Thank you for welcome TamsinC :)

Yes totally agree with you. Cant look at past regrets and make them right..whilst they hang around its just a reminder.

Had a real feel good moment last week when a teaching assistant friend told me how much one of her students with special needs enjoyed a game i donated.( I could never get my special needs son to engage with it and every time i saw it i was reminded of that.)

    Anyhow off the starting blocks:

    1. weeded 50 items of paperwork out of a random box of paperwork in garage (recycled)

Hope you all had a productive/relaxing bank holiday.
    Welcome to the newbies :T

Dd is now 5 days overdue and she is very fed up.Not much has left the house since they moved out so still have boxes and clothes everywhere... Started to write lists and tick off what i have completed which so far has been quite good for me and encourages me to get on with things to get them ticked off my list.

Done some shredding this morning so a few bits gone :):)

    Welcome Picklepot and TamsinC.

Picklepot; I too have been bogged down with what I have for 30 plus years, thinking I will use, sell or repurpose thousands of items. I also barriered myself by trying to make it all useful to someone. I am succeeding in this to a degree but only by telling people I am getting rid of stuff. All the best with your plans.:)

I don't have the time or energy for counting individual items so I am counting bags, be it carrier or big bin liners. I am down to small amounts of clutter around the house and only one room which could only belong to a hoarder to go. This is a huge achievment for me.:T

TamsinC. You are so right. Marathon not sprint. I am trying to reserve energy levels so trying to fill 1 bag or sort one thing a day.

Since returning from hols on Sunday I have sorted a box of stuff given for the CS where I work at and 1 bag of clothes. I have cleared out three small bedside drawers too.

    Deal All

I feel overwhelmed by my clutter!
Please can i join?. I need to start being accountable to myself.
I have made great inroads in the past, but its all very stop/start and i need to get into a momentum so that eventually my house is streamlined and i can just do maintenance. I read endless blogs, books etc on clutter clearing but its the putting into practice long term thats hard.(plus the amount of time reading about it further delays my progress:eek:! )I have realised my problem area along with momentum is getting the stuff out of the house. I delay with ideas of car booting/ebaying/selling etc . Since i ve never done any of these:rotfl: i plan to donate everything even though i shudder with the money lost.

Ive had a big life event happen a while ago.. which im eventually now accepting and need to move on (too many bad memories in the clutter items)
I dont know whether counting will work for me but would like to regularly post my achievements however small. I have a fabulous DH who has pointed out the possibilities for when we move the junk (although its mine!) such as a little area in our home could be a reading snug and that has given me something to work towards
Hope it will be ok to join :)

I was the same picklepot.. I had big plans to sell stuff but it just stayed so off to the charity shop it went. I had a letter recently to tell me my donations had raised over £40 thus far so I'm more than happy.

The only thing I decluttered today was a load of money.:( Fingers crossed tomorrow will be better.:(

    Keep going all.
