  • It's only 8am and I already feel fab because I have finally (after nearly a week) mastered blow drying my long bob so that it sits nicely and you can see the graduated cut. I obviously knew it would take some trying to get it to look as good as the hairdresser did as she had a better vantage point to try it from, but all I've been able to manage was ending up with my hair flicking up at the bottom :rotfl: not a good look, and I've been determined not to cave and use my straighteners. However, it is sitting beautifully today and feels all swishy like it did on the day I got it cut :D I did try a different heat protection spray so that could have helped, too.

I have a physio appointment for my long-term foot pain today, £50 for an initial consultation but I got tired of waiting for an NHS referral to come through!

    Good morning lovely ladies......

And it looks like another gorgeous day. :D.

I have been busy with granny duties this week, but today is a day off so just going to potter about, recharge my batteries, maybe a bit of gardening after I have been shopping,

Weight loss is still going well. Wait for it.........since coming back from my Amazon trip when I hit the jack pot and weighed in at 13st 9lbs I am now down to 11st 10lb. :rotfl: I feel fantastic. Looking at my body now I reckon another stone or so will be about right, I think that will be about the correct fighting weight for me. I'll see how I go, I don't want to be too skinny and scraggy. :rotfl:

Silva. I love Edith Heads quote.......

"Your clothes should be tight enough to show you are a woman and loose enough to show you are a lady".

I think she was absolutely spot on and I think one of the biggest mistakes that many younger women, both celebs and ordinary women young women make, is to reveal too much.......skin tight clothes that are both too short and which expose too much cleveage just look tarty.

I was taught the golden rule, legs or bosom ......only one at a time, never both. Now it's legs, bosoms, backs, arms and clothes so tight you can see the outline of their underwear. And as for being obsessed with clothes clinging to their bottoms......:rotfl:

I guess they think it's sexy but what they don't realise is that true sex appeal means leaving a little to the imagination.

"In yer face" dressing which leaves nothing to the imagination will certainly get a man's attention, but it's not the sort of attention one would really want.

A gentle hint as to what lies beneath is far sexier. :rotfl:

Great news about your blowdrying capabilities SSDD23. Like you, it always takes me about a week to get used to my hair when it's been cut. I need to make an appointment soonish and juggle how to time it in so it's good when I go on holiday.

You're fortunate to have an independent shoe shop eandjsmum. We do have just the one left. It's where I took my DDs for many years for their school shoes. They do sell adult shoes but sadly, not only expensive but frumpy.:(

That's just a pound off your two stone LL. Well done!:T I'm sure you'll know when you start to risk looking scraggy. I've got a small window (about 3lbs) when my inner thighs start to look scraggy. It's much the same area that feels huge when I gain a few pounds.:D

I agree about too much on show but there's also the issue about buying clothes that are too tight. We had the poster that was obsessed with 'real' sizing from years ago but she had a point. There's vanity sizing on the one hand and then there's the issue of brands that skimp on fabric so their clothes come out really small. My aim when I was losing weight was to get back to a small, size 12 but I knew that would only be in decent brands. I'm perfectly happy to buy 14s in fast fashion and 10s in the vanity sizing. When communal changing rooms were fashionable, a few years back, I had to bite my tongue not to tell people pouring themselves into tight clothes that it made them look fatter. I definitely ignore the size label and buy what fits.:)

Having posted yesterday about my summer holiday wardrobe I think I could do with a couple more evening outfits. I'd forgotten that I pensioned off some maxi dresses. I need floaty, loose and lightweight so I'll be looking around when I next go into the city.

Dancing again tonight. I really enjoyed it yesterday evening. Last night I wore a long cotton skirt and a short sleeved top. Although forecast was poor, it's still good here today (15 degrees and sun peeping out) so another summer skirt is called for I think. :)

ETA: Today's fabbing goals for me are to continue with my nails (started buffing yesterday too), a little more gardening and a bit more of my book. I've almost finished that and then I'm going to chick lit for a rest.;)

I was wondering about your DIL's family in Venezuela LL. Have all her immediate family left? I believe that about 1 in 7 of the population have fled and that was before yesterday's flare up.:(

LL - I've always followed the same rule - only one part of the anatomy on show ;) I'm tall with no bosom to speak of when I was younger so it was always legs or back. I do remember wearing a backless halter dress one evening meeting a friend in the local pub. While we were waiting to be served a fellow kissed my back! My friend said 'You should have seen the look on your face' as she collapsed laughing. The fellow apologised, said he couldnt resist it and bought us drinks. I suppose nowadays it would be a PC offence, shame.
I'm trying to follow a more strict regime (actually doing it more like) My glycolic peel first thing in the morning - its very gentle., and leave for 10 mins, rinse off and apply my hyaluronic acid serum and then my Caviar cream. Last thing at night (this is the one to rememebr) the Retinol gel. Nothing to report so far as I've only been doing it this week but every little helps
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Re Venezuela.........DILS mum arrived here on Sunday. Her youngest sister, boyfriend and dad are scheduled to come end of May. (Christening in June). The other sister is currently in Buenos Aires till end of May, when she will return to the U.K., hopefully to take up her residency at some point. (She's a newly qualified doctor). The family are literally scatterd all over the place.

The parents have no plans to leave Venezuela for good but all have EU passports just in case. I can't see either DIL or her second sister ever returning. They actually live about a 10 hour drive from Caracas, and so far their city has been fairly peaceful. They are quite wealthy so although food is very expensive they are not going hungry. Although medicines and toiletries are an issue. They tend to stock up when they visit Europe or either DIL or relatives in Spain send Red Cross parcels.

They have beefed up the security round their house - it's like Fort Knox, surrounded by high steel fencing. No way to live really but they are still hopeful that things will improve.

There was a lot of toing and froing with texts and emails yesterday - a mixture of hope and fear I think. DILs dad is still lecturing at the university part time. He loves teaching and doesnt really want to have to give it up. I guess it's just "wait and see" now.

My son and I were discussing it yesterday and tbh it doesn't look good but I can understand That her parents don't want to leave their homeland. But the young people are leaving in droves. Even when and if things settle it will take decades for their economy to recover.

I think if the youngest sister leaves then the parents will follow. They are talking about buying a bolt hole in Either Madrid or Barcelona. The parents are pretty much heartbroken at the devastation of their country but they don't want to bail unless they have to.

I started having a pity party this morning as I'm getting annoyed with my weight loss stalling.

I then told myself to get over it and get dressed as I had to go to pick up my Chinese herbs.:rotfl: I wore my purple vest top, black New Look cardigan and black knee length skirt with sandals as it's sunny and mild here.

I bought five grey/beige items from charity shops that I'm going to dye deep purple today. A long dress, two cardigans, a top and a sleeveless floaty vest.

    I bought myself a new mascara too.

Yes, that is what I'm doing these days too. I don't care what size it is as long as it fits me well.:)

Wednesday......don't despair. Remember the old adage "persistence pays off". Just remain focussed and stick with it.

As Maman said I have now lost almost 2 stones. The first stone was a devil to shift, it took around 8 months. Then I plateaued for several weeks. For some reason the second stone has been so much easier.....just over 3 months in all, averaging out at around 1lb a week. I am genuinely happy with that.

Yes it has taken the best part of a year for me to,shift that 2 stones and I know there are people who seem to be able to drop a couple of stones in a couple of months but not everyone can.

Whilst my weight loss has been slow and I have felt a bit discouraged at times I am pleased to say that I have no loose flabby skin - something that I understand can happen with rapid weight loss. I am very happy about that. I know which I prefer.

If it takes me another 3 to 6 months to reach my target weight it won't really matter. As long as I get there .......;)

    Are you eating enough.......

I know that might sound daft but I now realise that the reason for my very slow weight loss and for plateauing was I simply wasn't eating enough. I am actually eating around twice as much as I ate before and the weight loss seems to have stabilised to a steady 1 to 1.5lbs a week. That's absolutely fine by me.

I would say just take full advantage of the free foods, there is so much choice and you can fill up and feel satisfied without ever feeling hungry or deprived. Make one or two of your meals each day either zero or very low points so you can have a really nice evening meal and save some points for a treat, a glass of wine, bag of crisps or some chocolate.

And if you do have the odd blip or bad day well just draw a line and get back on track the next day.

I bought a new mascara today too. Lol.

Just having a little break from gardening. its not sunbathing weather as such but it's lovely and warm sat here on my patio.

I dyed the clothes purple yesterday. The dress didn't take so that can be donated back to the chazzer.

The cardigans came out well, one is an Autograph cardigan and I also got a John Lewis top that is 100% cotton and that came out well too. Not bad for £1 each.

I am on a mission to rid the world of beige clothing.:D

I really like the Superdrug vitamin C face wash I bought. It smells like oranges.:)

LL congratulations on your weight loss. All of your hard work has paid off. :D

Wednesday congratulations on losing another 2 pounds of weight finally. You must be so relieved that your hard work is once again showing on your bathroom scales :D

I have not managed to lose any weight or inches this week, but I am not in the least bit disheartened. Onward and downwards. I started at 17 stones 5lbs last year and as I now weigh 15 stones 8lbs, I am more than satisfied at this stage of my weight loss journey. :D

My Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support have finally been completely resolved and I have gained financially. :j:D:T

Hi, not feeling great on new med regime, hoping it all settles soon. Got several blood tests booked over the next few months so going to be like a pin cushion. I have got myself up and out to vote, I always vote. Then we had lunch out, I didn't have much as no appetite but it was pleasant.

Got most of the family visiting this weekend so have been busy changing beds and having a bit of a spring clean. Going to try and have a rest now to build up my energy.
