I had to order smaller pyjama bottoms too as I'm starting to look like Charlie Chaplin.:rotfl:
Wednesday you have done brilliantly with your weight loss and it must be so gratifying to have clothes hanging off you now. :jYou have inspired me to keep going with my own weight loss journey and daily exercises until I am finally at a weight and size that makes me truly joyful and content.
Can I just point out that when we all donate clothing to a charity shop, if it is not deemed good enough to sell in the shop, the charity will put it in their rag bag and sell it by weight. Nothing will go to waste clothing wise.0 -
Hello Ladies,
LL good luck with finding a good man through the dating agency. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I have not lost any weight again this week, but I am still motivated to continue to lose weight.
It took so many years of eating too much carbohydrates and starchy food to get to such an obese weight. It will continue to take lots of healthy eating and daily exercise on my part to change my body to a shape and weight that I am personally happy with and for me to improve my health outcomes in my future.
Chanie thank you for the information about Hotels having a library of books that I could possibly access.0 -
I bought some new moisturisers. I looked up the best vegan skincare again. I bought Sophie La Girafe Baby Face Cream and a REN moisturiser. I had heard of the brand REN before, but not the other one.
I also bought some new black boots for the concert I'm going to on the 1st of June.
I wanted to wear a black Next short skirt I bought from a charity shop (for £1) but the zip doesn't do up all the way yet. Almost, but not all the way.Hopefully it will do up by then if I stick to my exercise.:D
I am going to wear tights and a cardigan with probably a vest top. it depends on the weather though. It might have gone back to warmer by then so it may be leggings with sandals.:)sugarbaby125 wrote: »Wednesday you have done brilliantly with your weight loss and it must be so gratifying to have clothes hanging off you now. :jYou have inspired me to keep going with my own weight loss journey and daily exercises until I am finally at a weight and size that makes me truly joyful and content.
Aw, what a nice thing to say.:A It hasn't been easy to get to this stage. I think you said you have health problems too and I know it definitely can make weight loss harder.
I'm sure you can do it, though.:T:j0 -
Thanks Sugarbaby for the advice on ripped clothing. I was rushing around this morning as it was bin collection day so I just chucked them in the bin without thinking. I usually do try and donate or recycle unwanted clothing.:)2025 GOALS

I recently watched a documentary on the path donated goods go on french news. It was fascinating. Many those leaflets that come in the door and clothing bins are shipped to Tunisia- graded into first class, moderate and well worn.
The first class items are resold in prestige vintage shops with ladies in the factory keeping an eye out for certain items. Moderate are sold in Tunisia and well worn are used in below sahara southern Africa and Sudan. The well worn clothes are bought for farm work and children. It freed up women from spinning their own cotton and allowed traditional clothing to be kept for special use. There is an industry repairing and modifying the material in sub Saharan Africa and allowed the creativity to be demonstrated in restyled clothes.
The real rags that were beyond redemption were sent to India to make insulation. Nothing is unused and better than land fill. It makes women lives easier to clothe families inexpensively. It was fascinating as we have so much we forget things can be reused.
Did a load of decluttering- it is constant tipping away at it in order to maintain some level of equilibrium.0 -
savingfortomorrow That programme sounds really interesting and a good example of how a bit of creative thinking can help lots of people in may different ways.
I have been trying to increase my green activities over the past few years. I have always recycled and bought my own bags when shopping, but I felt that we really needed to do more, as a household. My recent activities are:
reusable cotton wool pads - I bought some reusable cotton pads for my skincare regime to replace cotton wool. I wash them alongside my laundry.
bees wax sandwich wraps - I have been using clingfilm, but wanted to try something reusable. The wrap does the job, but I'm not sure how long it will last......
period underwear - these are essentially knickers with a sanitary towel built in. I tried them last month and was impressed, so I'm going to buy a couple more over the coming months.
Although I have enjoyed using the new products, the cost of the items is expensive. For example, a pack of sanitary towels can cost me about £1 and 1 pair of the period undies is £25. I'm lucky because I can afford the outlay, but there are many people who cant. Its a shame that the products can't be subsidised, as this may encourage more uptake.0 -
Good morning lovely ladies
Interesting chats about recycling/renewables etc. This is a cause very close to my heart. I think the situation must be getting quite critical now, we simply cannot go on plundering the planets resources or there will be precious little left for future generations. As a society we have become shockingly wasteful. I think what is needed is a radical shake up from the top down, and I agree governments need. To be more proactive on this.
As you say the green alternatives are often prohibitively expensive for many people. There needs to be some investment from above, time, money and effort. It's all very well some individuals trying to do their bit but it's going to take a massive concerted effort. I would also like to see clearing pollution given a much higher priority.
I'll get off me soapbox now.
Well it's another horrible day here, thankfully the forecast for next week seems to be saying we shall be seeing that yellow ball in the sky again.
SUgarbaby. Thanks for your good wishes re the internet dating. I am not husband hunting, but as much as I adore my family and female friends I am beginning to think it would be nice to have some male companionship from time to time.
I am not expecting to find "the big romance" (although never say never:rotfl:). But a few fun dates might be nice. I haven't been out with anyone yet.....I've only been on the site a week.....but I've had some nice messages and a couple of requests for my phone number.
It's been nearly 5 years since my husband died, I feel that I might be ready to take a first few tentative steps into the arena.:rotfl: it's scary though. I haven't dated since 1980!!!
Will I know what to do. :rotfl:0 -
Interesting contributions about recycling/reusing. The subject has been really high profile recently because of the protests in London and Greta Thunberg. I do hope the momentum continues.:)
I agree we should all try to do our bit but it's not easy. It would help if all local councils could agree on what's recyclable and what's not. Then manufacturers could help by changing/dispensing with packaging for so many products. Like chanie said, it can also be also expensive so trying to make changes at the same time as the austerity policy is very hard on so many people.
DH and I were discussing the proposed removal of petrol & diesel cars from the market in a few years time. Unfortunately that is fraught with problems as not only will it require massive infrastructure for recharging but we could end up as vulnerable to price hikes by utility companies as we are now for domestic power.
I'd like to see more tidal and wind power used plus that would have the bonus of rejuvenating the economy in some coastal towns. Unfortunately all of this needs serious government intervention and long term planning. I'll stop there as I could go on and on about the political ambition. But I wont.;)
We had a good time last night. I felt good in my wide legged trousers. Much better with a tucked in top. I am doing Fab Friday today. Not going anywhere glamorous (probably Aldi:D) but I'm going to wear my red Reiss top and black jeans with a black jacket. I'll do my make up too although a lighter version than I'd wear in the evenings. The weather is good here although heavy showers might come. At the moment I plan to wear my Raybans too.:cool:0 -
Maman.....I tried on my grey wide legged "Hepburn" trousers yesterday. Haven't worn them in ages. If anything they are actually a tad loose in the waist, but because of the cut and Style they are fine for now. Mine definitely look nicer with a top tucked in. I have a couple of very nice cream georgette blouses that go well. It's quite a dressy look - perfect for a smart lunch or dinner date.
. Just got to find the guy.
Several of my favourites items are starting to be a bit loose, especially on the shoulders. As I've explained before I do have quite a small frame given my height and my shoulders are especially slender. Ok for now but it depends on how I go. Before I gained weight I often had to adjust the shoulders on dresses. It's usually not too difficult and they do look better when they are tailored to fit rather than gaping. And I hate to see bra straps...:rotfl:
I did an Aldi shop earlier. Called in at my favourite chazzer. Picked up two shocking pink jackets. Couldn't decide which I liked best but as they were only £4 for the two I decided to invest in both. Not quite as extravagant as it sounds because they are different weights, one is wool and one is cotton.
Speaking of finding the guy......I have John 3 showing some interest. :rotfl: Third time lucky maybe???0
