff instead.:o:D I saw a really nice black faux leather jacket from Wallis and I found a discount code and it is also free delivery for tomorrow. I used to shop at Wallis but actually forgot that shop existed!
I managed to book an Asda grocery delivery slot for the 23rd of December so that is another thing out of the way to do to prepare for Christmas.
I have used the "B" hydrating cream this afternoon and then layered my normal moisturiser on top and it seems to have worked as my skin looks less dry already. Thanks Maddiemay for that great tip.
I also thought that maybe I should start putting sun protection on my face each day. I used to do that religiously but stopped when I had a vitamin D deficiency. It probably will protect my skin from the elements when it is very cold. I will start that tomorrow.:T
I'm having a bath tonight and will defuzz and put on body butter afterwards.2025 GOALS

Like you, I used to shop a lot in Wallis Wednesday. AFAIK they still have a concession in Debenhams locally but their stand alone shops are long gone. Hope you're pleased with your jacket when it arrives.
We enjoyed our Christmas meal last night. I had a compliment on my sparkly top. Little did they know it was a repurposed vest.
I'm really looking forward to a night in, it'll be the first this week. Tomorrow I'm going to the musical Nativity. My DD has loved the films so she's really looking forward to it.
Today I've just pottered about sorting paperwork and other bits that have been neglected lately. I plan to do my food shopping later. A pleasingly normal day.:D0 -
Hello Ladies,
I am almost finished wrapping all of the Christmas presents for my children, my grandchildren and other family. I will finish the last few tomorrow.I am absolutely exhausted.
I still have this chesty cough and sore throat, but I am taking over the counter medication and getting on with what I need to do.
I put the new duvets I bought on mine and my daughter's beds. They are lovely and they were a real bargain from Groupon.
I have to go to Brixton Marks & Spencer tomorrow to collect the items I bought for my son in law's Christmas presents, after consulting my daughter about what he would prefer to have. I will then get the presents wrapped up before my older son arrives with his 2 daughters to collect all of the birthday and Christmas presents and take them to Andover for me.0 -
Good morning ladies, Sugarbaby, like you I have a horrid chesty cold and very sore throat which has put paid to my trip out to monthly charity coffee morning, it also means that I cannot visit mum in her old people's home. I will potter around here, yesterday I decided to start on the room of doom (spare bedroom) which is a total dumping ground.
You have all inspired me to look again at what I have in the way of clothes and shoes (far too much). Living in a chalet bungalow means that we have 2 bedrooms which cannot house wardrobes, OH has 1 downstairs and I have a large Ikea unit for seasonal clothes and the really good coats and dresses that I really don't want to store folded. I can now admit to 27 cashmere jumpers,3 cashmere cardis and several other wool/cashmere/silk mixed ones, all have been collected over a very long period of time and worn and loved.
I had hoped to reply individually to several comments, but my left hand has reached it's limit for the present, will try and catch up later - the joys of arthritis:eek:The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
I have been watching X-Files (an old 90s show) and looking at the lead actress Gillian Anderson. She is much skinnier than me
but she is curvy and her colouring is quite similar to mine as she is pale with blue eyes. Her hair is much more red than mine.
I was looking at what colours flatter her and it seems to be olive green, purple, red, blues and contrasting black and white. I have ordered some olive green and intense violet dye. I am going to have to go out shopping for clothes to dye soon!:rotfl:
She is much more blonde now. I know she was a British show called The Fall if anyone saw that.
I hope those photos show up. I couldn't work out how to post an image. My husband isn't here to tell me!
I do really like the new jacket Maman. Wallis seems to have good quality clothes. I much prefer it to the cheaper George biker jacket I have.
I hope you feel better soon Sugarbaby and Maddie.2025 GOALS

[Wednesday a quick g0ogle search suggests that Gillian is a ‘spring’ in terms of colour analysis. If you do a search, you will see what colours best suit someone with that colouring and may be inspired.
Maddie/sugar sishing you both a speedy recovery.0
