Friday is turning out to be a glorious summer’s day. Started off dry but dull (7:15 a.m.) but now it is clear blue skies, brilliant hot sunshine & a really nice cooling breeze :T DH & I were up & at ‘em by 7:30 a.m. UNHEARD of for us but the patio work was due to be started @ 8:00 a.m. Although they did arrive at 7:15 ;) (a pick up, a car & a van ) & sat outside until we popped out at 7:45. Our neighbour gave us permission to use his side access which has proved to be a major boon. 4 workers & the boss (who did pitch in :D) The concrete base (I use the term loosely :rotfl:) was dug up & taken away, new ballast has been laid, the black brick edging has been concreted in & a step from the back door is being built. We are also getting the front step & path redone so that has also been dug up & the turf & slabs taken away. There seemed to be a lot of sitting around ;) & the small garden table that DH built came in useful for when they had their brunch :rotfl: Everyone left by 2 p.m. - rather earlier than we thought but hey ho. There is a rather large drop to the ground from our front door, so the step that DH made for the window cleaner to climb over the side fence has been pressed into service as a temporary front door step. They are back tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. - another early one for us :(
DH has been tidying up in the garage (got rid of a few bits) & is on his next project - a small flat iron - another memento from France plus he is preparing a block for the corn grinder to be affixed to. I have sorted out a large box full of envelopes & wrapping paper etc. Most of the wrapping paper has been taken off its cardboard rolls & folded & packed into a box file. The envelopes have been packed into a fancy shoe box. I now only have a medium sized & empty lidded wooden box to repurpose :j I also sorted out the corner behind the dining room door. A large unopened box :o which contained a corner unit (which DH couldn’t fit in DSis’s room/nest :rotfl:) now on the shelf above the garage door. Also found 4 umbrellas  - keeping 2 & donating 2, a long handled duster relocated to under stairs cupboard (which is still tidy :p) & 2 bathroom scales - we will keep the spring loaded one & test the digital one with a new battery. If it works, I will clean it & donate to CS. Also lurking was the ironing board which has been relocated to the spare room & the new, used once, iron will be taken up as well :rotfl: together with a spare ironing board cover. Now that corner is neat & tidy & only contains packaging material, 3 small boxes, ‘bags for life’ stash & the extra sturdy Spanish bags which I use to ferry donations to the CS.
Dinner tonight will be mash, sausages, bacon, mushrooms, hg tomatoes & baked beans - yummy 🤤

2960 - 2987 Five drinks cans, plastic jar & lid, glass bottle & metal lid, 2 lots of cardboard packaging, 3 cardboard boxes, 4 plastic bottles, 2 plastic lids, paper packaging, plastic tray, food can, 4 cardboard inner rolls, magazine, newspaper, 0.5” paperwork - Recycled
2988 - 2994 Bag of kitchen detritus, torn plastic bag, paint brush, paint scraper, bag of workmen’s lunch detritus, painted cardboard, broken wooden handle - Binned

Battery low so will come back later for cheerleading :rotfl:

    Happy decluttering everyone :D

The weekend is here again and much cooler than last week so hoping to get a lot of clutter sorted. The plan is to clear my remaining 2 bedrooms of everything so they can be plastered and have new hardwood floors laid before decorating.

I have a family friend and her husband coming over in a couple of weeks time to collect everything I don't want, she will take everything, except for obvious rubbish, and will sell in aid of charity or pass on to a charity or other organisation that can make use of the item. Nothing goes to waste if she can possibly help it. This makes me feel better as I hate things going into landfill.

I started today by decluttering my emails. I thought I was organised by transferring them into different folders but that only works if you cull them regularly which I don't  I didn't count how many I deleted but it must be a few thousand as some of the folders had in excess of 500 emails, one even exceeded 800 :( I have promised myself to be more selective about what I keep. I still have a way to go as I kept any that I wasn't sure about and just deleted the obvious rubbish. That will be a job for another day.

I have also started to declutter my food stores. I have set up a weekly menu plan spreadsheet with an area for a shopping list. Have a lovely varied menu plan to take me to next Friday and my shopping list has a grand total of 3 items on it :j Money saving and decluttering all in one go :T:T

I will post an update after the weekend

Hope everyone has a productive weekend whether decluttering or not.
That money talks I don't deny, I heard it once, it said "Goodbye"

Before I get into cheerleading our great great niece was born 11:46 p.m. on 29th August weighing in at 8lbs 4oz. Apparently mother & baby are doing well but no pictures yet until all the close family have seen the new arrival.

    2995 - 2996 Two glass bottles & metal lids - Recycled
2997 Baby book wrapped & added to the knitted present for our new great great niece

    Now cheerleading :rotfl:

Well Done :- choille; oceanspirit; savvy; Happy Kitties - keep up the good work :T; - :T:T:T:T

Things are looking up, Cheapskate :T You must definitely stick to your guns re your DSis’s clutter. Good luck with the skip - is it a large one :rotfl: Now don’t get over exuberant when getting rid of stuff - remember you do need a bed to sleep in & a sofa to sit on :rotfl::rotfl:

What a bonus whmf00001 :D Don’t forget to check the batteries - they may need replacing.

Never too old, having lots of sprinkles just means you need to bake lots of fairy cakes :rotfl:

Excellent work nannywindow :T You have been very busy & very successful :T you have every right to feel proud of yourself & it merits a Gold Star ⭐️

Are you sure it won’t just be the bedrooms getting plastered :rotfl: only joking 🙃 You are very lucky to have such a good friend & I admire your determination to keep items out of landfill :T I wish you every success in your decluttering this weekend :D

    Happy decluttering everyone :D

Wow, 2 gold stars Mrs SD. Thankyou so much. I am honoured.:j:T:j:T I will take your sagely advice re the rope to guide me out.

Nothing has gone today apart from a big box of recycling. Last night I bagged up the quilts and matress covers I am keepng to go in the loft over the weekend and I emptied another box.

Tonight is a rest night as I went to reading group. I did have some good news today.however. I was telling someone at work about my Room of Doom. She said a friend of her MiL sets up flats for women coming out of abusive relationships. This lady is always on the hunt for stuff like bedding, kitchen stuff and furniture. I think I can help her with some of that :D so I have passed on my number and wait to get a text.

This year has been interesting as I have been working at the clutter clearing and talking about it to people. I have had a lot of positive reactions and suggestions for places for things to go. Everything from bras to plates. Very little has gone to the landfill which pleases me no end :j

Hi everyone, just popping round as I have not been here for ages, My laptop died and I tried life without one, and although still just using the phone at present I am going to get a replacement so I can type with a proper keyboard. Decluttering goes on very slowly so being able to post comfortably will make me more accountable. Have a good week everyone

I use a buetooth keyboard with both my phone and tablet. The most difficult thing is propping the phone up so that I can read what I type
