Not feeling very fab today for some reason.:( I think I will have a hot bath and then go for a walk.
I will wear one of the tops I dyed red. I have to stop doing that, almost all my wardrobe is blue or red now.:rotfl:sugarbaby125 wrote: »
Jenny Agutter had a long hiatus in her acting career until she got the role of Sister Julienne in Call the Midwife. She lived in Camberwell and shopped in Morrisons in Camberwell and as I also shopped in that particular Morrisons every week I ran into Jenny Agutter all the time. In the end I became so used to seeing her, that I would call her Jenny as if we were firm friends and she did not object to me being so over familiar with her. :rotfl: Jenny Agutter was always well groomed every time I saw her.
Jenny Eclair lives in Forest Hill and we have crossed paths in Camberwell a few times and she was dressed in her usual eclectic mix of colouful clothing that she is known for, but I love her zany style and fashion sense as it reflects her personality.
Oh that is freaky, when I posted yesterday about seeing Honor Blackman I was saying to my husband that I used to often see the actor Timothy Spall in Forest Hill and lots of people from the TV show The Bill in Camberwell.I used to live in south London.
The last famous person I saw was Russell Brand, he was at the next table in a restaurant. He looked very good.0 -

Other episodes of The Bill were also filmed on and around the Aylesbury Estate which is also in Southwark.

Wednesday I remember the days when The Bill was filmed on and around the streets of the Southwark Estate where my sister H lived. We could see all the cast members and crew every week literally and her children could get signed photos of the cast if they wanted to, which they did but over the years they misplaced the photos.
I own a lovely photo of my 2 older children which Nigel Benn the former professional boxer signed on the back with a personal message for them.He used to have his hair cut in a barbers in Westmoreland Road when we lived in the next street. It was also the barbers that Chris Eubank another professional boxer had his hair cut, so we also saw him on a regular basis.
Humpty it is true that we never know what is going on in other people's lives, but no matter how casual I choose to dress when I cannot be bothered to do a full on groomed look, I would never be horrified to be seen in public.
LL Jenny Agutter was not groomed in the way of Joan Collins or Helen Mirren. She was always simply dressed with barely there make up and yet I noticed her from the 1st time I saw her in Morrisons in Camberwell and asked her inanely 'what are you doing in Morrisons?' to which Jenny answered with a smile, 'my shopping'. :rotfl:
On Saturday I went to Odeon Haymarket to watch the film Wild Rose . The film had only been showing for about 5 minutes when the screen went black. It turns out that there was a power surge that had knocked out the electricity that powered the projector.I lay in my recliner luxe seat and settled down with my current book. An hour later, I finally gave up, as the Odeon staff still did not know when a technician would be available to resolve the issue. I have never experienced this happening in a cinema before and it was so frustrating, but I am planning on returning to see the film today.

sugarbaby I guess we are all different. When I was standing there, devastated that my much wanted pregnancy was ending I really didn't care what I looked like. I am so glad no one took a photo as I think I would be horrified. Similar when my mother died, but to be fair I wouldn't have been horrified to be seen on either occasion at the time as I just didn't care. My head space was totally taken up with my sadness and loss.0

I put on my new Gap red top and my new black maxi skirt. The skirt is far too big and will have to be donated.:D
My skin is looking a little dry, I think I may be using those peel pads too often. I'm only going to use it once a week from now on.sugarbaby125 wrote: »I own a lovely photo of my 2 older children which Nigel Benn the former professional boxer signed on the back with a personal message for them.He used to have his hair cut in a barbers in Westmoreland Road when we lived in the next street. I saw Lennox Lewis in Blackheath once.:p He was very good looking.2025 GOALS

SUgarbaby.....I think Jenny Agutter is one of those rare creatures, a naturally luminous delicate English Rose whose beauty never really diminishes. Even as very old ladies they retain that special magic. As Shakespeare put it. "Age cannot wither her". Jane Seymour is another.
When I worked in the sheltered housing complex a couple of my ladies were like that. They might have been in their 90s and rather frail but they still had that special something that set them apart.
We lesser mortals need a bit more help. :rotfl: well I certainly do. Lol.
I have a cousin who is the same mould. She is now 63 - we actually share the same birthday and she is truly beautiful, a natural blonde with piercing blue eyes and a flawless English rose complexion. In many ways she reminds me of Meryl Streep. My cousin is truly stunning and the miracle is she isn't even aware of how beautiful she is. She remains modest, unassuming and totally lovely in every way you can imagine. If I didn't love her so much I could be quite envious. :rotfl:
Her mother, my aunt, was actually quite a plain Jane, too tall and too big with large bones to be considered pretty - a real hale and hearty "wench" but she was very glamorous and knew how to dress to her advantage. She was handy with a needle and just like the character in the film the Dressmaker she knew how to design and make clothes that flatter.
I would describe my aunt as "stately and handsome". Comparing mother and daughter you would say mum was a handsome shire horse whilst daughter was a dazzling palomino or Arabian thoroughbred. As different as chalk and cheese but both with their own unique charm and beauty.
My aunt loved the old Hollywood movie stars. She had loads of books and fan magazines. She would write to them and collect signed pictures. And she loved to try and emulate them a little by "dressing fancy" as she would call it. She had a saying....and it has always stuck with me.
"A little bit of powder and a little bit of paint,
Can make a thing seem just what it aint".
Whenever I'm looking a little rough around the edges and slapping on the war paint to hide the ravages I always remember that saying and have to smile.0 -
Oddly enough one of the most handsome actor/celebs I've ever met was Bernard Breslaw. Totally unexpected. :rotfl: he really was a very attractive man and nothing like his gormless Carry On character.0

Was he the tall one, he did always seem to play very gormless. I haven't met many celebrities, I did see John Cleese once when I was in a restaurant in London. I've never been a fan of his, not my sort of humour, but he looked very smart. I was introduced to Dennis Waterman once and he was lovely but very quiet and seemed quite shy. Slightly different but at a work event I met the Archbishop of Canterbury, I nearly said Rowan Atkinson :rotfl: I think it was Rowan Williamson? He was very impressive in full regalia and very pleasant to talk to. I think those 3 are my total, maybe I don't notice female celebrities.0 -
I'm wearing a multi coloured jumper my aunt knitted me. It was just before she was diagnosed with dementia, I always try to wear it when I see her and she doesn't remember knitting it but she always says how nice it is and is very happy when I tell her she knitted it. She usually says something like, "I was clever then wasn't I." Sort of lovely and sort of sad.0

Just back from my massage. Feel much better, my muscles feel much loser and somehow "stretched". Certainly not as knotted and tight. If I were a rich and famous celeb I would have my own personal masseuse visit me athome two or 3 times a week. :rotfl:0
