maman regarding English Heritage, I’m a bit of a history buff, so I like visiting the rough and ready castles as opposed to the pretty palaces.

I love Dover Castle for its long history. It’s very hilly and windy, so it’s a bit more of an active day out. Nearby Walmer Castle has beautiful grounds and is a much more relaxing day out.

We didn’t visit any new property’s this year, We just stuck to places we had been before. I really want to go to Stonehenge and Avebury, but I never got around to getting my behind in gear to go. I will have to make a point of going as my nearly 10 year old is getting bored of being dragged around historic sites. We went to the Tower of London at the weekend and I had some low level moaning from him - not quite full on peasant rebellion. Yet. But it won’t be long.
  • I wore my new faux leather jacket out yesterday to test how warm it is and I was surprised that it felt warmer than my coats.:T

Tomorrow night I'm going to wear my new pencil skirt with patterned tights, boots and my new black turtle neck jumper along with my new jacket. I wanted to go out first to buy some larger hoop earrings but it is supposed to be heavy rain all day here tomorrow so I ordered some from Am*zon instead!:D

My skin is so much better now I'm using the hydrating cream before my moisturiser.

We have booked the dogs in to the vet to board for a night a couple days after Christmas so we will go out somewhere. We will probably see a film and go for a meal together.

Wednesday - so pleased that your skin is loving your new regime. Great that you have a safe place for your dogs to stay so that you can enjoy time away. Miss M is 10 and never been to kennels, sometimes she stays with friends who adore her, but they are away a lot and I do feel we miss out sometimes. Fortunately most of our trips are in our touring caravan, she loves being taken new places with lots of interesting walks.

Chanie - we are fortunate to visit lots of places in the UK and both love history, gardens, industrial heritage etc, both EH and NT have reciprocal agreements in Wales and Scotland so we get really good value from both of our memberships. Dover Castle and Walmer are a long stretch for us so not made i to them yet.

LL - you are making fantastic progress with your house renovations, it will be great when you get to the Fun bit soon

maman - your hand crafted gifts sound so lovely, I am sure that your friends will appreciate them. My transplant rellie is now doing well and I will PM you in a few days with the things I extracted from DM, I get a few snippets at a time when I visit her:)

silvasava - when my colours were matched all those years ago the palettes they matched me against were pretty limited, more just basic colours and not the variation in tones, in those days I was much younger, vibrant and had much more colour, a few years of illness including anaemia has left me rather pale and pasty, which I subtly improve with make up, so don't know if I have crossed over, or if the original match was not so good, there are so many colours that I now know are "me" that I don't make bad choices nowadays.

sugarbaby - I do so hope that your cold and the arthritis pain are improving for you, all this wet doesn't help me, prefer drier and crisper weather.

It was great advice, thanks again. I have bookmarked that link on skin care you put on here to refer to if I need to.:)

I do feel like having our rescue dogs has severely impacted on our social life. We have had them since 2011 and we only found out our vet did boarding last year! We have taken advantage of that in the past year and have had lots of nights out since then to make up for the years of staying in at home with them! :rotfl: It works out quite expensive, though.

    You're incorrigible!!:rotfl:

Glad to hear your skin is improved. I wouldn't be without my serum. :)

Thanks for the EH input. I must admit to liking the 'pretty palaces' more though.;)

Looking forward to hearing from you Maddie.:)

Jumper dresses seem to be very much a 'thing' again this year. I know LL has bought a couple and I used to like them. Unfortunately I seem to have gone off high necked styles in anything (jumpers, tops etc) so I'll have to have a careful look. :)

I've had a good pamper session this morning. I've an event coming up on Saturday where I'll be wearing a sleeveless top (dancing so I'll get hot) so I've been using the fake tan with my body lotion to give me a bit of colour.

I still can't get over how slowly I use up products even though I use everything regularly. I decanted a tiny amount (less than 50 mls) of my Clinique facewash/cleanser into a bottle for travelling almost 3 weeks ago and I still have enough left for at least one more day. As I'd love to keep fewer everyday items out in my new bathroom I'd really like to get down to just the items I love but it takes so long.:( And being mse :money:I feel I have to use everything up to the last drop.;)

Today is a bit of wrapping and a quick visit to the city centre. It's bright at the moment but rain isn't far away. I'm out for a Christmas lunch tomorrow so must plan my outfit for that too. I might dig out my pencil skirt Wednesday. It's the black, textured one from Hush chanie. :D

    Good afternoon lovely ladies.

Loving all the chat and your ideas. Good to see you all still busy fabbing away.

SUgarbaby.....sorry to hear your arthritis is bad again, unfortunately the weather doesn't help much. I know winter has scarcely begun but roll on spring..... :rotfl: gawd that's awful, wishing my life away.

Still it's almost the Solstice, the sun returns to the northern hemisphere and the days gradually lengthen again.

Yes I have invested in several sweater dresses this year. In fact I had a couple last year but they bury me now so I donated them to the chazzer. My new ones really are replacements for last years iyswim.

I do like them, they are lovely and warm. One of the downsides of losing weight, the only downside, is that I seem to feel the cold more. I'm sure I will acclimatise eventually but for now the sweater dresses are nice and cosy.

Like Maman I really prefer v necks but I find cowl necks work well. Now that I've lost weight I can sometimes wear a polo neck without feeling strangled, it just depends on how snug it is.

Just finished one last coat on the fireplace. - 4 undercoats and 2 top coats so a bit of a marathon but it was worth it. It looks so much better than that awful fake mahogany.

Just in the process of setting up the big Christmas tree in the dining room, then I will do the smaller one in the lounge when the decorator has finished. He's just left after having finished for the day. Nice chap, very professional. Glad I've found him. I think I'll get him to do the outside next summer as well. Save me a lot of time and effort that I can put to better use.

As my husband used to say "why have a dog and bark yourself." :rotfl:

Time for lunch and then crack on with the tree.

    I know! :D

I was so frugal for so many years but the last 18 months I have been a nightmare with spending and so has my husband.

I can't remember if I actually said on here what position we were in financially in 2003, we had almost £150,000 debt in mortgage and credit card/store card debt. We paid it all off in 15 years.:T

I just can't get back to budgeting as I know we don't need to do it now.:o:rotfl:

I hope the new year will set me back on the right path.:)

wednesday you have both done unbelievably well. Enjoy yourself.
  • Hello Ladies,

Thankfully my Arthritis pain has finally settled down to a manageable level. My cough and sore throat have really improved although they have not gone yet. :D

I had a Tesco Clubcard Pizza Express voucher for £9 that had almost expired so I decided to treat myself to a classic American pizza and a small bottle of sparkling water on my way to Karaoke in Herne Hill. I only had to pay the £5.15 difference on my bill. :D

I went to Karaoke last night, but they had turned it into a dance night which suited me just fine. :D I could not spend a lot of time on my feet dancing but I did lots of dancing sitting on my chair. :D Some man told the barmaid to ask me if I wanted a drink, so I accepted a bottle of water. :) I did not bother to ask the barmaid which man wanted to buy me a drink :rotfl:

I had my Arthritis review with a GP at my local surgery this morning. It went very well. :D

I am going to the Black Ballad & Nars beauty event this evening. I am feeling nervous and excited. I am really looking forward to it.
  • Thanks Chanie.:A

I'm glad you feel a bit better Sugarbaby.

I got my Wallis delivery yesterday but the pencil skirt I was planning to wear tonight was missing.:(

I looked on Ama*on and the earrings are supposed to be here before 9 pm so they may not arrive in time for me to go out either as I am leaving at 5 pm.

    Annoying!:p

I will have to change my outfit for tonight.

I have put on a "B" hydrating leave on mask on my face and I am about to rub some nourishing hair oil into my hair before washing it later.

I am going to paint my nails red too.

I am going to wear my lower heeled boots tonight as the concert at the Indigo at the O2 is also described as a Christmas party so I assume there may be dancing.
