Hi Fabbers,
I worked the election yesterday, which I always enjoying doing. It was good to see lots of young people coming out to vote, as well. I always enjoy people watching, but I think that the constant rain meant that many people were drenched by the time that came into the polling station.
I'm only at work for another week and then I'm off until the new year. I'm really looking forward to being able to relax and home and get into the Christmas spirit. Plus, I will start to think about my 2020 plans and goals.
Hope everyone is well.0 -
Hello Ladies,
I enjoyed the Black Ballad & NARS beauty event in Spitalfields last night. The make up demonstration was very educational, but it did not tempt me to buy any of the NARS brand of make up. I do not wear make up often to warrant spending money on high end priced make up.
Unfortunately for me there were no chairs so I could not sit down, so it did not take long for me to end up in pain, so I went home early missing out on more than 1 hour of the event.
I woke up this morning and got on with doing my clothing inventory. The full length rail in my bedroom has now been done. I cleaned and dried the rail, dusted off all of the hangers, took a photo of each item, then hung them back on the rail. I hoovered and mopped under the rail.
This full length rail had:
18 dresses, 10 Jackets, 17 skirts, 3 cardigans,1 jumper, 2 coats and 7 tops on it.
The running total so far is: 29 skirts, 10 swimming costumes, 18 dresses, 105 tops, 2 coats, 13 jackets, 17 cardigans and 6 jumpers.
I also sorted and organised all of my handbags. I have:
2 brown leather handbags
7 black leather handbags (5 patent and 2 matt)
2 new with tags black patent leather with rose motif and black and silver handbags
1 black leather bag with white leather piping
1 green leather handbag
5 Navy leather handbags (1 patent) and 1 Navy evening bag
3 Red leather handbags
4 Burgundy leather handbags including 2 new with tags patent leather handbags
1 Purple leather handbag and 1 Purple silk embellished evening bag
1 Silver grey leather handbag
I still have to do an inventory of all of the shoes in my bedroom and clean and organise my chest of drawers and the contents of the drawers before Christmas Eve, then my bedroom will be finished.0 -
Wow - SUgarbaby.......you have done well with your inventory.
Chanie.....the rain on Thursday was dreadful wasn't it. I met my sister and a friend for lunch and it was so bad I decided to get a taxi so I could be dropped outside the door. It came down in stair rods for most of the day:rotfl: luckily I had voted first thing before the rain got too bad.
Lounge now finished. Wahoo.:T. It has definitely gone from Frump to fab,.....from a dark dismal yukky sludge colour that was frankly really depressing to a stylish elegant room.
There is a feature wall in a denim blue and the other three walls are a sort of warm grey stone colour. The fireplace is the same stone colour which really stands out against the dark blue and turns it into a really attractive focal point.
The last vestige of Miss Haversham has finally been banished. :rotfl:
It needs to be dressed and accessorised properly but for now I will put up some Christmassy bits.
The house is a bit of a tip this morning so I'll tackle that and then I make a start on the Christmas decorations. I'm a bit tired and achey so I'll pace myself.
Decorator is back next week to do the Hall. That won't take long, it will be done for Christmas. So then it's only the kitchen left. That's the big one though, it's a big job. He will do the beams, ceiling and walls and I will do the cabinets. Aiming to start that about the end of January.
It's coming together. Whatever will I do with my time when it's finished.......:rotfl:
Don't worry I have got lots of ideas for next year.
Like you Chanie. I am already starting to think about next years goals. Going to set myself some challenges.......0 -
So pleased you've got your lounge done LL. It must be feeling much more like your home now, decorated to your tastes.:)
That's an amazing amount of clothes and accessories sugarbaby. What a mammoth task you've accomplished.:T
I'm out for a Christmas dance tonight. It's Scottish so quite energetic so I'll be wearing a sleeveless top with a long swishy skirt. It's a dark green satin top from Top Shop (via CS;)) and a black, chiffon pleated skirt. I've got a black evening cardigan to wear for the first couple of dances and during the interval. I bought this cardigan years ago from Boden. It has a velvet band around the neckline and little rosebuds at intervals. It's been so useful.
I've had a good pamper session this morning including a defuzz and lashings of body lotion. I should try and get my eyebrows done too. When we did the bathroom we moved the washbasin and now I don't have a mirror in natural light close to the window. I'm thinking of getting an illuminated magnifying mirror for my eyebrows. Does anyone have one?
I'm gradually getting Christmas bits done. Non perishable foods are mostly sorted. I'll do the decorations later in the week. I must write some cards. DH has done the overseas ones and I've hand delivered a few as I've seen people at events bit I have some that need posting. That'll happen today or tomorrow.lessonlearned wrote: »Like you Chanie. I'm starting to feel like that too. My resolutions tend to be incremental and then I can build on them. Regular exercise is definitely going on the list. I have my dancing and a weekly walk with friends but I'd like to aim for something like walking every day. I might even attempt a step count.:)
Today is bright and sunny. So pleased that horrible rain has gone if only for a while.:)0 -
Hello Ladies,
LL thank you.But I still have the 2 full length rails, 2 80 litre storage boxes and a holdall of my clothes still to add to my photographic clothing inventory I am doing. I am too tired to finish it until January 2020. I have to pace myself to get it finished.
LL what I have done pales in comparison to the mammoth changes you have done to your home to make it fabulous.
I went to Odeon Haymarket yesterday evening to watch the film Motherless Brooklyn. I really enjoyed this film. I would give it 9/10
ODEON says...
'Motherless Brooklyn' follows Lionel Essrog, a lonely private detective living with Tourette Syndrome, as he ventures to solve the murder of his mentor and only friend, Frank Minna. Armed only with a few clues and the engine of his obsessive mind, Lionel unravels closely guarded secrets that hold the fate of the whole city in the balance.
In a mystery that carries him from gin-soaked jazz clubs in Harlem to the hard-edged slums of Brooklyn and, finally, into the gilded halls of New York's power brokers, Lionel contends with thugs, corruption and the most dangerous man in the city to honor his friend and save the woman who might be his own salvation.
My older son is 37 years old today. :j:D He has decided to come and get the presents tomorrow as he has plans for his birthday.
I am really looking forward to getting my decorations and my Christmas tree up and decorated once I finally have the space when all of the Christmas and birthday presents have been collected by my older son. I am planning to do it all on Monday.0 -
I had a great time at the gig on Thursday night. I drank far too much and danced so much too. I'm still feeling a little delicate today.;)
I really like the silver hoop earrings I bought. I usually wear necklaces but I think earrings suit me more.
Next week I have to go out and look for CS clothes to start using up some of the fabric dye I bought.
I was thinking about buying a pinafore dress from Dotty P too as I saw they were half price at the moment.sugarbaby125 wrote: »The running total so far is: 29 skirts, 10 swimming costumes, 18 dresses, 105 tops, 2 coats, 13 jackets, 17 cardigans and 6 jumpers.[/COLOR]

Good morning lovely ladies......
Well the Christmas decorations are done. I'm Starting to feel quite festive......need to wrap the presents and then other than a few bits and bobs I'm about ready for the big day.
Does anyone else "dress up" for the festivities. I have a couple of new dresses I've not worn yet. I do usually try and make an effort, even if I'm the one doing the cooking. :rotfl:
Got the chimney sweep coming today, hoping to manage a walk to the library and local shops after he has been. Decorator coming Wednesday to do the hall.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
Ps......checked the long range weather forecast for January to March.:rotfl:0 -

I don't plan to buy new outfits for Christmas LL unless there's a real gap in the wardrobe or I see something I really love. This year I've not bought anything new (yet;)).
I do plan my outfit for Christmas Day though. My DD1 is a bit of a freezer though so I find what with being in the kitchen and the CH on full blast I get very hot. I may wear my wrap around dress with leggings this year as it has shortish, floaty sleeves and doesn't need a camisole underneath as the wrap is generous. The leggings will mean I don't have to wear tights and could even take them off as the day progresses. I'm not into Christmas jumpers or anything like that though. The closest I'd get would be a colour gesture like red or green.
Two dancing sessions this week. Tomorrow's is a Christmas Ceilidh. I've got a vintage C&A velvet dress that I'll probably wear. It'll make a change from the skirts that I wear every week.
Tomorrow I've got a podiatry appointment. My feet are in good condition but I'm sticking with the appointment as they're hard to come by. I think I have one left on a 6 appointment plan that I bought. Unfortunately the prices keep going up and up (£40 for 30 minutes:eek:) so I may revert to having a pedicure at my nail place and fall back on podiatry if I have any problems. Also an independent podiatrist has just opened near here so I will check their prices. While I'm in the city centre tomorrow I've booked an eyebrow wax and tint.:)
There was an interesting review of the decade in my paper today. It was about what's changed in the past 10 years. In the fashion section it referred to 'uniform' type clothes like cargo trousers and trench coats, sports clothes worn as everyday outfits like hoodies, sweatpants, trainers and also 'men's' fashions like blazers and trouser suits coming back for women. Not surprisingly all of these items are hard wearing, tried and tested and generally comfortable so it's no surprise they've stood the test of time. The other good thing was they noted a trend that people want to buy fewer things but want them to last.
I'm slowly getting through Christmas tasks. I don't have a great deal to do so I'm not worried about it. I got all my cards finished yesterday and DH walked to the Post Office with them so that's done. Today I want to pick up a JL parcel on click and collect from my local Waitrose and while I'm there I'll do a few odd bits of shopping.
Unfortunately I have a bit of a cold.:( I think yesterday was probably the worst day so hopefully it's one of those that comes and goes quickly. It's dry here....at the moment.0 -
Hello Ladies,
My older son finally came and collected all of the birthday and Christmas presents. :j He brought a female friend with him, who helped him to carry all of the bags of presents to his car.
My grandson is coming to collect his Christmas presents today.
Yesterday evening my younger son and my younger daughter went to The Vaults theatre in Waterloo. They both made an effort to look fabulous, but my son went whole hog wearing formal trousers with the matching waistcoat with a formal shirt and tie.He looked absolutely gorgeous and my daughter looked really pretty.
My daughter never normally wants to make much effort, so I was really pleased to see her wearing a very feminine red long sleeved blouse with a pair of black trousers.
Normally she dresses far too casual.
My younger son is coming home from University tomorrow to stay at home for 4 weeks. :j:D:T
I have booked with Fantastic Services to have my new bed and my son's new bed assembled on Wednesday and for the 2 old beds to be taken away and disposed of. It is going to cost me £106 but it will be money well spent.
My plan is to do the decorations and Christmas tree on Wednesday evening with the help of my younger son.
I am going to a Christmas party at the wine bar in Herne Hill tomorrow evening. Going to go all out fabulous for it0 -
It was quite warm out today for my daily walk. I wore my new green Wallis shirt, my New Look black dress underneath and only my denim jacket on top.:T
I have run out of my usual Skyn Iceland cream but now my skin is so much better (and properly hydrated!) I didn't buy a replacement and instead used a much cheaper moisturiser and it is working just as well.
The Skyn Iceland cream is almost £50 so that Maddie tip was very money saving! Thanks again.xxlessonlearned wrote: »Does anyone else "dress up" for the festivities. I have a couple of new dresses I've not worn yet. I do usually try and make an effort, even if I'm the one doing the cooking. :rotfl:
This year I'm going to wear the black wrap dress in my wardrobe that I have never worn!:pMuch more economical.:D
Yes, exactly. I actually find it quite fun waiting for the results of the dye as the clothes are transformed.:o:D It's a sad life I lead, haha.sugarbaby125 wrote: »

That is nice. When I was out the other night at the O2 I saw some people who were very dressed up in formal evening wear. I assume they work in the city or Canary Wharf and had been to a smart Christmas party.:)2025 GOALS
