    Good morning lovely ladies.....

Well last night was fun.......:o. Ended up at the NHS walk in centre.....with another wretched UTI.

They were very good though, I was in and out within 15 minutes and then straight to Sainsbury's for my prescription. We are so lucky in this country. I know the NHS gets slammed because it's struggling and it can be difficult to get routine appts etc but when you need help quickly they do deliver.

I was in so much pain and discomfort but thanks to the walk in system and the pharmacy facility in late night supermarkets I got what I needed in record quick time. The nurse who saw me was very kind.

Anyway the ABs kicked in quickly and I had a reasonable night. Feel a lot more comfortable this morning. I had intended getting out and about today but I will just rest and take it easy. It is set to be a beautiful day ......so a perfect excuse to just do nothing and soak up the sun. :D.

    Have a lovely day.......

Apparently John 3 is supposed to be making contact today. :rotfl: he has been messaging me and sending virtual flowers. He wants to phone me today. Will he pass the "good phone test". ;). The virtual flowers show imagination........so a good start. .My late husband was wonderful on the telephone, in fact it was his voice that first caught my attention. I do like a man with a nice voice.

J3lives in Manchester.......he's an artist. Its funny but I always seem to end up in long distance relationships. Every relationship I've ever had has been a long distance one. Even my husband worked away from home a lot......I wonder what that says about me. That I'm a commitment phobe or that I'm too independent. Lol

If I'm honest long distance relationships work well for me. I don't get bored. I get all the good things that go with having a partner but still maintain my autonomy. I get to eat my cake and keep it too. Anyway I'm running ahead of myself. I might not even like him. Ha ha.

I checked out and I've had 47 "matches" and so far he sounds the most interesting. I have never used a dating website before, so have no bench mark but I get the impression that they are very much a numbers game.

As mad as it sounds, believe it or not, I have never actually dated as such. I have had two husbands and one long term partner but never really done the dating thing. They all more or less just landed in my net when I wasn't even fishing........This is whole new territory for me .....it's quite scary. And I'm sure the dating landscape must be very different from back in the day when I was young free and single.

Still human beings are human beings, we can't have changed that much ......we all still have the same hopes and dreams. Hopefully I won't make too many faux pas.

As I've said before I'm not husband hunting, and I do feel quite ambivalent about getting close to someone again. Being bereaved is very different from being divorced. (I divorced my first husband). It's a whole different ball game as they say. I don't have the emotional baggage that can come with a failed relationship but I do still hold my Late husband in my heart.

Is it really possible to let go and allow another love to take up residence in my heart or will my husbands presence and memory be a stumbling block. Can lightening strike twice.

Big questions......but I'm not going to fret or worry too much. I'm going to try and keep an open mind, relax and maybe just enjoy a few fun dates.

    Let the games begin......:rotfl:

Thanks Sheila. I've been wondering how you are. Hope all is well.

Well I'm just sat here in my sunny nook, having just finished my breakfast. Today I have indulged, a cheese and ham filled croissant and Italian coffee. Ooh la la. Very European. :rotfl:

I have been very tired of late (maybe hence the UTI .......being a bit run down). I wondered if I have been too drastic with cutting out carbs so I have decided to experiment a bit and add a few back into my diet. Cue my croissant this morning. Ok not the healthiest of carbs but it was utterly delicious.

Anyway I thought adding a few more carbs might improve my energy levels. Obviously I need to watch out for a return of IBS and GERD so I'll just take it gently.

I have also gone back to taking a vitamin B complex. See if it helps.

Had a trying on session with trousers yesterday.....it is so nice being able to slip into things I haven't been able to wear for a while. Already some are quite loose (small 16s). I shall need to start looking out for 14s in the chazzers.:D.

What is it with you and Johns LL!! Hope you have some fun.:D

Glad to hear you're feeling better this morning. That must have been some pain to take you off to the walk in centre. :(

Not sure what WW advise but SW roughly recommend eating meals that are a third each of lean protein, plain carbs and vegetables. There is a fast track programme (not recommended for long term use) that is 50:50 protein and veg. I find that having three balanced meals like that is enough and then I don't snack.

I've got a busyish week coming up so plenty of opportunity for fabbing. It's my monthly art appreciation class tomorrow and the subject is Manet. I really enjoy these events.:)

Last day of the Premier League season today:footie:. My team is safe from relegation so we can relax and enjoy it. It's bright and reasonably warm but I'll wear a coat as it can get cold when the sun isn't on us. As usual I'll wear team colours so black jeans with a red top under my black quilted jacket. I've never felt the need to wear a football shirt (as many do) but it's a gesture. :)

DH and I will probably go into the city earlyish and have a light lunch. I've done a casserole for dinner so will just need to reheat and do veg when we get back. It's so infuriating when matches get moved around all over the place as it really messes up arrangements. That's the great god Sky for you:mad:. I know that many people think it's worth it to have all the money pouring into the game from television but personally I preferred it when there was fair competition between clubs. :(

Hope you're all having a good weekend. :)

Maman That's interesting about SWs rcommendations about the percentage of proteins, carbs, etc. I have read something similar. As you know I initially cut carbs to control my IBS and GERD and then carried on to try and control my blood sugar levels. I think I may have done it for too long, hence the tiredness. I know we do need some carbs for energy.

Anyway now that I have lost two stones and my blood sugar levels, whilst not perfect, have improved, I think it's safe to introduce a few plain carbs. I'll just see how I go. If the IBS returns then I'll have to think again.

Today I really feel quite grim, nausea and splitting headache.....the usual side effects for me when I take ABs. This time it is a 3 day course (last time it was 7) so at least I won't have to bear it for too long.

I am currently sat out in the garden, not overly warm but the fresh air seems to help. I'll do a bit of gentle weeding after lunch. Just need to nurse myself today because I'm on granny duty quite a bit next week so need to be fit and rested. He's almost walking and a bundle of energy.

I managed a walk to the shops earlier and have treated myself to one of the big broadsheets. i also have several books from the library so plenty to keep me amused. And of course it's the last Victoria tonight.

Enjoy the game, hope your team do you proud.

I tried the other moisturiser and this one was much better, very rich and creamy. It is meant to be for babies so it must be very mild.:A

My husband is working nights this week and that always throws me off a bit as I end up sleeping all day.

I have to go and get my blood tests this week, probably I will go Tuesday or Wedneday. I'm getting checked for B12, iron, cholesterol, diabetes, folic acid and of course my dear old thyroid again to check if the meds are working.:p

    Very fab!

I indulged this week as well, I have to say it's nice not having to think about dieting at the moment.:o:D I had a praline chocolate bar today and it tasted divine!

I haven't gained any weight back which is weird as I haven't been tracking my points or calories at all.

Thanks Candy. I'm feeling a lot better this evening. Tbh I do find granny duties tiring, its pretty full on. He is just at that almost walking stage where he wants to do the finger walking thing. :rotfl: it will be easier when he can actually walk without help.

He's actually a very easy going baby, very happy and contented, no trouble at all. And it's only for another couple of weeks. I do enjoy it but Mother Nature got it right when she gave us the menopause. 24/7 childcare is a young woman's game. It's bloody hard work.

J3 sent me a message that something had cropped up, and that he needed to postpone the call until tomorrow. At least he had the good manners to let me know. ;).

This internet dating thing is interesting though....there are some very odd types on there. Quite a revelation.:rotfl: I'm just going to keep an open mind and not get stressed or hung up about anything. Its easy enough to block the undesirables and nut jobs if they become a nuisance. Lol.

:rotfl::rotfl: just looked at todays "matches"......

I think I might be flogging a dead horse :rotfl:

"Nurse or a purse". ........ Smart woman, your gran.

What gets me is the arrogance of some of the men, either that or they are just plain delusional.

Now I know this thread is all about ditching the frump which means that at some point we have all realised that we need to smarten up and get our acts together, but honestly, some of the men on there

They make no attempt to present well. A lot of them look so scruffy and unkempt. I don't mind casual but omg, some of the photos. I'm not expecting George Clooney but surely a shave and a haircut isn't too much to ask.

As for their resumes......bland, boring, and oh so dull and monosyllabic. I know most men don't "chat" the way we do but again, you'd think they would at least try.

Am I asking too much....Is a shave and a decent conversation really so much of an effort.

Btw I have joined a fee paying website, not a free one. You would think that if someone was paying out good money they would try a bit harder.

    Hey ho......

I will persevere........surely there's a diamond in the rough amongst all the dross.......

Glorious day here. A nice leisurely morning and then Granny duty this afternoon. A nice walk in the park, feed the ducks, a ride on the swings, much easier than trying to keep a little one amused when stuck indoors on a cold wet miserable day.
