Evening all - just catching up with you all over the last couple of days ;) You are all doing so well - doesn't matter if it's little steps or large steps - they are all steps in the right direction to improve your health and wellbeing
I'm on 100 microgrammes of Levothyroxine and have been for about 25+ years. Hav'n't noticed any difference but my thyroid operations were for goitres. I do have annual blood tests but obviously the dosage is correct for me.
Humpty - I tried that one too and didn't like it - too stiff for my aging skin lol. I've just bought the Aldi Caviar day cream and I'm impressed. The consistency is good, smells nice and feels good on my skin - and it's inexpensive - what's not to like ;)
Boat went in the water yesterday - a full on day that turned cold and windy - I was shattered when I got home however this morning had a nice bath, moisturise, washed my hair and used the Aldi blonde conditioner that had been recommended - that was nice too ;)
LL I need to work on my muscle tone and strength too. I do a yoga session every week and try to walk as much as I can but struggle to do 5000 steps a day let alone 10000! My kitchen workouts have lapsed this week so I do need to get back on the wagon. Can't remember where I heard it from but as you get older apparently you should make sure you can get up from the floor unaided......!!
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

    Hi all

Sounds like everyone is doing well fabbing and getting ready for spring!

I need to step it up. The tip about doing your face routine when you get in is obvious but something that I really need to do. Whilst I always remove my make up fobefore bed I'm lazy with the rest! I have a fringe so don't want to slather on night cream just before bed as it will get greasy so if I do it earlier I can clip my fringe back and let it soak in. I never moisturise my neck and chest and noticed my chest is looking a bit lined and I'm only 33! So I will slather my night cream on my neck and chest as well!

I'm intrigued about the aldi caviar creams. I use no7 perfect and protect (the green one) so wondering how they compare as obv much cheaper.

I returned from New Zealand two weeks ago so really trying to keep up with the creaming as my legs are going a little scaly from the central heating and nit enough cream! I exfoliated last night and slathered on the cream so feeling soft today :)

Can I ask if anyone has tried a bust cream they think is any good? I have really big boobs (34g) and would like to try and help them stay a bit perkier. Body pump should help when I restart that as it works your chest muscles but looking for something to help the skin. There are obv lots of expensive products out there but don't know if any actually work!

Sorry i havent been posting much , but im reading everyones posts and im there with you all the way . March & April are our family birthday months , seems every week its someones . yesterday was my GD "2nd birthday party ( Shes like the Queen ) one tea party on the day . one birthday party at the weekend for her little friends , Chips and chicken nuggets,,,,,,but i made sure i filled up on healthy foods before we went , and just had one small glass of diet coke , so its all good . ive hit a plateau with the weight , but onwards and "Downwards" it will move again when its ready as im sticking to healthy eating ,
Loving all the skin care discussions , Ive never ( Or very rarely) worn make up ( I tend to look like the Joker when i try and apply make up ) but ive always used moisturiser on my body from being a teen , and later life always used the Aldi face cream and serum , and dare i say my skin looks very youthful . I want to try and get my teeth whiter. I havent needed any dental work for MANY years , but i do have them cleaned and polished , but the bottom 4 teeth look stained to me , Im 65 so obviously all the black coffee ive drunk will have done damage , but i limit that and am always cleaning my teeth , My dentist told me some alarming info last time i went for the clean and polish , I have a heart problem , and apparantly you have to keep your mouth and gums really clean as this is a big factor in heart conditions , i didnt know that . They said my teeth were excellent but i really wish i could whiten those bottom 4 teeth a bit , I did ask about it at the dentist ( The paste thing you put on with a gum sheild type thing ) but the price from the dentist was way out of my price range .so will have to look at alternatives. Anyone tried anything that works , I know im old but we used to use soot and bicarb when i was growing up as a teeth whitener lol

Moll Bi carb will help whiten teeth. :D. And your dentist is right, gum care is extra crucial if you have any kind of heart defect.

    Well good morning lovely ladies....

Skin clinic today and WW workshop tonight, Massage tomorrow. Did a skin peel on Saturday. Did 2 last week and I can really see a difference. Going to do 2 a week for the next 4 weeks.

Told you I mean business. I have really upped my game with the skin care this last week and it's starting to make a difference.

Re cleavage. The skin there is extra delicate and requires good care, especially in the sun. I know this sounds anal but when I'm sunbathing I cover it with a scarf or towel or whatever. And wear sunscreen if you wear v neck, scoop necks or anything that shows your cleavage.

Whilst we all like a gentle tan (no not teak garden furniture colour), the awful truth is tanned skin is damaged skin.

My mum once saw me lying prone in the full midday sun and said "come in or go under the apple tree, never lie in full noon day sun, unless you want to end up with skin like a crocodile handbag".

    She was right of course......

My Belgian grandparents worked the land and never worked outside in the fierce midday sun. My grandmother had beautiful skin, especially her shoulders and cleavage, even at 90 when she died.

I am more inclined to fake a tan these days and stay out of the worst heat of the day.

By the way......inspect your limbs......if you have white patches please be aware that these are areas of skin where there is no melanin. Shins are usually where white patches show up. If you have them take extra care. No melanin production means increased risk of skin cancer. And yes I'm talking melanoma.

The sun feels wonderful on our bodies and it has amazing health giving properties but we need to be aware of its awesome power and we need to treat it with respect.

    Safety first.

I've made up for yesterday's slobbishness by doing the full works this morning. So I'm all showered and slathered and blow dried.:D

We're away for a few days next week and have a black tie event on Sunday evening so I'm working towards that. I used fake tan along with my body lotion as arms will be on show on Sunday and I don't want to look pale and pasty. I need to make an appointment for eyebrows for Friday and I'm having my hair trimmed and blow dried on Saturday so quite a bit of fabbing going on. :)

While I know I look much better with a tan I agree about not roasting yourself LL. On my sunshine holiday, we sit under the umbrella until late afternoon unless we're walking around. I definitely use sun screen and masses of moisturiser and body lotion afterwards (prefer that to branded after sun).

While getting your skin in good condition is paramount moll, I do like a little light make up. I think it helps with definition. In the winter months I generally use a light tinted moisturiser but I've not needed that this year since I got back from India. I'm currently using the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm, defining my eyebrows with a powder then mascara and lipstick. I also like a highlighter which I put on my browbones and cheekbones. That's enough for everyday use. When I go out on Sunday I'll probably use some blusher as well and maybe some concealer under my eyes although I need to practise more with that.

Out at my art group tonight. This month's subject is the Bayeux Tapestry. I've seen it many times but I expect there'll be some new insights. I always do a bit of people watching around the audience while I'm waiting for the lecture to start. I think I've posted before that I'm always surprised that people who are there because they like beautiful things can be so careless in their own appearance. Not sure what I'm wearing yet but will definitely make an effort with clothes and make up. :)
  • I don't tan just freckle and burn so I learned along time ago to protect my skin. I always use sun cream, normally factor 50. I was pleased when I had my facial and beautician looked at my skin through a magnifier and said, "I can see you use a good SPF." I said I did, always use it usually a 50 and she said it really shows. A couple of times during the treatment she said, "Your skin is really good." So all those years when I wished I could tan, could even sit in the sun have paid off in the end. I can remember longing for a tan when I was a teenager and I doubt that I would have felt in the slightest bit encouraged by the thought of good skin at 65, I couldn't even imagine being that old.

I've bought a different Lidl skin cream, it is in a tube and is called Classic Cream. It is much better.

    Candy.......enjoy......but just don't burn.

And try not to come back looking like Madge from The Benidorm programme. :rotfl:

Got on well At the skin clinic. The lesion on my neck is nothing sinister (but obviously already having had one bout of skin cancer I am ultra cautious now). It's just an age related keratosis thing. It's a bit angry looking because some of my sweaters have been catching it.

The cycst is a bit more problematical but again it's benign so no real urgency. I'll get them both sorted in due course. They are not too obtrusive.

He was pleased with the pdo threads, said they are lasting really well and suggested that next time I could look at lasers. More effective, less invasive and subsequently a lot cheaper.

He has advised retinol, so I'll get that started after I have finished the skin peels.

I have always steered clear of retinol in the past because of my sensitive skin. I felt The older formulations were just too strong for me. But science and technology move on and retinol now comes In much gentler compounds than it did previously.

I shall give it a whirl.

I ordered a skin peel and some eye cream today. It's quite a luxury brand for me so I hope they are good!:)

I just cleaned my face and now have an mud mask on. I'm going to put on some facial oil mixed with chamomile essential oil afterwards.

Hmm, I feel quite energetic today. It's only the third day of taking the Levothyroxine. It's meant to to take 7 days to notice any change.

I vacuumed downstairs, mopped the floor, cleaned the bathroom and did a load of laundry. I then cleaned the french windows and the window frames inside and out. They were bloody gross, lol!:o

I managed to put the clean curtains back up on the pole on my own without my husband helping me. I haven't been able to do that since about 2016!

I don't feel tired as well now, that would normally have exhausted me.
