Oooh, I need to join this. I decluttered a lot last year. If I stay on track I should be able to finish decluttering in 2019. By the end of this year, I want to only own items that I use or love and I want everything to have a place. My dream is being able to lay my hands on whatever I need without having to run around like a headless chicken first!0

I got a pretty little box for christmas which I'm thinking about putting the bigger ones in (I have a bit of a thing for perspex earrings at the moment). But the more delicate or the studs I'm just not sure what to do with
I store mine in ice cube trays. The top door of my dresser is very shallow so a couple of ice cube trays perfectly fit in there. What I like about it is that each pair of earrings can have their own cube in the tray so I don't have to hunt for pairs.0 -
Good luck for today parsniphead.
Yesterday I tackled sideboard of doom contents. This was full of paperwork so I now have some files stored and some in piles for shredding. Sideboard cupboard doors are broken so this is being tipped in a couple of weeks.
Now have to find the shredder :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Dh is going through photos, and chucking out like a good'un.
He thought he'd been through all the old packs of photos, and had weeded out the rubbish, then he found more! There were wedding photos of friends from years and years ago, people that we haven't seen for years. Our family don't know them and would not keep photos of them if we popped off, so he got rid.
It's a good mantra that - what would the family do with this or that if they were going through your things.0 -
Thinking of you today parsniphead.
Put on a really pretty top yesterday and realised straightaway why I've not worn it for ages - it slips off my shoulders. In CS bag for someone with wider shoulders to enjoy!Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅0 -
Hope it all goes well today Parsniphead.
I've got another couple of bags to hoick to the charity shop today. This time it's books so I might have to check how heavy the bags are and adjust accordingly. I'm just summoning up the energy to go and do it as I went for a run this morning with someone who's fitter than me and that made me push myself so I'm feeling like I just want to sit and drink tea for the rest of the day! Mmmmm...tea...0 -
typed a long post and lost it !!!
basically got the shoe cupboard sorted out and got rid of 2 bags of outdoor shoes. Have house to myself so can hopefully get another bag sorted.0 -
I have decluttered several small bags of rhubarb from the freezer and turned them into rhubarb crumble. I am now going to sort out all of my knitting patterns - I've bought a lever arch file and some punched pockets. Any patterns that I'm never going to make again can go.0

Had a to have a slight giggle when I read your post because when we had to sort through my dear mums house we came across 4 ornate glass jelly moulds. We were so surprised because my mum absolutely hated jelly, she couldn't stand the stuff. We did have a good chuckle I remember at the time when we came across them stacked neatly in one of her kitchen cupboards.
Anyway, in the end all four of us decided to keep one each in memory of her just for the sake of it because none of us care much for jelly either. :rotfl: Bless her.

Hello everyone!
Leelad - sorry to hear about your DW mental health issuessending hugs.
Parsniphead - Hope op went well
Sorry I've not been on for a while. I have been doing lots of decluttering!! I have kinda lost count though of what I have got rid of
Since last posting I have decluttered most of my bedroom drawers, DS wardrobe, airing cupboard and another kitchen cupboard. I have a bag full for the CS and lots of things to sell. I have decided with the things I am selling that I am going to give them a month on FB and if they don't sell they can go to CS too. Luckily my loft is a walk in so I can leave them in there. I will sort them into bags and once the month is up take that bag to the CS
My drawers look so much tidier and neater since folding my clothes the way Marie Kondo does, plus I can see everything and I seem to have more space!! It's the same with my sons clothes too! It looks so much nicer now that everything has its place and not just thrown in the drawers.
Does anyone have any tips or ideas for old baby cards etc?
I have a box full of my DS cards and I have a scrap book I am making him with lots of photos and other bits in there, was just wondering if anyone has any ideas for the cards? I would rather all things like that were in a book he could look through when he is older. I am also thinking of getting a box frame so I can put his first sleepsuit and things in for him that I can hang up in my living room that way they aren't gathering dust in a box.
