I just went to try on the coats again and thought the sleeves look too short on one and realised it was labelled a petite. Doh. Oh well it was only £1.:D

I think when I lose weight I will have to go to a big department store and try coats on. There must be a shop that caters for top heavy women. I've noticed a lot of shops cater to pear shaped women, maybe because that is the more common body shape in this country.

Anyway, I'm about to clean my face and try this peel.

I lusted after a quality double breasted trench coat style mac for years, when I eventually found just the right thing at a clothing agency I was so pleased, sadly it looked awful on me:( Hour glass figure with a very full bust), an expression used by my mother from time to time was spot on "I looked like a sack of potatoes tied in the middle":rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I have never bought anything double breasted since then, I am only just over 8 stone nowadays, but just don't have the height to carry them off. Compensation is there are lots of other lovely things that I can wear.

LL- great news about the nearly fitting summer clothes.

I read that double breasted coats make you look exactly like you have double the size breasts.:rotfl:

I was looking at Bravissimo earlier (for women with a large bust) but the trench coat looked like it had a very full skirt to it which is precisely what I don't want! I don't want my hips to look as big as my bust.:D

I then looked on a few other stores and saw a nice trench coat at Dorothy Perkins. It is a silver grey colour, v neck, single breasted and belted at the waist. Looked perfect. It's called Vero Moda Silver Grey Belted Trench Coat - £38.

I looked at the sizing information and realised that I am a size 14 hip with a size 20 bust. I think that may be the problem. I had no idea I was so out of proportion.:o

I might go in to the store and take sizes 14-20 to the changing room and see if any of them look okay on me.:rotfl:

LL - dont mind the smell of chocolate ot Coconut but some of the tanning lotions have a realy acrid musty smell but as I havn't used one for quite some years I'm sure they've improved. I did buy one today in my Savers shop & I did smell it first ;)
Had a couple of small bargains today - there is a lovely local Cancer charity shop locally that I always look into as there are some real bargains to be had. A very nice brand new Lands End Tshirt with a slash neck & 3/4 vsleeves in my shade of Fuchsia for £2 and I went into Lidly for some sugar and found somedark navy skinny jeans reduced to £6.99 - as I am tall I thought I'd probably cut them down for the summer but when I tried them on they're long enough! Result!
I did see a nice grey trench coat in another CS last week & hummed about it but TBH I rarely wear a full length coat as I drive and have plenty of warm jackets.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

You did well with the jeans silva and fuschia is right on trend!:T

I'm tall too which is why I can wear those wide trousers. :D

I did some unexpected shopping today too. I had an errand to run on the other side of the city so took the opportunity to go into Peacocks (our local one closed down). I've bought a few bits for my holiday. Haven't tried them on yet but I think the dress will be good if not the other things.

This is polyester but it doesn't have that stiff, nylon finish.
I liked the floatiness as I've made the mistake before of taking fitted clothes on holiday.

Again polyester but it genuinely has a cotton feel to it. It's to match this:

This has a proper fitted bra and straps. I don't like halter necks as I find them uncomfortable. I don't exactly need a new one but if it fits and I like it then why not?;)

I don't know what will happen to our Debenhams LL. It had three floors but now they've closed off the top floor completely. The main problem is that it's become separated from the main shopping area when a new mall was built focused around John Lewis and M&S.

Delurking to applaud your taste, Maman. Love all of these. There you go, a big pair of Jackie O sunglasses and you will look a right stunner. Not at all like those ladies in the newspaper. Been giggling to myself all day about that

Lovely beach wear. Such pretty colours.......no beige in sight. :rotfl:

I treated myself to a fake snakeskin jacket in Asda. Very rock chick, not quite what one would expect from a 67 year old granny.

It looks far more expensive than it was and is in that lovely soft micro suede fabric I love so much.

All I need now is some leather jeans......:D.

    LL you go girl.
    Maman love the look.
I have spent two days looking for a pair of sandles with no luck. I need a wide pair fairly flat with a built in instep and back strap so the birkenstocks I saw were no good as they were sliders. The other ones were far too old fashioned and frumpy so the hunt still goes on.
  • I think it is surprisingly difficult to find nice looking but comfortable sandals. Well it is a lovely day here, bright sunshine and blue sky but a bit chilly in the shade.

I don't know what has happened to my garden but a quarter of the lawn is covered in primroses, don't know where they have come from but it looks so pretty. The young man who cuts my grass has been this morning and carefully cut round them so it looks great. I'm no gardener but I do think it is nice to have a garden, I just don't want to be the one doing the gardening :D

^ I was just saying to someone on here that I have problems with my feet and I also find it difficult to find comfortable sandals and comfortable footwear in general!

I didn't notice much difference with the skin peel, but the eye cream really is wonderful.:)

I just ordered some moisturiser from the same Skyn range. It is called cloud cream. Not very MSE as it is expensive but it definitely works. I am 43 years old now after all.;)

Hi all, sorry I haven't been around for ages.

Re: the posts about 'dressing up'. My adoptive mum was an orphan, born in 1908, so very poor. We were not rich when I was a child either, she did not work outside the home and my dad was a machinist in a factory. But my mum always looked smart, she liked wearing navy blue and white, or red and white, both suited her and she was always immaculate. She wouldn't even answer the door without her lipstick on.

I also agree about the two women in BellaItalia, there is no need to look frumpy, whatever age you are. I love my long hair, which still suits me, and I have been dying it since my forties. My hairdreser assures me the colour (a mid red-brown which is a bit lighter than my natural colour), suits me and so does the length. I can wear nicer clothes now that I have lost three stone, that is nice too.

Finally, all this talk of Theresa May, I feel sorry for the woman. Whatever you think of her politics she has worked hard. She looks old and careworn. I agree she has a nice figure, she needs to stand up straight. My husband says she has nice legs :).

I bought a pair of footwear which are apparently sneakers the other day. I could not believe how much I spent on them! They reminded me of Theresa May's shoes, they have a snakeskin pattern and are sparkly :).

Finally, my tortoise is named Theresa after Mrs May (cue comments about slowness of action !) :)
