Dark and damp here this morning, fingers crossed that it clears so that OH can go cycling, I do love some me time and the house to myself, anyway I have appointment with Osteopath, she is bright and bubbly and very thorough, therefore it is usually an uplifting experience, if sometimes ouchy.

LL- you are so right about erring on the side of caution with new treatments. BTW thank you very much for the mention of Butterbean mash on another thread, something I did not know of, I have a tin in the cupboard.

I am still using perfume and mascara every day, lippie has been on hold for a few days as I developed a cold sore:eek: out with the Lysine and the light stick which cut it short by several days. I am considering (again) whether to stop having my hair high lighted/low lighted or whatever, it did not seem to take as well this time. I happily went grey a few years ago, but when I became poorly I looked too washed out, even with blusher etc, but so many people are kindly telling me that I look well, I might try again.
The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)
  • Well I am going to give you a laugh on this not so bright morning, at least it isn't very bright here.

So last night I go upstairs with my new tube of cream, I usually use a moisturiser in a jar so this was a change. Went in the bathroom and picked up my hair treatment as I was going to sleep in it ready to wash my hair this morning, I have done that. I decided to get my hair in good condition for the big hairdressing trip on Friday. So I put the news on and settle down to massage moisturiser in and then do my hair. So all going well, face feeling well moisturised and then I reach for the hair treatment except you guessed it I had already used it all over my face and neck. I am expecting to be sporting a full beard and handlebar moustache in the near future.

My skin has survived and looks OK this morning. I should have gone to SpecSavers.

:rotfl::rotfl: senior moments.....you gotta love them.

Maddie.....I think butterbean mash can be a bit bland but it responds well to seasoning. ;)

Youngest son coming in a bit. He will do a couple of the heavy jobs for me and I'll cook him a nice brunch. We lived together for several years, so now I really miss him at times. He's a real pal. And yet he was such a Kevin......:rotfl: quite a handful. Now he's just fab. We usually have a good natter and a bit of a giggle.

I have had niggly backache for a few days, Massage this afternoon. Hopefully it will loosen up a few kinks.

Bright and sunny but a very cold wind.

I have pure white hair now, I would love to have it coloured but it just won't take so a complete waste of time and money. Just have to channel my inner "Mother of Dragons"........:rotfl::rotfl:
  • I bit the bullet yesterday and went into the hairdressers to make my appointment and have a consultation. I am going to be going darker blonde with some highlights run through as opposed to the very light blonde I am now, and have my hair cut into a long bob with a bit more length at the front to allow the shorter hair at the back to grow more in line with the rest of my hair, as it's quite obvious at the moment.

I'm very nervous as I have always wanted to have long lovely hair and not short hair, but I have accepted that taking this step to getting it growing healthily will help me achieve that goal in the long run :) all booked in for the 25th :o

    Thanks guys!

Your new hairstyle sounds like it will be lovely SSDD23.
Skin peels.....follow,the instructions to the letter. Don't try to wing it and make sure you time it properly.
However, although mine says leave on for 10 minutes, I have started at just 5. That's enough to begin with. I can always increase the time later.
Yes you will need sun protection and I tend to do mine in the late afternoon when I know I'm not going to be going out again that day. You might also find you need extra moisturiser. I use the special calming solution that came with the kit,and then more moisturiser about 30 minutes later.
Err on the side of caution......;)

Will do! I won't do it today then as I have the Chinese herbalist tomorrow. I will do it when I get in.

I am expecting to be sporting a full beard and handlebar moustache in the near future.

I just went out to a local shop, you know the type that sells random stuff very cheaply? Not a £1 shop, but cheap.

I wanted to look for a box to put my necklaces in as I just bought a couple of new ones. I found a purple plastic cutlery box that will do as it is only going to be inside my chest of drawers.:D

I also bought some tinned ackee, some people on here might know what that is, it's a fruit but I eat it in a savoury way on toast or rice.

It's nice not having to do WW points anymore.:rotfl: I stepped on the scales and I haven't gained any weight at least.

I was thinking that considering I have hypothyroidism it's a miracle I managed to lose 3 and a half stone over the past few years really!

My Amazon order just arrived. I bought a new purse, it's big enough that it could be used as a clutch bag as well. It's black with a skull on the front. I think it's quite cool.

I got an aquamarine Tree of Life necklace from Amazon as well. It's pretty.

I will try out that new eye cream tomorrow as well. Damn, that is a small tub of cream for the price!:p

:rotfl: loving the story about the tubes of cream humpty. Hope you don't suffer any ill effects.:)

That sounds like a worthwhile trip to the shop Wednesday. That sort of low cost retail therapy is just perfect.:) I like to browse in those sort of shops too. It's a bit like the CS, you never know what you'll find.

I can't remember who recommended podcasts on here a while ago but a big thank you!:) I've been gradually getting turned off so many radio programmes lately. I hate the constant dumbing down and drivel that's on most of the time. While I haven't listened to any podcasts as such I've been using the BBC Sounds App to catch up on radio programmes that I've missed or are on at times when I wouldn't normally be listening. So a bit like recording TV programmes and watching things that appeal rather than whatever's on. Last week I listened to Jane Austen's Mansfield Park, This week I've been listening to Joanna Trollope and a documentary about a massacre in Amritsar 100 years ago as we visited the memorial garden while we were there. It's easy to just potter about doing chores and listen at the same time.:)

Another of my goals is to wear jewellery more often. I don't have pierced ears so I rarely wear earrings. I wear gold bracelets 24/7, a watch and my wedding ring but everything else just stays in my jewellery box most of the time. I've been making an effort recently to wear some of my dress rings so that's a start. I've also got a Trollbeads (similar to Pandora) bracelet in neutral colours which I wear with the right outfits.

I don't know if anyone else read in today's paper about the problems that Caf! Rouge/Bella Italia are having. It seems there's some issue every day with a one business or another. What jumped out at me was the two women in the photo illustrating the article. It's because of women like them that I'm on this thread! Frumpy or what.

Dull and damp here too.:( Dancing again tonight so good reason to get fabbed up.:)
  • Did a face mask last night to give my skin a little pick-me-up, and tinted my eyebrows whilst I was in the bathroom doing that, too. I did try and have a nice relaxing soak in the tub but due to boiler issues we are having, I didn't notice the hot water had run out nearly as soon as I started running the bath, so that was a no-go :rotfl:

Maman......Re: the pictures of those ladies...I see what you mean.

Now before anyone shouts at me, I am not being unkind. If you are dirt poor and simply can not afford to dress well then so be it. However, if you were dirt poor then you wouldnt be able to afford mid price restaurants.

Tbh I have seen worse. They weren't scruffy or unkempt just a bit bland and boring. They do rather scream, middle aged can't be bothered any more.

I was walking down our high street the other day..,..and oh the sights I saw. So many people, so fat they could hardly walk and by no means were they all middle aged or older. There were lots of young people struggle to walk up what is really only a slight incline.

You have ask yourself if they are in that state when they are 20, huffing and puffing as they walk then what on earth are they going to be like at 50. Will they even make it to 50.

I'm afraid the East Midlands does have the unenviable reputation of being one of the highest areas of fat people per capita. And the day I was out it seemed they were all out in force.

And of course, I do get that when you are fat you don't feel like dressing up or making any kind of effort.

But, fatness aside, I really don't understand how we became such a scruffy nation. And yet, as a nation, we spend a small fortune on clothing. It doesn't add up does it.

My parents were working class and of modest means. We lived in a council house. I can remember my mother and all her friends and neighbours would dress up to go Into town. They would wear something nice, style their hair, put their make up on. Some would even wear hats, although mum was never a hat person. My dad too would also scrub up before going into town, either a suit or at least jacket and trousers.

Then, when they got home, they would change out of their good clothes, and back into their house clothes. Everyone we knew did it. I was taught to do it. The first thing I had to do when getting home from school was change out of my school uniform, and woe betide me if I didn't. School uninforms cost a lot of money in those days. No cheap generic school clothes from supermarkets, you could only get uniforms from specialist suppliers.

Now anything goes......even down to the infamous Pjs in Asda. What is that about. And so many people just look plain awful, either scruffy and down at heel or at best bland and boring.

And it isn't about money. You don't need to be rich to make an effort and look half decent. A couple of good basics dressed up with some nice accessories is not going to break the bank. And A slick of lipstick takes 10 seconds. :rotfl:

Dreadfully cold wind here today. Going to have a cooking and decluttering day and then a facial and manicure later.

I got into the shower today and reached up to wash my face and my eye area felt noticeably softer than the rest of my face. That eye cream is good. Pity is is so expensive. You only need a tiny amount, though. The brand is Skyn Iceland. I read a while back that it was one of the best vegan, cruelty free brands on the market.

I looked and the skin peel are actually pads that you wipe on your face. I will try that when I get in this afternoon. Same brand.

I get changed into my pyjamas when I get home.:rotfl: I've done it since I was at school.

I have swapped all my pyjamas so they look like normal clothes though, comfortable trousers and t-shirts, but all in black so on first glance (to any delivery drivers) I look like I'm dressed.

I sometimes put a necklace on to make it look more convincing.:p

Yes, it's the type of shop where you buy more than you meant to, but it was very cheap anyway.:D
