Evening, Wednesday night is Attic declutter night! Need to fit in a half hour declutter in the week to help with planning for the weekend. Daughter's pushchair has finally been sold, given that she is 7 I can't see her needing it anytime soon :-) can now see some carpet in the attic which is positive. Filled up a bag of clothes our daughter has grown out of. Might look to take this to our local Sure Start centre to help children less fortunate than ours. Also considering a trip to the local hospital with daughter to donate some soft toys, she has so many! Half an hour well spent this evening. Another episode to come next Wednesday..0

I have a small pile of things to go for charity, just haven't got round to taking it there yet!0

I'm definitely up for this if possible I have so much stuff I need to get rid of, plus any extra money will be used to buy a new house.
To start with I sold a old graphics card in working order for £53 on Ebay, after fees that equates to £45. I currently have 3 large boxes full of stuff which need to be rid of first, then I have a whole load of clothes as well

1. SMALL TASKS WILL BE DONE ASAP
2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I ENTERED
3. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
4. WHEN DEALING WITH CLUTTER I WILL USE ‘Daisy1571’s idea of ‘WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THIS ITEM IF IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S ?’
5. IF I WAS STARTING FROM SCRATCH, WOULD I BUY THIS?
6. BE LIKE A POSTAGE STAMP - STICK TO ONE THING UNTIL YOU GET THEREMIA but only because I have not been a good declutterer
So many old & new friends who are knuckling under & decluttering furiously :T but although I am ‘slightly’ embarrassed by my lack of decluttering I have found my reason or should that be ‘excuse’ for not knuckling under :rotfl: Drum roll please ........... I don’t want to burn out in January :rotfl: hahaha:rotfl:
Yesterday was a non day just bed made, washing up done & dinner cooked. However today has been a bit more productive :T
I have emptied the laundry basket & the last items are now in the td so I enlisted DH’s surprisingly willing assistance to Kondo his wardrobe & his four out of five drawers in the CoD :T We were quite successful in that he now has one empty wardrobe shelf :T, everything is tidy (Kondo folded) & a few items are gone :T
28 - 31 Tops to rag bag for Tip run
32 Pair of worn out trainers binned
33 Pair of unworn size 12 shoes into cs bag
34 One ‘unloved’ long sleeved top into cs bag
Odd bits & bobs
35 - 37 XMas TV mag, newspaper, beer bottle - Recycled
38 - 39 uu pen, Pair of my silk socks bidding for sainthood - Binned
So no great numbers but slow & steady, hopefully, will get us to a decluttered house
Not that any of you need my cheerleading but here goes :rotfl:
ScarletRibbons getting DH on board - well done :T & no you do NOT sound miserlyafter all we are posting on MSE Old Style Forum
DH is really on board
- I hope you have his next project ready once he has finished the photo sort :rotfl:
Beshki - you seem to have everything under control :T Does the clutter hide? or is it that more is brought in? Praise from your mumshows what a good job you are doing :T
Molillie, unfortunately I have been guilty of ‘the tidying by hiding’but by posting you have reminded me :T - so I will have another bash at the wall unit :rotfl: I am with you on the hunting for motivation (as well as the missing birth & marriage certificates
)
Welcome KathCW - it is NEVER too late to joinYou have made an excellent start & the fact that your DH is on board will make the whole decluttering journey easier
whmf, hope the soup maker survivesI have minimal work surfaces & full cupboards so no space for a soup maker, so saucepan for me with a hand held blender to zizz out the lumps :rotfl:
Daisy1571, what a lovely post :T
Ginmonster, well done on 2 bags to cs :T & good luck with the ‘dining room of Doom’You really are on a roll Ginmonster :T - so gratifying when the ‘decluttering Mojo’ sticks around for a while
. Now don’t you go giving yourself a hernia Ginmonster
You really are on a roll & knowing the people who are receiving items does put a big smile on your face :T
marionmgcars, well done on all the decluttering so far :T Organised kitchen drawers are such a treatA huge well done on sorting out the paperwork :T & the satisfaction in being able to burn it - I am jealous although I do like shredding :rotfl: Shame about your local cs - obviously a number of declutterers who don’t post here :rotfl:
CAFCGirl, sounds like a large cs bag - well done :T & space in the bookcase :T now don’t you go filling it up :rotfl: Decluttering & saving oodles of money as well :T
GreenQueen, I hope you have given yourself a big pat on the back :T
monks, well done on the numbers :T & yes a leaking radiator definitely counts even if it was replaced
gilly1964, you ‘know’ you can keep up the good work :T - soto even countenance the idea that you wouldn’t continue to do well! You could sign your posts like I do - e.g. gilly - 70/2019 or gilly - 70/365
Onebrokelady - that was a productive day :T & a 2nd productive day :T
retiredinfrance - now that WAS ‘hidden clutter’ - well done :T
bt_dt, ah how sweetGreat Numbers :T & I did :rotfl: at the mention of chicken fillets
+ more out - keep up the good work :T
Ladykernow, stuff moving out :T keep up the good workThink of how happy you will be when the cs stuff is delivered - space in your home & a warm glow
Tfoz, I had to laugh at the hair clipper tale :rotfl: Mad half hours can be surprisingly productive :T
bargainhunterss, a ‘list lover’ - there are lots of us about :rotfl: & I had to smile that you couldn’t remember exactly what was gone- RIP Clutter
Cheapskate, personally I think you started in the right place - ood meds can be ineffective at best & dangerous at worst. My difficulty with the Kondo method of decluttering is that it creates such a mess initially when you gather all the like with like- I like to deal with my clutter in very small bites :rotfl:
bit by bit, good luck with your mini projecthaving a nice restful, clean & tidy area is so uplifting
- oh poopie, you have reminded me of more decluttering
- I do try to declutter the electronic clutter but I get bored
& you are about to despatch a piece of furniture :T
Cherryfudge, there is no such thing as ‘only 6 items decluttered’every single item out is a decluttering win :T & more decluttering wins :T
:hello: battenberg & welcome out of lurkdom :T I often think a plan of action is half the decluttering job & writing it down for all your fellow declutterers to see will prove to be a big help- remember that we are all willing you to succeed
:hello: never too old & welcome - I think we have a new carriage to add to the ‘decluttering Bandwagon’ :T - What a great idea of ‘one item a day’ automatically into the cs bag/box :T I still have a few cuddly toys but no excuse as no kids or grandchildren :rotfl: but they are in one place as a little group/family :rotfl: Well done on the freezer audit - not only can you plan a menu but you save money as well :T
nannywindows & sweetpea, well done on all the decluttering - it is quite hard to catch this ‘bug’ BUT once you have caught it once it will keep coming back - a bit like glandular fever :rotfl:
sweetpea, the bug is staying with you :T
parsniphead, hope the op went well & that you recover quickly
DD265, think of how satisfying it will be to clear all the piles at the weekendInstant space :rotfl: You do know you are allowed to keep some sentimental items & should you have a little girl the dress & shoes might be useful - would bring back happy memories & when outgrown might be easier to pass on
:hello: Cranky40 & welcome to the ‘Declutter Bandwagon’Re sale money is that for you or HT ? I know it is his stuff but you are doing all the work to get rid
Rhubarb crumble - my favourite with loads of custard
pixielottie, well done on so much decluttering & creating so much space :T Empty shelves are such a joyful sight
:hello: AppleCrumble44 & mam - welcome aboardTwo big bags to cs - well done :T & good luck with the selling
Wanna Bee Free, a joy sparking jewellery box- I actually have one of those - I love looking at it & it’s contents
:hello: Hermia, you are more than welcome to join usthe more the merrier :T & already helping out your fellow declutterers with a great idea for earring storage :T Well done on the sales & think how happy you will be after your trip to the Post Office :rotfl:
selloptape, hope you found the shredder :rotfl:
oceanspirit, I hope you didn’t go out topless :rotfl:
edwink, thank you for such a lovely story - it warmed the cockles for my heart
chocolatelover93, you have been busy :T - I was surprised at how much space the Kondo folding technique creates - isn’t it nice how easy it is to find exactly what you want
short_bird, I hope you are going to treat yourself with the profits from your sales
leelad, what a great start to your attic decluttering & what a wonderful use of outgrown children’s clothing. Also lovely that your daughter is joining you on the decluttering bandwagon :T
:hello: & welcome A Random Man - I love the nameAre your profits destined for something specific? Curious minds want to know or perhaps just a nosy c*w :rotfl:
Yippee - I have finished :T

Thanks for all the good wishes. You're all lovely.
Well it's official, I'm a carp declutterer . I had the first bit of keyhole exploratory surgery then it stopped. I need more chemo to get rid of the small cancers all over the abdomen before they can do the big op.
Total decluttered for yesterday....a big fat zero.

Me too! I like nice comments from Mrs SD. It's great being told you're doing well. We should all do it more shouldn't we? Thanks Mrs SD - you're keeping us all going. 😀0 -
It’s lovely to read a thread so encouraging..
A little slow on the decluttering front, mainly the usual recycling and the odd thing here and there..
Did declutter a small apple crumble into the garden in a huff as my oven had a malfunction and it cremated it.. Having to air house as it smells a tad burnt!
My neighbours think I’ve lost the plot, they saw the back door open and the crumble come flying out into the garden (along with a few swears:eek:).. :rotfl:"There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇0 -
Lovely to hear from you parsniphead.
I hope they let you home soon but don't overdo it when you get there. Maybe one surface or drawer a day, no heavy lifting?
