Well, as I was stuck at home because the car's in the garage, and it's been pouring down, I've finally got my arris in gear today! :rotfl:
Sorted 25 items of clothing and 1 book for the CS, and 1 bin bag of rubbish - just from a swift pass over the kids' room! Also ironed a load of tea towels and some of DH's shirts. Got the biggest pile EVER of socks.gloves/woollies to sort through, suspect at least half of it will end up in the CS bag. We've not bought new clothes for a long time, so a lot of our stuff has had it, especially the littlies', so I think I'll have to bite the bullet and have a mini spending spree early next week!

Got some chicken and assorted veg to de-clutter into a casserole for tea, then a bit more in the kids' room afterwards - I might be able to see carpet by the time they go to bed!!

Yesterday was fantastic. I did so much cleaning and decluttering. Washing, puting stuff away, cleaning carpet stains, pjpes and skirting in the bathroom, endless recycling and bins emptied. I even cleaned the car inside and out. Being back at work has made me more organised and careful with my time.
One issue I have is with dust. When I wipe surfaces I get lumps of soggy dust. I thinks it's finally sunk in I have to vacuum and dust regularly. It will be easier with less stuff to move. I think I may make myself a housework organiser/chart. If only vacuuming was enjoyable.;) It's my pet hate.
Dust is also my pet hate. I have been hoovering my skirting boards today and polishing the surfaces.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

Do you fancy doing mine.;):rotfl: No, never mind.
Just waiting to escape from hospital. I can't wait to get home. I also can't wait to get started again with the decluttering in the next few days.

Take it easy parsniphead, you don't want to overdo things after surgery. Get your family decluttering instead... it'll keep them busy and make you feel better0

Things that have just jumped into my mind - I'll de-clutter them here :rotfl:; many years ago - possibly 30 - my godmother bought a vacuum cleaner that was to have been built into the house somehow and it ran a vacuum, dusting thingy, drill - all sorts of things, never saw it again. I had a neighbour as a young newly wed (me not her) who asked me how often I cleaned the paintwork - I looked at her in amazement. She - and her long suffering husband agreed - used to take up her carpets once a month and clean the floor underneath . She washed her walls down, washed her curtains etc., about as often. Luckily someone put me right and explained that I shouldn't expect to do it myself
. I remember her husband died quite young - can't think why. I went to her house once and they had big old style furniture which he must've had to move for her.
We went to the opticians today and decluttered a lot of money from the bank for new glasses. Must remember to take any old ones when we go to pick them up.
Have a good bank holiday weekend all.

Just dropping in to report a load of cardboard has gone into recycling and I have just given a book away. The thread has moved on massively since I last dropped by.
I am away over the weekend but hope to transport some books to my DB as he and I share a love of fantasy and sci fi.
In answer to your question three pages back Mrs SD, yes, I have a specific spot for this reclutter but it is never going to be kept for long. As soon as they say they are taking whatever season they are collecting for it will be going back. You are right though. Absolutely agree with your thoughts, it will be easier with less stuff to move. I love the idea of a minimalist home, it's not possible with my brood still around, but when they eventually fly the nest at least they will take a whole load of clutter with them (if not it will be binned).
I binned/recycled 2 boxfuls from the pantry during the week and will restart on the dining room today. Someone on here suggested setting a timer for decluttering tasks so I'm going to try that and give myself plenty of tea breaks!
Have a good extra long weekend everyone.MFW 2021 No: 33 £45000/£45000 Mortgage free @ 11/6/21 🥳0
