Frump to Fab 2019 - Here We Go Again

I just bought two vegan handbags. Vegan as in non-leather.
I read online that ASOS is the cheapest place to buy an inexpensive "luxe" vegan handbag so I bought a couple as they had money off at the moment and I obviously just signed up there to buy the dresses recently.
I blame you ladies on here, a few months ago I didn't even know what the word "luxe" meant.:rotfl:sugarbaby125 wrote: »Hello Ladies,
I came home from my lovely 2 week holiday in Jamaica on Friday.I was really glad to get home though
I had a very good time, as I and my 2 sisters were all inclusive in a 5 star hotel in Montego Bay in Jamaica and as we had upgraded our seats on the plane to and from Jamaica which meant VIP lounges in Gatwick Airport and Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay.:j
As I have 3 types of Arthritis and my 2 sisters have severe Asthma my sister H booked special assistance for all 3 of us with both Airports. No long walks through the Airport for any of us, we were each allocated a porter and wheelchair. We were also whizzed through Customs and our luggage was collected from the carousel and transported for us. :T:j
I used 50 factor sun lotion every day, reapplying it after every day in the pool. I have never spent so much time in a swimming pool in my life, but this was facilitated by a step around the pool, that all non swimmers could sit on and safely be immersed in the water up to their shoulders. I did my own set of pool exercises every day to make up for not being able to do my usual exercise DVDs at home.
I am about 5 shades darker than I usually am, but it does not bother me in the least, as I did it the safe way.
I only got a single mosquito bite on my right wrist on the day before we left our holiday resort.
There was so much to do on the resort apart from eating and drinking as much as you liked each day. There were themed entertainment shows every evening and a nightclub after the end of the show in a sister hotel that we had access to. There were beach parties, a pool party, Karaoke and lots of talented and skilled live singers and musicians every day. I danced so much that my legs ached. I got compliments on my dancing from other guests and members of staff every day.The massages proved to be too expensive for any of us to want to have one. I was unable to use the free spa spaces because of my hypertension, which was a shame.
I went on only 2 excursions with my 2 sisters. One of them was excellent, but the other one was a huge disappointment. The 3rd one we had booked and paid for in advance was cancelled due to bad weather so we got a full refund.
I had the a medium sized suitcase, but my 2 sisters had large suitcases, yet I took far more clothing with me than either of them did. I wore everything except one cardigan and a 4 embellished vest tops. I took with me, 14 skirts, 20 tops, 28 pairs of new size 14 briefs, 2 dresses, 4 cardigans, a pair of gold leather sandals, black leather sandals and white leather sandals, a green leather handbag, a black beaded handbag, a red leather handbag and a gold beaded handbag and that proved to be enough clothes and accessories to keep me looking fabulous every day. I had 7 swimsuits and a swimming cap and my 2 designer sunglasses that I have owned for years.
I suffer from oedema in my legs when they are too hot, inactive or not elevated enough throughout the day, so unfortunately with the very high temperatures in Jamaica, I frequently had swollen legs and/or feet, but I did not let it spoil my holiday.
I bought and used Boots Flight socks on both flights and they worked very effectively, so I did not get swollen feet or legs on either long haul flight. :T
I had 3 male admirers who were brave enough to show their interest.2 young black men from the entertainment team who were both only in their early twenties and a mature white man from America. I did not reciprocate any of their interest but it was extremely gratifying to have the 3 of them showing how much they liked me.
Chanie you were right about the bookcase of used books. It was in the hotel lobby. When I had read the 3 books I took to the hotel with me, I put them in the bookcase and took another book from the bookcase to read. I took this book home with me as I did not have enough time to finish it.
I had so much delicious food to eat on holiday because I did not have to cook it myself, but I kept to sensible portions. I made sure there were days when I had salad with some kind of protein for lunch and for dinner on some days. I did taste some fish that I had never encountered in my life before. I was very open to new taste experiences. I also had the most moist and tasty jerk chicken I had ever tasted. I mostly snacked on fresh fruit or fresh popcorn every day. There was a popcorn machine in the lobby snack area and I could help myself to fresh popcorn and choose not to add any sugar, salt or butter to it. I tried some tropical fruit that I found that I just did not like, but there was freshly prepared and fresh whole fruit available every day. I came home to find that I was now 15 stones 5lbs.:j
The holiday may have cost me over £3,000 all in including all of the new clothes, lingerie, sandals and handbags, and spending money, but I was worth every pound and penny.
I had everything unpacked on Friday. By Sunday morning, I had finally washed and dried the last load of my holiday clothes and they were all hanged up.
I went to Karaoke last night and I had a really fun evening.
So jealous! It sounded like you had an amazing time.:T

Sugar.. your holiday sounds lovely and really relaxing
I've been watching cherynbol this week. It is beyond words. The stories of real bravery and suffering, it is haunting.
The acting is amazing. Jared Harris is amazing, he has a depth and his soul inhabits the character. Emily Watson is great. I listened to the podcast for the series and it gave more detail.0 -
WOW wonderful memories from your holiday Sugarbaby. Glad you enjoyed it all0

Good morning lovely ladies.....
Had to share.......blood sugars coming down really nicely.......good readings this morning. Getting there. Whilst it is a fantastic feeling to lose weight and see my body looking better and to be able to wear smaller sized clothes, the really big pay off would be if I can reverse my diabetes. Fingers crossed. Anyway I'll just keep at it. Just 12lbs to go.......:D. And then I'll review it and see what I think.
Acupuncture this morning. Then a little bit of light gardening (weather permitting) forecast is pretty grim. I bought a couple of fruit bushes yesterday, so hopefully I'll get those planted. 1 raspberry and 1 blackberry. Think I'll put them in pots because I think they might be a bit invasive. Last time I planted a raspberry straight into the earth it took over and had to be dug up.
I've signed up for several meet-ups over the next few weeks. Just two a week, don't want to feel overwhelmed. Hopefully a nice variety......dancing, pub quizz, a couple of concerts, a couple of meals, a trip to the casino.
Wish me luck......dancing this week on Friday (knee permitting). Although I could always sit some dances out and just enjoy the music and atmosphere..
Loving my hair now. It's settling in nicely and is so much easier to manage now that it's cut properly. A good cut makes such a difference.
Have a great day y'all. Keeeeeep fabbing.0 -

We certainly do;) Sounds like you had a fab hols SB, mine can't come soon enough
WEDNESDAY I can't stand jumpsuits on grown Women  My 10 year old DGD suits hers but they look silly on adults imo
LL the meet ups sound fab, especially the dancing one:D"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

I'm almost ashamed to post that I have three jumpsuits!:o
Two are for evening wear: one tailored black and the other a sort of floaty chiffon in an animal/leopard print. Both are sleeveless. The other one is a white paisley design on black in a cotton fabric with shoestring straps. I'd still only wear it in the evening but it's much more casual so it'll be coming on holiday with me.
None of them were expensive. One Matalan, one Peacocks and the other Per Una CS although I customised it (leopard one) by taking off the frilly sleeves. I've worn them loads especially the black ones.
Then there's my wide legged trousers. OMG! I'm starting to get a freak complex.
I heard an interesting discussion on the radio this morning. It was in the wake of the poor sales results for both High Street and internet shopping. The feeling was that we've come to saturation point in terms of 'stuff', that people like MK are having an influence and also concern over environmental impact plus of course money is tight. I know I'm certainly keeping my clothes longer and also buying a lot from the CS.
I've decided that the Zara spotty dress is a keeper. I'm keeping the larger size as I think it looks better being a bit more floaty rather than fitted. So when I'm in the city next I'll return the smaller size.
Great news about the blood sugars LL. I know we're all motivated by vanity to an extent (well I am:o) but if you can improve your health too that's brilliant. :T
Avoiding politics and talking about the ultimate in people watching: what did any of you think about the outfits on show at the royal banquet last night?0 -
Just having a lazy 5 minutes. Need to cook in a minute, For some reason acupuncture always wipes me out so have been resting. Just watched 7up and Me which I recorded last night in preparation for 63 UP which starts tonight.
I alsolutely love this series and have watched it faithfully since it first aired all those years ago, for me it's the best thing ever seen on TV. For those who have never seen it, it is a documentary which first started recording the lives of a group of 7 year old children, revisiting them every 7 years.
They are real people not actors and their life stories have been fascinating. Watching them grow up and seeing their lives unfold. Anyway they are now 63. I shall be glued.. People watching at its best.
Talking of people watching. I noticed an awful lot of beige ladies today at the acupuncture clinic.. And quite a few beige men too, in fact a few were beige couples. :rotfl:
I wonder why this is .......do some people become afraid of colour as they get older so they stick with "safe". I look in my wardrobe now and I have all colours of the rainbow. Of course I don't wear them all at once :rotfl: I am not flamboyant, in fact I would say my style is quite conservative and classic. I even have a couple of beige items, usually trousers, they have their place too - but never head to toe beige :eek:0
