  • Seeing news of ziffit baskets this morning inspired me to scan our school books from last academic year.
Lovely to have a bit of money instead of books we no longer need or enjoy. There's also the added bonus of less to dust. :T

Not made much progress this week...illness and general down-ness (my body hates the cold...damned thyroid!) has meant I've had to leave everything at a minimum. Hoping to get a bit more done next week as I have hubby home to help me do some more heavy stuff like taking the rubbish out of the loft. I did sort my kitchen out a little and put 3 bags of rubbish out from that alone...the house is a bit behind shall we say! I know I have at least 2 bags to take the charity and 2 ebay items finishing tonight that will leave the house on Monday :D

I was impressed with Ziffit - took a while but it all went smoothly and not too badly priced really.

  • I'm back everyone, couple of busy weeks so no posting for me, although I did a mini declutter.
The previously sorted towels etc went to animal care place down he road. I made another carrier bagful of bits up for charity shop and have taken that to them - mainly hats that my son has outgrown but they will keep a little boy warm this time of year and they are no longer in random places around the house. Last week I also sorted out the cupboard where I keep my glassware. Chucked the chipped ones, put a couple in CS bag as odd and now have a nice tidy shelf of the sort of glasses we use (wine glasses for example). The shelf above has empty glass jars and lids and I use these for storage jars - a sustainable way of food storage instead of plastic for example. I have sorted them properly and put lids on, all the oddments are in my car to go to glass recycling. I also found a fancy empty wine glass I was keeping for some bizarre reason and found a bottle of rum with a bit left in that I need to declutter tonight.
Off to clean and tidy now and maybe come across some more bits to declutter.

Currently joining those who feel a little down, tired (or in my case exhausted)
This time of year plays havoc with my poor bod.. :(

I aim to find at least one thing for the CS or recycling before bed!;)

Added a few bits to the bags I already had: 8 to the charity shop, 28 to the record store (kerching) and a further 14 going out tomorrow to We Buy B00ks (kerching)

If I thought about the sunk costs, i.e. how much I'd spent on the stuff in the first place, I would get awfully miserable. I am where I am, the decisions are made and let's get on with it...

Mrs Salad Dodger, you asked if I planned to burn or shred. I know there are a couple of sentimental things I would prefer to burn but may need to shred... disadvantage of living in a flat without a fireplace :rotfl:

  • Encountered a win after brunch today! DH decided to sort his entire desk and filing cabinet. He spent a good 2 hours organising, filling a charity bag and shredding. It's been like music to my ears. :rotfl:

I had a small win today. I gave my oldest DS a box containing a china tea service that belonged to our mum. Mum died when I was 18 months old and came to me with a pile of other stuff after my Dad died in 1993.

She chose to have the service years and years ago, I also had one. Hers has been in the alloted box in the loft for nearly all of that time as she never had anywhere to put it. I did get it down once and replaced a missing cup from The bay of E. Funnily enough it had exactly the same painters marks on the bottom.

Anyway. Today she finally got the service. I delivered it to her in her new house and she was chuffed to bits.

I went up into the loft this week and have decided to clear it totally out except for the Christmas decs that aren't up there yet. They also need sorting as they were packed away in a bit of a hurry.

Will be doing this in the next few weeks. Just need to decide what to do with my wedding dress. I made it by hand 23 years ago. There is a LOT of fabric in that. Better go and give pintrest a visit.
