I was going to do lots of big sorting out today, but it was just too cold so I say by the fire sorting out some boxes of stuff.

116-122) I am finally sorting through my parent's stuff that has been boxed up since they died. I found some broken jewellery that has no sentimental value so sold that to Hatton Garden Metals for £200. I intend to use some of the money for concert tickets which would please my parents who both loved music.

    123) Spice rack sold on ebay.

    124-131) CDs sold on Ziffit.

132-133) CDs put in charity shop bag.

    134) Laundry bag sold on ebay.

135-138) Three boxes of sewing threads sold on ebay.

I hope to sort out some magazines and stuff for the recycling tomorrow.

I had a small win today. I gave my oldest DS a box containing a china tea service that belonged to our mum. Mum died when I was 18 months old and came to me with a pile of other stuff after my Dad died in 1993.

She chose to have the service years and years ago, I also had one. Hers has been in the alloted box in the loft for nearly all of that time as she never had anywhere to put it. I did get it down once and replaced a missing cup from The bay of E. Funnily enough it had exactly the same painters marks on the bottom.

Anyway. Today she finally got the service. I delivered it to her in her new house and she was chuffed to bits.

I went up into the loft this week and have decided to clear it totally out except for the Christmas decs that aren't up there yet. They also need sorting as they were packed away in a bit of a hurry.

Will be doing this in the next few weeks. Just need to decide what to do with my wedding dress. I made it by hand 23 years ago. There is a LOT of fabric in that. Better go and give pintrest a visit.

If you don't want to keep it there is a charity that turns unwanted wedding dresses into burial gowns for babies. I don't know much about them, but I remember seeing them mentioned in the press. https://www.cherishedgowns.org.uk/3-donating-a-dress

    Hi everyone!

I haven't been on here for a couple of weeks now, but I have still been de-cluttering. It did come to a stop around 10 days ago as I was struck down with a stinking cold, chest infection and Laryngitis all at once:eek::(
Slowly getting back on my feet now, on my 2nd lot of antibiotics for chest infection, woke up this morning with my voice back after 10 days with no voice, and still got a cold but feeling much better than I was.

Yesterday I took 5 black bags to the charity shop, I'm still waiting for the BHF ringing me back to arrange a time for collection, ,have called 3 times now, so it's their loss and another charities gain, with another 2 bags added to the haul for them.
Now I'm feeling better again I'll make a start on the attic, I've got summer clothes up there that need sorted and put into my new chest of drawers that I have a whole drawer free:eek: and a few bits in the new wardrobe too.

Plans for today is get rid of the small pile I've got accumulating in the corner of my room again, clean the bathroom and go through the bits and pieces I have there that haven't been used, if I haven't looked or used them since before Christmas then out they go as I clearly don't need them.

I've a few bits to post this week from sales on Ebay, one is finishing tonight so that's be another bit of money to pay the credit card off and de-cluttering at the same time:T

Hope everyone is keeping well. I'm off to have a quick read of the last few pages before dinner x

  • I had to throw away the brush from a dustpan and brush as it got cat poo on it. Gross.:rotfl:

I have two other dustpan and brushes anyway, for some reason!

I was cleaning out my cupboard and realised I have three lots of tin foil! I need to keep an eye on why I keep buying multiples of things. I need to check before I order groceries.

I just got rid of some wine bottles at the bottle bank and gave the last of the bird food to the birds.

I threw away some dog toys too.

I'm using up the last of the conditioner I don't like that much to shave my legs later.:A

I am working on a kitchen inventory spreadsheet as I found I kept buying things I already had lots of. I also kept finding expired stuff in my pantry I had forgotten about. So far the column headings I am using are item, location, expiry date, quantity. I think it will save me money and prevent me wasting stuff. It will also mean I don't have to open every cupboard and drawer when deciding what to cook. When I am decluttered I am actually thinking of doing an inventory for other areas of the house. I expect that will make me look like a loon, but never mind!
