  • Hello Ladies,

Yesterday my grandson and his new girlfriend came to visit me and we all had such a laugh together. I was impressed with how relaxed she was at meeting me for the 1st time. :D

When she realised that I was almost the same age as her Dad who is 58 years old to my 57 years old, she said in an astonished voice 'my Dad is old, but your not old, your young'. I was really pleased at such a lovely compliment from her. :D

I had to get my grandson to try on the Superdry jacket that I bought him for his main Christmas present, as I had to ensure it was a good fit. It was perfect and my grandson absolutely loved it, so now he is excited at the thought of opening his presents on Christmas Day. :D

In the evening I went to the pub in Lewisham Way for a night of dancing. I danced my legs off. I had a really great evening :D

That's quite a compliment sugrababy. I'm sure the way you put her at her ease and had many topics of conversation helped to take any nervousness away.:)

That sounds like a good evening curling up on the sofa LL. I like to do that when I'm at home in the evening. I've been disappointed recently though as there seem to be so few TV programmes on that I enjoy. Has anyone seen anything interesting lately? We don't have Netflix or anything like that although I'm considering it for perhaps watching The Crown?

I read an interesting article in my paper this morning. It was ostensibly abut the wisdom of companies marketing to older people as in many cases they may have more disposable income than the younger generation. It mentioned a conference where Tricia Cusden spoke. She writes a blog called 'look fabulous forever' and also sells make up which focuses on making the best of yourself rather than trying to find the elixir of youth.

I've not had a chance to read it myself yet but it looks interesting. :)

I've had time for a proper pamper this morning as it's the first day for over a week with no real demands on my time. I've put the flaxseed oil on my face as I'm sure being outdoors all week has dried it. This week I have two events coming up. Both are fairly casual so I need to think about what to wear.

It's a gloriously sunny day here. Hope you're all enjoying the weekend.:)
  • I bought a new eye shadow palette and I really like all the new colours.:) That hardly ever happens.

My skin on my face is still really dry.:( I bought a new jar of Skyn Iceland cream from M&S when I went out in Romford last month and it's nearly used up so will have to try a new brand as it's obviously not working.
I did good on lunch - I made a chickpea and veg curry which I had with yoghurt and mint raita, hm flatbreads, papaya and mango salsa topped off with sliced avocado.....all nice and healthy plus the curry was made from leftovers so no food is being wasted

    Sounds delish!:A

I used to go that way home from school.:D

  • Lol. I was just looking on Am*zon for a new moisturiser and saw a review for Olay firming cream.

Bought it for my girlfriends 40th birthday. They really should change the jar to a non glass jar, it hurts when it gets thrown at you!!!! On the plus side she doesn't look a day over 39 now.

    Love it!:D

It's another glorious day here, bright and crisp.:)

It's promised to be dry tonight when we go to Gin and Jingle Bells. It's a guided walk around our city's medieval wine vaults followed by gin tasting so part of the evening will be outdoors. My plan is to wear my long, black wool coat for the first time this year with my Cath Kidston tartan scarf. Underneath I'll wear black jeans and my pale pink angora jumper. I might wear a thermal layer underneath which I can always take off if the venue is hot. As it's an evening do I'll probably wear some foundation/tinted moisturiser so slightly more make up than usual. :)

I hemmed the neckline of my new thermal top last night and I'm pleased with that for later in the week.

Sorry this is all a bit me. me,, me. I hope everyone had a good weekend and is enjoying the build up to the festive season.:xmastree:

    Beautiful day here too.

Had my haircut today. That's the 4th cut now with my current hairdresser and I have to say it's looking the best it has done in years having now grown into a really nice shape. Not the cheapest hairdresser but as I don't have it coloured now I feel I can push the boat out a bit and go for a really good cut.

Had a bit of a shopping splurge. Two grape coloured skirts, a grape lace dress and a cream/taupe coloured top. £1 each from the Cancer Research shop

    Then I popped into Primark.

I must say they seem to be excelling themselves this autumn/winter. There are times when I can go in and I hate it all because everything just looks horrible, cheap nasty fabrics and garish colours, but they had some lovely things in there today. Their quality control seems much better this year.

I bought a mustard coloured Crombie style coat, it's only polyester but it feels nice to the touch, a raspberry pink sloppy joe sweater, a winter white knitted dress (so cosy), a scarf to match the new coat, a fur collar thingy, and some new pyjamas. £62 the lot.

Ok I don't expect the coat to last a decade like my really good coats but as it is such a fashionable colour and cut that doesn't really matter. I'm still wearing my cheap Asda Teddy Bear Crombie from last year. I was going to get rid because it is actually a size 18 when I'm now a 14 but because of the cut it's fine with a big chunky sweater underneath so I'm glad I kept it. And it's wearing well, doesn't look tatty. Tbh I didn't expect it to last more than a season but it still looks fine.

But then, I do looks after my clothes....No floordrobe for me.

A friend of mine sent me a newspaper article which was saying that apparently there has been a backlash against Marie Kondos teachings about tidiness. It showed pictures of people's bedrooms with clothes piled high in crumpled heaps or strewn over the floor.

Call me old fashioned and maybe I am a bit OCD but I think even cheap clothes can last longer and look better if we take a few minutes to hang them up properly and take care of them. ;)

They sound like some great additions to your wardrobe LL . It's a good feeling being able to buy things after losing weight.:D

I'm still a fan of some of MK's principles. I sort of go along with things needing to bring joy (although I'm closer to William Morris's practical and beautiful). I'm definitely with her on the decluttering and one of the best things I've done is to order my tops and jumpers, folded the MK way in the drawers. :)

I like to take care of my clothes too. Just recently I've been covering more padded coat hangers as they are so much better for clothes than metal or plastic hangers. I'm making some for a couple of friends too. We don't really do Christmas presents anymore (except for DGDs) but we do exchange token gifts over lunch with some friends. Last year I did fancy biscuits and a previous year I embroidered bags for Scrabble letters. So nothing expensive but practical or beautiful! :D

    Hello Ladies,

I am still trying to get every inch of my bedroom cleaned, but I did manage to tackle the short rail and the floor space around it and underneath it. :)

I was shocked to discover that there are actually 69 tops, 3 jackets and 10 cardigans and jumpers on that rail.

I took each item off the rail and stored them in 2 neat piles on my bed. Then I had the task of cleaning all of the hangers after removing each item of clothing on the hanger. I made sure any dust was brushed off each item of clothing before I put them back on the hanger. I cleaned every part of the clothes rail and dried it all down with a towel before rehanging all of the items of clothing. :D

I had to have a rethink about the inventory of my clothing and so I am doing a photo inventory so that it will not be so time consuming and I can see what I own in a far more accessible way.

I am going to find time to do the full length clothes rail and the large chest of drawers in my bedroom and get the both of them cleaned and organised, before the end of this year. I will most probably have to tackle the other 2 full length rails and my storages boxes full of clothing until the new year as I want to concentrate on Christmas now.

LL, I am with you, I would never throw an item of clothing on the floor.

Wow SUgarbaby.....you have been busy. That's a lot of tops. ;). You're a woman after my own heart. I couldn't really do a capsule wardrobe. I like lots of choice.

I had to laugh today in Primark. I was holding the white knitted dress up deciding whether or not to buy, when a lady standing next to me said how lovely it was and what a great price - £15. I agreed and said I didn't really need it, but it was too good to pass. She then laughed and said "I don't need anything either, I've got 4 double wardrobes full".

I will wear it though and love it.....that's what matters isn't it.

I shall call it my Doris Day dress. There is a Rock Hudson/Doris Day film called Pillow Talk and she wears a white knitted dress just like it. First time I saw that film I fell in love with that dress. Well now I've got one. :rotfl:

Maman - I'm more William Morris than Marie Kondo too. I don't like a room to look clinical. I like ornament, pattern, texture, colour.

The decorator rang and said he's got a cancellation and can give me 4 days next week. I have decided to leave the kitchen till the new year, because it's a huge job and will be a bit too disruptive in the run up to Christmas. I'll get him to do the lounge instead. I won't have time to sort out the accessories now but I can dress it for Christmas and then accessorise it properly in the new year.

Maman you asked about TV programmes. I agree there's not much on the main channels at the moment, although I am saving up Dark Materials for later. I tend to record stuff too and save them for when there's not much on. I've got several series and films that I've not watched yet.

Tonight I'm watching a "Love Actually" on Prime. I do like soppy Christmas movies and watch all my old favourites In December.
