The last mince pie decluttered today
. I've put the cs bag out ready for collection tomorrow, the contents included 7 fiction books and all read, 2 cookery books ( vegan & gluten free and American style cooking - looked at but never used
), a booster seat and a large file/laptop bag no longer needed as DH has retired ( only 6 years ago
). Also managed to jam in a pair of slippers and 2 sets of curtain tie backs which were brand new and still packaged, the latter probably been in a drawer for 10 yrs . I threw out 4 T.shirts and 6 Tea towels, well DH has grabbed them for rags and taken them up his shed/workshop. So although they are still around they are no longer in the house :j.
I did start to look for a pair of gold shoes that I wore to my DD's wedding ( only wore them that once ) to send to the cs, but I can't find them because of the " stuff " in the bottom of the wardrobe, so that's got to be sorted too.
This afternoon I have used a vacuum sealer on the summer fruit from the freezer and can now discard the plastic takeaway containers into the recycling box.
There is now an empty black bag in the office ready to start again. :j
I'm on a roll, I think I've got the decluttering bug :rotfl:Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -

That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy0 -
Good luck tomorrow parsniphead x
I am jealous of those of you who've been able to nip to the charity shop or tip. At the minute I'm building up piles but can't sneak away from work to drop them off - this weekend is going to be very satisfying then.
I scanned all the paperwork last night; just need to shred it now but the cats are snoozing and I'd prefer them to stay that way than be clambering all over my desk so I'll do it this evening.0 -
Hello all,
I'd like to join please to keep up the momentum. When we moved to this house (4.5 years ago) I decluttered so much "stuff" from our 5 storey house so that we (myself and son now aged 14) would fit into our 3 bed mid terrace. We still filled the new house.
Recently the HT (house troll - son who used to be a house elf but then the teens happened...) agree to let me sell on the bay of E a lot of his gaming figures and that is still a work in progress but I need to keep on top of things. The spare room is full of bags of clothes that he has outgrown which I need to either sell or charity shop. I would like to commit initially to relocate one item per week. As I relocated (sold) 6 bits of plastic [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] treasure this morning I reckon I'm off to a good start.
When I was widowed (9 years ago) going through my late husband's possessions and getting rid of same was horrible. It's always in the back of my mind now that the less stuff that I have the less there will be for someone to go through if anything happens to me.0 -
Skimming like mad and unable to appreciate as many of the good ideas as I'd like to (sorry). And there are so many good ideas.
Another 10 items gone today - just bits from the fridge, paper, jars - total for the year to date is 77.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)
