Frump to Fab 2019 - Here We Go Again

Ooh, my handbags arrived and they are very nice.:) I bought a light grey one and a black one. I am donating some of my old ones to a chazzer tomorrow.
I also bought another new dress (navy again!) and two short sleeved shirts for my husband. His were maroon and dark blue. Superdry was the brand name, I have heard of them before.I'm almost ashamed to post that I have three jumpsuits!:o
Two are for evening wear: one tailored black and the other a sort of floaty chiffon in an animal/leopard print. Both are sleeveless. The other one is a white paisley design on black in a cotton fabric with shoestring straps. I'd still only wear it in the evening but it's much more casual so it'll be coming on holiday with me.
Then there's my wide legged trousers. OMG! I'm starting to get a freak complex.
:rotfl: You are tall and slim so that probably looks fab on you.
I don't think you need to be slim but think you need to have a nipped in waist to wear a jumpsuit (which I certainly don't) and neither did the women I saw at the concert.:o0 -
I too love this series LL, ive always watched it. I watched the one last night about the tv actors that follow it0
-
Maman. I was intrigued by how many of the leading women wore white. Then I read that apparently the Queen always wears white for state banquets, so maybe that's why so many of them followed suit.
The danger with long white gowns is that they can look a bit like wedding dresses. I thought Kate's dress whilst pretty definitely looked like a wedding dress. And Camilla really ought to wear a better bra. :rotfl:
I did notice the Queen was wearing some serious rubies.......they looked like they weighed a ton. :rotfl: bless her she's looking tired now.0 -
Ive followed 7 up from the start too , hard to believe they are in thier 60's now , where did that time go so fast
Sheilavw, what was the programme called about the actors, I missed that and would like to watch it on catch up tv,0 -
I have seen that programme but this was years ago, I think maybe 21 years ago (?) as they were around my age now as I remember. It was interesting. I might see if it is on the BBC to watch the new series.
I have had a clear out of my bags. I have seven left. I will list them for people on here who find my life fascinating, lol.
Two of the new "designer" bags I just bought.
A red £1 chazzer hand bag. I really like the colour and I wear this one the most.
A Red Herring brown bag, also £1. I haven't even worn that one yet.
An Asda blue box bag.
A black messenger bag.
A black charity shop buy bag. It was new but a little too small though, I may donate that one too.2025 GOALS

The Up series is on ITV 9 pm.
molly - 7 Up and Me (the one with famous people talking about what they felt about the programme) was on Monday. That was interesting and heartwarming too.
I think there are 2 more nights this week.
What a joy last nights programme was.......although tinged with sadness - but that's real life isn't it. We get older, greyer, some of us get sick and some don't make it this far.
My husband's long illness and early death taught me a very valuable lesson.......that life is for living and aging is a privilege which many are denied. I no longer waste my time on trivia, unless it's fun trivia of course.......we should always make room for fun. Also that money is a necessity but ultimately it can't buy life, health and happiness.
When this thread started my husband was sick but his illness hadn't reached its nadir, much worse was to come before he eventually died. We were £30k in debt. But you know what, I would happily live with that if it meant having my husband restored to me.
My finances are now on an even keel but I will never regain the lost ground, will never be able to replace my Spanish home (wouldn't want to live there without my husband anyway). I live simply but I'm ok with that, money has become largely meaningless to me. As long as I can pay my bills I'm happy.
I also watched a dramatised documentary about Freddie Mercury. One of The final scenes was where his solicitor was helping him draft his will. All that money but it couldn't save him.........
Hey ho.......mustnt get maudlin. Life goes on and I intend to live it to the full.
Just dropped my car off for what I hope will be a minor repair. It's rather cold but hopefully the sun will come out later and take the chill off. Gardening, cleaning and decluttering today.
Have a great day.
Another 1/2 lb gone......:D0 -
Love the bags, Wednesday. Nice selection.
I have a vintage crocodile skin bag (sorry yes it's real) but it's from the 60s when folk just didn't care as much back then. I bought it from a chazzer.
I often think maybe I should part with it but then I figure that that poor crocodile gave it's life so by continuing to use the bag at least it's being sort of honoured iyswim. If it just goes to landfill then the poor creature really did die in vain.
Thank goodness nowadays, in general, people are a bit more aware of animal welfare.......although of course we humans still have a long way to go.0 -
For some reason I thought it was a BBC One programme. It shows how long ago I saw it. I just read a review and it sounds fascinating. I will watch that this week if I it's on catchup.2025 GOALS

I watched the programme on Monday but have recorded last night's and will do the same tonight as I'm out dancing. I think I've followed it right through. The Barnardos's lad who said he didn't like greens always sticks in my mind!:D
There's a whole feature on the Trump women and their wardrobe choices in my paper this morning. Apparently wearing white (day as well as evening wear) is a signal for how wealthy you are. Presumably because getting dirty and dry cleaning bills don't matter!;)
I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to handbags.I have a black, Mulberry fake that I bought a couple of years ago and it goes everywhere with me. It is a 'good' fake in that it's made from real, soft leather and was relatively expensive. It's the Selby model which is soft and slouchy. When I'm away I might replace it but I said that last year and didn't see anything I liked any better.:)
I do have some other handbags but they only come out on high days and holidays. My DDs have coloured bags which I always think look good especially in red and green.
This afternoon, DH and I are actually going to a bathroom showroom! Some of you will remember that we've been procrastinating for months, years even, about revamping the bathroom. We had a plumber round a few weeks ago and while he can't do anything until we get back from holiday we are in a position to start choosing. I think the guys from the showroom will have to visit us at some point as it's a small, awkward room with inconveniently placed door and window so it'll be a case of what will fit as much as what we'd like.
Bright(ish) here but hardly flaming June!0 -
Maman....my bathroom is small and the layout was very awkward......I kept trying to work out a good layout. Thought I'd done really well and then my plumber just shook his head and said "nah" and sketched out the most brilliant plan.:rotfl:
That's why my bathroom ended up costing such a lot of Money. It wasn't a straight like for like swap. I had a cupboard removed and the new layout meant all the pipe work had to be rerouted. But the difference is astonishing. The bathroom looks much much bigger, really light and airy. Yes, it was expensive but it's worth every penny. It's a real showstopper even if I do say so myself. :rotfl:
I wasn't going to because of the extra cost but I dId end up having proper fitted bathroom furniture. It really helped make use of every inch of space and added lots of valuable storage without the need for shelves etc. So keeping a nice streamlined look. They are mid grey high gloss and look fabulous.
Anyway good luck with it.....it's a big messy job but I'm sure it will be worth all the hassle.
Just had a call from the garage, the repair will be £112. So very pleased with that. I want to Keep the old girl going for as long as possible. :rotfl: I can afford a new car but don't really want to splurge just yet.
I have rejigged my budget (again :rotfl:). Doing ok, managing to claw back some of the overspend on the bathroom.
I'm just about to start on the back bedroom, hall and stairs. I've ripped up all the horrible old carpet, checked the joists underneath. The survey said possible woodworm.....there's nothing it's clear but I have some stuff so I will treat them anyway as a Preventative measure.
I am aiming to buy the paint this week and then get cracking. New carpet and then get all the wardrobes fitted in there. It will be my dressing room/guest bedroom.0
