WhiteMusk and MrsSD - i'm doing what you say re 'airing' my bed as soon as i leave it then making it a short while later! it does lift my spirits to see a neat and tidy bed in a room of clutter :( I have 4 bags for the charity shop so far - i need to declutter them from the landing now....

I've booked a gym induction so i can hopefully declutter some flab soon too;)

    Take care everyone

I am sending copious hugs to GreenQueen and my sincerest condolences on the loss of your Dad and gentle hugs to Parsniphead and anyone having a difficult time.
Not much decluttering yesterday ( took my Dad shopping ........ 4 hrs and I was shattered by the time we got home  ) or today, except a chipped tea plate in the bin and DH bought a new drill and the box went straight in the recycling :T He tried his new drill and then put more rubbish from his workshop into the bin bag..... he definitely has caught the decluttering bug :j
In the charity bag went another soft toy/ heat pad and a leather jacket that no longer fits DH.
I also decluttered 4lbs in weight :j ( now I must keep on going with my diet :D )
Keep up the good work all.
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently

57-58) Books in charity shop bag
59-60) Manky make-up bag and DVD in the bin
61-70) Box of books/DVDs/CDs sent off to Ziffit

I also deleted a ton of emails and unsubbed from a lot of email newsletters. I found some emails that should have been dealt with but got lost in the digital clutter. Eeek! I think I am going to have to vow to clear my emails at the end of each day.
  • Flooring all down and it looks lovely. After dark carpets, cream makes the whole room so much brighter. I likey. :j My bedroom looks like a completely different room, bigger too.

Nothing done today and I won't be able to do any thing tomorrow morning but will start properly tomorrow afternoon.

I'm hoping to have my home back by the end of next week. My bedroom won't be done as my new furniture won't be here but the rest of my house should all be back to normal and regimental Sargent White_musk will have kicked her own bum and done quite a bit of clearing out.

Get me, lets see how near (or far off) the mark I am. :rotfl:

I've put the washing away and sorted a bag of old school uniform to go to the reception class. Off it will go tomorrow.

Oh and a big bag of rubbish in the bin along with many, many single socks.

Sending out positive vibes and feelings to all those in need...

Busy week driving other people around a lot! Can't wait for DH to be back on the road on Monday and taking his share again. :j:j:j

96-101 items ordered online for Christmas presents not needed so returned.:T
102 thermos posted back to Stanley under lifetime warranty (only 25 years old!) hopefully to be replaced as is a big green one.:T
103 another flebay sale to the post! :j
104 jumper returned to owner, left behind at Christmas
105-6 DH xmas pressies to goddaughters that he never got around to posting:eek::rotfl::rotfl:
107 dead flowers to the heap!

That puts me over 100 at least! I'm going to have to get a wiggle on though to keep on track for the year, but I haven't started on my clothes and shoes yet which really need a sort through. Perhaps this weekend....

I also have loads of my divorced parents' stuff as they downsized (DF) and died (DM). It's so hard to get rid of some of it, though I think I am gradually getting better with time and practice. A dozen photo albums of views and people I don't know? Think I'll pull out a few photos and the rest can go.

A box of stuff for the CS & a couple of bags of stuff taken to CS. All gone & boy does that feel like an achievement.
Have set of crockery but couldn't carry that today, but that will go next time. It's perfect but dark coloured and I don't like it - so why did I buy it?
Because it was cheap....no excuse..I know.
  • 1. SMALL TASKS WILL BE DONE ASAP
    2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I ENTERED
    3. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
    4. WHEN DEALING WITH CLUTTER I WILL USE ‘Daisy1571’s idea of ‘WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THIS ITEM IF IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S ?’
    5. IF I WAS STARTING FROM SCRATCH, WOULD I BUY THIS?
    6. BE LIKE A POSTAGE STAMP - STICK TO ONE THING UNTIL YOU GET THERE

Thursday has been a better decluttering day :D The crate is almost empty & I have shredded, recycled & put items in CS bag. DH took DSis to the hospital to get the results of her Gynae tests - everything OK :) Apparently she was in the lift longer than she was with the Dr :rotfl: Have done a wash load which is now in the td :) DH & I inished off the hm soup & hm croutons for lunch. We have all had the 2nd half of last night’s takeaways for dinner - yummy 🤤
P.S. I have been sticking to my mantras :p

134 - 138 Two plastic lids, plastic takeaway box, pair DH socks, DH underpants (both bidding for sainthood :rotfl: ) - binned
139 - Shredding 0.75” pile of personal paperwork
140 - 144 Two inch pile of brochures, leaflets etc; magazine read; 2 large cardboard delivery boxes dismantled - recycled
    145 - 164 A4 Snap frame; 3 paper crafting bits; Souvenir Books :- Medina, Malta; Statue of Liberty, NY; Muir Woods, SAN Francisco; Disneyland, Los Angeles; Grand Canyon, Arizona; New England Aquarium, Boston; pair of socks; 9 Cardboard photo folders in various sizes;

I will finish the crate tomorrow & hopefully start on the 2nd & LAST crate in the spare room :D

    Cheerleading starts here :)

Sellotape, not a nice surprise :( but cleaning/treating mould counts as decluttering :T it had no business in your home & now it is gone :rotfl: Well Done on sorting the coat rack- shame about the coats but still decluttering :T

somerandom, :naughty: what makes you think sorting out personal paperwork & accounts is not decluttering :naughty: Don’t the accounts have to be posted/emailed? Your reward will be getting the accounts done :D. I will keep my fingers crossed that you also manage to do a bit of what you think of as decluttering :D. Well done on completing 2 sets of accounts :T :D & a celebratory declutter as well :rotfl:

ScarletRibbons, if you take a couple of photos before packing up & sending off that might help :D

Happy Kitties, well done :T almost at the 💯 mark :T

Wanna Bee Free, I love it - taking items with you to declutter :T I am absolutely certain that ‘the Decluttering Mojo will be with you’ when you return :D

Flugelhorn, is the box cowering in the corner :rotfl: trying to hide from you as it doesn’t want to be decluttered :rotfl:

GreenQueen, I have every faith in you :D

whmf00001, :T well done - not one but two bedrooms decluttered & tidied :T I am impressed :D and you are starting on the front room :T Large cardboard boxes should be dismantled so they cannot be used as receptacles for clutter :rotfl: Then decide on a time limit & either put in recycling or ask your local CS if they would like the boxes. Doh, now why didn’t I think of that earlier :rotfl: The number of boxes I have put in recycling, I could have started my own removals firm :rotfl:

Rootle, nothing to be embarrassed about :D after all last year I disposed of 50 year old paperwork :rotfl: I love a clear mantelpiece - just wish I had a fireplace so I could have a mantelpiece :rotfl: but my house was only built 20 years ago :(

    Thanks bargainhunterss :T

Deni debt-free dreamer, well done :T really happy that the bed idea worked :D & big pat on the back re 4 bags for CS :T that is a great haul :D Now move off the landing & in a prominent place which will encourage you to take them to the cs :rotfl: Good luck 😉 for your 2nd decluttering project :D

nannywindows, I am mightily impressed that you have infected your DH with the ‘Decluttering Bug’ :rotfl: - now you just have to make sure he stays infected :rotfl: Absolutely superb work on decluttering 4lbs :T:T - that is the kind of decluttering I need to do :D

Hermia, Well Done on the digital decluttering :T & also the ‘real world’ decluttering :T

White_musk, lovely to read that you are happy with the work that has been done:D & your carpet sounds wonderful :D By the way I am trying hard to picture your contortions to kick your own bum :rotfl: You are really doing well - chomped on By the ‘Decluttering Bug’ :rotfl:

parsniphead - more clutter out :T Single socks - I think left & right have a tiff & one leaves :rotfl:

Janejamie, I wouldn’t worry too much about being on track :D. Every item you declutter is a win :D and hopefully you have loads of clothes & shoes to donate :rotfl: Reminds me my flowers need to be composted :(

chupachups4, still decluttering items & cluttering pennies :rotfl: :T

choille, Well Done on the decluttering :T especially releasing it from your home :rotfl: The trouble with a crockery set is that it is soooo heavy :D

May we all be infected with the ‘Decluttering Bug’ :rotfl:
