LL, I'm sure I can hear your DS cheering from here!:footie::D

Excellent post, sft, so many interesting points. :T

So onward on upwards. If I don't project some self worth then how do I expect to receive it?

I think that's right at the heart of frump to fab. We're doing this for ourselves. Compliments are great when they come but that's not the main point. We have to love ourselves (but not in a vain way).;)
I need to replace shoes as I tend to wear them till they fall apart and I need to take time to focus on myself and being more positive.

Not sure which sort of styles you wear most of but I really would recommend Shoe Zone for casual sneaker/trainer type shoes. I've been paying £50+ for Skechers for some years but the black always fades before the shoes wear out. I'm delighted with my Shoe Zone lookalikes and they're only £10 a pair.
Showing massive costs of eating well are a barrier to people making the first step.

You're absolutely right. Anyone watching those programmes, thinking about losing weight would be put off unless they're made of money. I'd certainly recommend that you join SW eandjsmum. It's not that it's impossible to lose on your own (as sugarbaby is doing with her exercise videos and healthy eating.) but it does help too have a structure and some support.

I am always amazed with people who have "winter" and "summer" as the weather is so changeable. Your outfit sounded very fashionable.

Thanks for your kind words.:) I have a box of summer clothes but they're more sunshine holiday clothes including bikinis and beach cover ups. I rarely wear them in this country unless we happen to have an amazing summer like last year.
Keep it covered as nothing is worse than the pain when doing hair with a damaged nail as it snags. Keep going and all the benefit will come together. enjoy your birthday!

And happy birthday from me too eandjsmum.:)As well as being safer, from a fabbing point of view I think it looks better to have a plaster on your finger than a nail broken that far down and it's more comfortable too.

I'm feeling much better today:). I had plenty of sleep last night although I woke early with a splitting headache. I got up and took Sudafed along with painkillers and they seem to have done the trick. I had my promised pampering session and put on all clean clothes so I feel much fresher and brighter. I've done 2 WM loads as well. I only planned to do one but DH somehow manage to spill tea on his bathrobe so I did that and towels as well. :)

I've not done any gardening for a couple of days as we've been out a lot. I've got a while until the garden waste collection but I'll use that as my deadline for finishing my tidying up. Same with my book, I've only really got an hour or so's reading left to do although there is a discussion chapter at the end which I'll read because I'd like to know what the 'experts' think compared with my own view of the characters. Then I need to hit the CS to buy books to take on holiday. Have you packed books sugarbaby, I know you're an avid reader.

Warmer here today but hardly summer.;)

SFT. I can't do the quote highlight thing on my I pad, but if I could thank you a million times for your first couple of paragraphs I would. :rotfl:

The very idea of "not being worthy or deserving" is so undermining......and so damaging. I think that is why so many women suffer from low self esteem. It sets up a vicious circle of self neglect and despair.

Maman. You are so right and have hit the nail on the head......not feeling worthy or deserving and not projecting self worth does indeed lie at the heart of Frumpdom. Which is why I always labour the joke "we are soooooo worth it" :rotfl:

For many of us the journey from frump to fab is about reclaiming our self worth, our self respect and insisting that people treat us right. Yes I agree the compliments are nice but they are just the icing on the cake. We are indeed "doing it for ourselves".

Frump to Fab breaks that vicious circle and, in its place sets up a "circle of virtue", where just a few simple tweaks and a few simple steps help us to reclaim our feminity, our beauty, our health and wellbeing and our zest for life.....

    What's not to like.....:D.

Well I managed to cut the grass. It was jolly hard work but it's done so I can relax now.

A nice dinner, a bit of pampering and the season finale of "Line of Duty". I also record the Victoria thing.......don't know how truthful or authentic it is but I could throw a brick at the screen at the way Albert treats his missus.......but I guess that was probably about par for the course in those days. Even being a Queen didn't stop your husband from patronising you and bossing you about. :rotfl:

I think that's how a huge number across the country will be spending this evening.:D We'll be watching. There aren't many programmes that DH and I both enjoy but this is one of them. :)

I do the same. I enjoy it for all the period costume and settings although the actress is far too pretty if any image I've ever seen of Victoria is anything to go by. And you're right, a lot of it is pure fiction. That duchess who's involved with a footman didn't even exist. Strangely enough, I have a very different view of Albert's character. I see it as him trying to have some equality in their personal relationship even though she's always reminding him that she's queen (and so by default should know his place). Strange how we can watch the same programme but view it differently. It reminded me of this Indian folk tale:

    Ha ha....great story.

Tbh. I do feel sorry for Albert.....the real one.....not the petulant child he is portrayed as in the series........I think in real life he was a very much misunderstood and undervalued man. Most of the establishment treated him rather badly.

His position must have been untenable. A pity because I think he was intelligent and could have added real value to the role he was forced to play. If he had lived longer maybe his value might have been recognised and appreciated more. One of history's great "what if" questions.

If Im honest I am not one of Victoria's greatest fans, without being unkind I don't think she was the sharpest knife in the drawer. Not sure if that was her fault because I gather she didn't have much of an education, at least not one that would prepare her to be a monarch.

I agree The actress is far too pretty to play Victoria. .....:rotfl:

Still it's been an interesting series, although I do feel it's dragging a bit now.

I must check and see how the footie went......you mention DS cheering - so hopefully they did well. I don't really follow but DS did say it was an important game.
  • Maman- I will look at the shoe zone but I really ruin shoes. I get about six months at best, I walk at a strange angle and shoes don't last at all. I stand all day and take a lot of steps. I have tried expensive to cheap but genuinely am going to consider clogs. They are so common with people in Germany and America. My friend would change into clogs daily and said this was a common practice. Birkenstock do shoes so I might try them. I seem to damage German and Austrian shoes more slowly compared to softer Spanish shoes.

I got a lot of home improvement done today but the only fabbing was the throwing the hair into a lazy bun. Still exhausted as infection is chronic, I am fighting it and eating well doing the vitamin thing but sometimes I fear that it is some sort of super bug. If I don;t improve I will make contact with my consultant and get an appointment . I am lucky that I get the care that I want, however put have to pay for private insurance and for every doctor visit.

I ordered myself two vintage necklaces as a treat yesterday, because why not?

They are only cubic zirconia but both are very pretty.

I'm going back to bed for another hour and then will have a hot bath, shave my legs and put on body lotion afterwards.

Are you my twin.....I have just made myself a coffee and gone back to bed, then I too will have a hot bath. Was too tired last night. :rotfl:

Well done on treating yourself to some jewellery.

I have quite a few cubic zirconia bits and pieces. As you say why not, they are pretty and as cheap as chips. And provided you don't go overboard and choose huge stones they do look like the real thing. I have a couple of rings which keep people guessing. :D.

And although I do have some real diamonds I never take the good stuff on holiday.

    Another 2 lb lighter today......wahoo. :D.

No plans to go anywhere today despite the Bank Holiday. So I've used the flaxseed oil instead of serum as I've got time to let it soak in. I find it every bit as effective as my Clarins and it's a fraction of the price so very mse.:money:Unfortunately it is more greasy so I can't use it if I need to go out early in the day.

We're eating out twice with friends this week so plenty of fabbing opportunities. It's not that I don't bother other days (I have my one mile clothes) but it's good to make an effort. Thinking of sft's comments yesterday, I know I feel much better about myself and more confident when I look my best. :)

Well done on your weightloss LL. It's a good feeling.:T

I listened to a nutritionist on Woman's Hour earlier and she seemed to be talking a lot of nonsense. I missed the beginning so not sure of her credentials but her theory seemed to be that diets don't work, particularly long term, BUT she wouldn't have it that the reason they don't work is that people lack persistence. They even got a phone call from a doctor who specialised in nutrition who said that another reason was that will power was sorely tested by the amount of sugary junk food everywhere but she wouldn't have it. I think she was in the 'fat is beautiful' camp and said that provided you were healthy (fruit and veg, exercise etc) then that was OK. I'm going to listen again to be certain I heard it right but what about if you're fat and miserable? I know I was.

Today I'm going to finish my library book and do a pile of ironing.:( Some is from yesterday but mostly it's the summer skirts that I got out last week when it was warm enough to wear them!:rotfl:

Can I join? Frump to Fab is how I feel every year. I haven't dared weigh myself yet, but I know I need to lose at least a stone after my winter eating. Also being laid up mostly with an injury the past 6 weeks so have done zero exercise and only absolutely necessary housework.
Hoping to receive some inspiration. I will say my diet starts tomorrow...and maybe I'll weigh myself and restart MyFitnessPal. Thinking of doing a 5:2 or 4:3 diet in conjunction.
New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!

Thanks Maman. Just 1lb shy of 2 stones. :D. I reckon I'll make my 10lbs in 10 weeks target, I'm already ahead of myself. Want to look fab for my grandchild's christening. Lol.

It is now 6 weeks yesterday to go.....can I lose 8.5 lbs by then. It's pushing it but who knows.......;)

I have to confess I didn't think I would lose the second stone so quickly or easily but it has just melted away. I joined WW on 4th March, so it's only taken 9 weeks.

I'm so glad I persevered last week, even though it was a very emotional and difficult week. No idea why. I think perhaps it was looking after my grandchild that was the trigger .......my husband would have been a fantastic grandfather, he adored children and they adored him. He just had a way with them .....and dogs.:rotfl:

Anyway I'll need to try on some of my smaller dresses. I think they might even need altering at this rate. :rotfl:

That nutritionist wasn't very helpful. Of course people can lose weight and maintain their loss. People do it all the time, you Maman are a shining example.

No one says it's easy.......it's not. Just like anything else in life that's worth having, it takes work and self discipline. If it was easy there would be no such thing as obesity.

And she's wrong ........being fat is not healthy, diabetes, heart disease, joint problems just to name a few weight related issues. Nor I'm afraid is it beautiful, it's also jolly uncomfortable, feeling bloated, aching knees and feet, backache, chafed thighs, sweat rashes and as you say, feeling thoroughly miserable.

I'm afraid she's delusional if she thinks being overweight is in anyway desirable. And yes, I'm afraid I have been overweight for years.....

Never again.......my excess weight is coming off and it's going to stay off.
