Dropped off a bin liner of stuff to local CS. I still have a bin liner of my better stuff stored in the loft to take to the Children's Hospice CS - I need to organise a lift for that one as its quite a bit further.

Today's decluttering included
1 Hoola Hoop
1Wicker Laundry Basket
1Picture
1Bag of Books
All the above went to the charity shop
I treated myself to some new tops today becasue although I have quite a few clothes my wardrobe is full of things I no longer wear,so today I bought 4 tops I can wear with any of the bottoms I own ( 4 pairs of skinny jeans and 2 pairs of jeggings) this means I can go through my wardrobe and get rid of most of it,so I'm doing that on Monday,I'm getting all my clothes out of the wardrobe and drawers and I'm ditching everything that doesn't look great or that I haven't worn in the last 9 months :eek:Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1200 -
I just wanted to share a decluttering rule I saw online that I think is really useful. You may all know it already, but it was new to me. It is called the 20-20 rule and you use it if you are dithering over decluttering an item. If the item can be replaced for under $20 and in under 20 minutes you declutter it. It makes me think of all the times I have spent ages dithering over decluttering some mugs that could be bought from my local supermarket for a couple of quid!
That's brilliant! It really helped me on some things.0 -
A good day's work!
107 - last documents to accountants for tax return: most went in July so they've been really slow asking for these!
108-109 misc pile of papers to filing/recycling
110-115 (nominal) umpteen empty cardboard boxes which the xmas online shopping arrived in - burned or flattened and recycled.
To the chazzer:
116 a towel ring, still in box
117 a tartan scarf
118 a kid's wooden play shield
119 a magnifying glass that hangs around the neck
120 a cleaning kit metal bucket - unused!
121 a fluffy scarf - used to love it but no longer, so thanked and out!
122-3 two summer hats
124 a headscarf with a horrible print. I think I kept it for ages as my mother in law gave it to me, but she's surely forgotten by now!
125 solar radio, doesn't pick up signal well.
126 another smelly candle
127 gas safety lighter, one of those refillable long nozzle things.
128-130 three blind cord tensioners.
131 stripey top, unwanted gift
132 squashed man bookmark
133-134 two small pretty pottery dishes
134 another scarf
136-7 two belts, wrong colour, never used. (note to self ..)
138 pair pretty shoes, wrong size (ditto...)
139-140 two bras, wrong size (ditto again!)
141 another belt
142-143 another two scarves
144 another book
145-146 two prs socks
147-147 two shrugs
148 2 cuddly toys
150 a watercolour not to my taste
151 another belt!
152-154 three little lights
To bin:
155-160 collection of tourist brochures from holidays taken 2-5 years ago!
161 pair worn out deck shoes - but kept the leather laces for Justin :rotfl:
163-164 two pots of OOD exzema cream,
165-166 two old sponges
167-169 bag of bits and pieces, some rubbish, some recycling, all out of the bedroom.
All this and I've barely scratched the surface!
Cracking on...0 -
It's funny, it really helps me see progress when I list everything like this, before I start to see a difference in a room.
But it must be boring as anything for others to read!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
I've had two bursts of decluttering in recent days: some papers and some freezer stuff (not things we'd just bought in but forgotten bits and things that needed creativity).
That's 29 to add to my signature.
Keep up the good work everyone!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

GreenQueen please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your father and to you keepcalmandcraft on the loss of your mother in law.
this week I have cleared our airing cupboard and donated 4 bags of duvet covers, pillowcases a pair of brand new navy curtains I had bought a few years back for sons room. They never were used and its silly them just lying on a shelf.
Hit the utility room and donated lots of clothes that were just lying around.
Went through husbands clothes and got rid of some tops shirts etc that were past their sell by date.
Loads of bits bobs dumped and recycled etc.
So another 8 bags to add to the total.0 -

Friday night, I came over all ‘peculiar’My own fault as I didn’t realise how cold I was until I started shivering violently & this with central heating available
Apparently I had the first stage of hypothermia & it took nearly 2 hours for my DH to warm me up (in bed
) so that I stopped shivering. Anyway no harm done apart from frightening my DH & if I am honest myself as well. Live & learn
Saturday - first woke up at 6.00 am & made a hot drink & phoned bank to pay cc bill :rotfl: I love 24 hour telephone bankingI have kept myself warm today

Morning.. Been awake since the early hours, have made them productive though.
Cleared out my wrap, cards and bits basket, some gone to recycling, bag of bits to take to my sister (she’ll use them at work):A
Made up birthday gift bags for those who I have already purchased, any I had got the card for has gone inside the bag too!
Organised my gift store.. some items for charity (work tombolas, etc)
2x shoeboxes recycled into homeless gift boxes.
Kitchen sink cupboard cleaned out, bits of gibble thrown, washed out..
(I have a boiler man coming tomorrow to service the boiler and replace a pipe.. so I wanted it clean:rotfl:)
MrsSD, please keep yourself warm, it’s easier than you think to pick up a chill or worse, like you found out.. I am forever adding layers to the residents clothes or giving blankets as they often dont realise how cold they are until its a problem.. Glad MrSD was availible to share a lil body warmth
Also wanted to say a big thank you to you all for your support after I had my lil grumble on Friday..Much appreciated.:D
