My new necklaces arrived. They were from Cavendish Jewellers in York. They came in boxes wrapped in gold gift wrapping. I'm very pleased. I have cleared some space and dedicated a drawer just for jewellery today.:)

I keep going to look in there to admire it. :rotfl:

I was reading Thyroid UK and I think they fob people off as it is quite expensive to treat as you get an exemption certificate for free prescriptions. They were saying on there to ask them what the results were as some GPs just say it is normal without giving you the actual result.

Yes I read something along similar lines. .I more or less decided to sort myself out same as I did with my digestive system. I concentrated on boosting my adrenal function in the hope that it would stabilise my thyroid. Apparently your thyroid won't function if your adrenals are overstressed, which I knew mine were. I had been living on adrenaline for years and my adrenal glands were trashed.

I think my strategy has worked. I feel so much better and I'm also losing weight now. Not sure whether that's a coincidence or if it's because my thyroid is now fully functioning. I haven't bothered with blood tests to double check but my nails are fine now so I think that's a good sign. They eyebrows haven't fully grown back, they probably won't now but I am happy enough.

My DIL, a doctor, told me that in other countries, US/Aus/Canada etc, the levels that mean you are classed as hypothyroid are different to the UK, so if you are borderline here you might well be treated in another country. I think the cost of the exemption certificate could be a factor, I'm sure most people would rather pay for the med and get treatment.

Just seen my GP and I've managed to get referred for a DEXA bone scan. Really pleased as I thought I was going to have to pay privately for it. Should be getting a date next week.

There is not cut and dried answer. Different doctors vary some prescribe readily to try and give benefit and others less so (in the same town or region). I don't think the medical exception has any impact because even when paying for the medicines, doctors may not prescribe or agree that it is appropriate to start if subclinical. The risk is atrial fibrillation if given subclinical level. This is an area of medicine that has limited good studies and is more of an art.
  • I had a good make up day. It is bizarre some days It lasts all day and looks great- natural and does not patch off. If I could have the same results daily with the same products life would make some sense.

I am decluttering at the minute and it is freeing. I don't need as much as I have and better to enjoy what I have. I need to buy a few good quality t-shirts. I don't like shopping for specific items as often they are not in the shops.
  • I found myself looking rather pale when I got home from work last night (I was super-tired) so decided to finally use some of the gradual tanner I picked up in Boots.

I was going to use it last night but OH is a snuggler and thought he would not be best impressed to wake up with bits of tan on his face :rotfl:

So I did it this morning after my shower and that gave me the time during my commute to work for it to dry fully before finishing my makeup when I got here :rotfl:

I had to use some dry shampoo the day before yesterday for the first time in years as we had no hot water in the morning, and my scalp was so flaky and itchy yesterday which was disheartening as anti-dandruff shampoos really dry out my hair but the expensive S & C the hairdresser recommended to recondition my hair really soothed it all. Thankfully, it is less irritated today so I suspect it was just a bit of a knee-jerk reaction to having to use the dry shampoo :o

I've noticed that my skin looks like it is getting a little red from that Skyn Iceland cream. Annoying as it is very high quality. I changed to using it every other day and just using my old B serum in between.

I will have to look for a new cream when I use it up. I think I might try Tropic as that is supposed to be good.:)

    Exactly.

I think what made my GP finally give me thyroid medication was when I told him that my mother had a heart attack at 50. I had read how untreated hypothyroidism can affect your heart and I really wasn't taking no for an answer from him that day!

I wore a dress that I had in my wardrobe for a while yesterday. It's a turquoise midi dress that is more for the Spring. It looked positively voluminous on me and so it was binned as it had a small rip so I wouldn't have donated it.

I had to order smaller pyjama bottoms too as I'm starting to look like Charlie Chaplin.:rotfl:

I know doctors will always use their judgement, it was the fact that the levels the NHS use are different to other countries. Doctors will work within the guidelines but why would USA/Canada etc say you need treatment at one level and the NHS say no need at that level.

It would be interesting to know the reasons given but the cynic in me says money has something to do with it.:(
I need to buy a few good quality t-shirts.

If it's classic t shirts you want then I really like these:

    https://www.jackwills.com/fullford-classic-pocket-t-shirt-100013106002.html?cgid=Ladies#pmax=1000&prefn1=ProductCategory&pmin=0&sz=46&start=55&prefv1=T-SHIRTS

They're a bit pricier than some but there is a multi buy offer on if you need more than one. They have different styles but this is my favourite. I have four at the moment.:)

I've been out for a brisk walk this morning. I left my shower until I got back as I knew it was likely to rain and my hair hates rain! So I came back and had a pamper session. Off to the hygienist in a moment then will get fabbed up to go out for dinner with friends.

I'm going to wear my wide legged trousers with my black jack Wills tee shirt tucked in! I'll probably wear my little black cardi too as it's not that warm today. We need the sun back!!:)
