Wednesday.....I'm wearing a red sweater today. Felt like I needed a red day. :rotfl:

It really does perk me up. :)

I feel better now I've gone out and had some sunlight too.
I'm wearing a multi coloured jumper my aunt knitted me. It was just before she was diagnosed with dementia, I always try to wear it when I see her and she doesn't remember knitting it but she always says how nice it is and is very happy when I tell her she knitted it. She usually says something like, "I was clever then wasn't I." Sort of lovely and sort of sad.

Aw, that is sad, but sweet.xxx

LL - a dress designer of some of the 40's & 50's films was called Edith Head. She designed the most beautiful classic dresses. One of hers that really showed her skill is when Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers are dancing on the stern of a boat to 'Lets Face the Music' a stunningly understated grey dress that moves exquisitely.
Many years ago I bought a Vogue pattern for an evening dress designed by her. I did make it and it was a bit of a b8gger to do as the fit was in the cut but it looked lovely when I'd finished it and was loaned to quite a few friends in its time ;)
Humpty - be glad there were no photos taken when you were so sad and at your very lowest ebb. You really dont want a reminder for how awful you must have felt even now. Hugs.
Dont get too many celebs in my area although when I was in Chichester post office Patrick Moore gave me his place in the queue, bless him - such a lovely kind man. I have also met the late Lawrence Harvey and once attended a dinner given by the then Southern Television - lots of celebs there and dancing to Joe Loss. In later years its been mainly sailing people - Sir Robin Knox Johnson & recently Ben Ainslie (and a photo to prove it lol) Happy days ;)
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
  • Thanks silva. I'd probably have broken the camera. I dread to think what I looked like on either occasion, choice between demented young woman and demented middleaged woman.

I'd forgotten sporty people, I did meet David Wilkie and he was quite dishy. Unfortunately he was more interested in my sons swimming ability than he was in me!

Wow! You've been a chatty lot this morning.:)

Hope you get to see your film today sugarbaby. I've never heard of that happening.

I don't recall meeting celebrities but I suppose I must have met someone over the years.

It was Rowan Williams who was the Archbishop of Cantebury humpty. I've never met him but he was in a the parallel boys' school to mine and has taken Lord Williams of Oystermouth as his title since leaving office. That's where I lived before moving here, lovely seaside village at the beginning of the Gower coast. :)

My bit of fabbing for today was to have the shellac removed from my nails. I love it but I know that I don't look after my nails very well when it's on so I like to have the occasional rest. So I'll be rubbing plenty of oil into my cuticles and shaping my nails regularly over the next few weeks.

While I was out I did some browsing in Matalan as I was close by. I didn't buy anything but they do have some nice things, including some in natural fabrics. I need to have a sort through my summer clothes and decide if there's anything I really need.

I particularly liked this. If you look closely, it has a broderie anglaise front (back is t shirt fabric). If it was mine I'd maybe change the hem and get rid of the tie but it was good for the money.

It's a lovely day here, bright and quite warm. :)
  • Thanks Maman, I was close but I had a feeling there was something wrong. I'm RC so not so well up on CofE but he was very nice.

I like that top, lovely strong colour.

Hi just checking in not too much progress. I have managed to buy a pair of sandles . Joseph Siebel very smart and comfy. I also got hold of the pinch of nom book, and despite it being Easter and there being chocolate in the house I have lost weight.. I will try and catch up later just to say the only two celebs I met were Liz Taylor who was glam and Gordon Jackson who was charming.

I went to dentist yesterday, just a check up and a clean and polish. I need to start flossing and using the little interdental brushes to keep on top of things.

I fly off to see my parents on Saturday so I'm seeing all my children before I go and I'll start packing tomorrow.

The beauty of having barely any clothes is that you just tend to pack everything :)

But the weight loss really needs to be top of the fabbing list when I get home. My knees are starting to hurt and while I'm not sure what I've done, I don't imagine excess weight is helping :)

Glad your film was worth it after all that faffing about sugarbaby.:)

I think they sell that brand of shoes in Shuropody (Scholl as was) so they should be comfy eandj. Glad you found something you liked. :)

Have a good trip Frankie. Sometimes it takes a fresh start (like after a holiday) to focus on a project like weightloss. It's important to get your head in the right place. You're right about the effect on joints. I know I definitely felt literally 'lighter on my feet' after I'd lost weight. I could tell with my dancing. :)

I've been super organised this morning. I got out in the garden straight after breakfast as I wanted to fill up the garden bin as it's collected tomorrow. As I knew I'd get messy I just did my teeth and washed my face and put yesterday's clothes on (and clean knickers!), leaving my shower until I'd finished.

It felt so horrible not having any moisturiser on.:( When I got in and did my hair and slathered myself in serum and moisturiser, the difference was amazing. :D I don't know how people cope who don't use moisturiser. I think that's my No.1 skincare product but then my skin is a bit on the dry side.

My nails are now properly clean after shampooing my hair. I shaped them properly last night and have been oiling them too and using plenty of hand cream. I had a look in my drawer of skincare 'freebies' and found a small tube of Clarins Jeunesse des Mains which is for hands and nails. I plan to use that over the next few weeks. I'll put it by my sofa in the sitting room. I often think it's as much forming the habit as the product but it's good to use things up.

Dancing tonight. I've not been since before Easter so it'll be good to be back as it always uses different muscles so I need to go regularly. I'm going to wear a summer weight skirt or dress as it's a nice day here and reasonably warm too. Maybe today I'll get round to checking through summer clothes.

ETA: This thread is good for me:). I find it supportive and inspiring with just a hint of accountability. I got out my box (one of those Ikea ones) of summer/holiday clothes. I seem to have masses of skirts and tops which I've acquired mainly for dancing. I plan to iron them and if they don't get worn between now and the early autumn they're going to the CS (or back there in some cases;)). I've put away some woollen and velvet skirts to make room in my everyday wardrobe. Two coats that I've not worn all winter are off to the CS. There's just one thing I'd like to buy and that's a cover up to go with my black & cream bikini. I'll keep an eye out for that. Progress.:D

Thanks Maman my local branch of shuropedy closed years ago I went to my local independent shoe shop expensive but worth it. The last pair of scholl I brought was in TK Max but I've worn them out. Mores the pity.
I've started using gloves for gardening. Worn through the fingers on those so a new pair is a must.
