Afternoon all
i spent my time before work sorting out a big corner cupboard in my kitchen.Cupboard is now empty and hopefully at least one of the items in it will be collected this afternoon (1 down 2 more to go)
Everything else is messing up my kitchen but i will sort a few bits out when i get home from work.I do hope no one else goes home before me :rotfl:
This cupboard will now be for the electrical items i do use on a regular basis so should free up other cupboard space that i can then organise.Few more bits have been added to the charity bag so that will be dropped off to them tomorrow.
Even though i still have a long way to go my efforts in having a place for everything is starting to work. DD wanted sticky tape and scissors and knew exactly where to go:TMAKE £2022 in 2022 no 29 £2022/£434.10

Hello all
It is lovely to see all the help and encouragement on this thread :A.
We have made another tip trip today, but I had to encourage........ er put my foot down with DH before hand, because the packaging ready for the tip seems to have been reproducing in the shed and it was like an avalanche every time I opened the door :rotfl:. There is now only a pile of wood to go . ( for now)
I put a small piece of unwanted carpet in the bin and I found a music box given to me by my late Mum that I never use, which is now in the cs pile. I only kept it for sentimental value as DH bought me another, larger one which takes all my jewellery :j. I hope someone else can get some pleasure and use out of it.
I also rehomed a package to DD's house and I let her dog out to declutter himself of a few " pennies " in the garden.
MrsSD enjoy your time away.
Hugs are on the way to anyone who is struggling, feeling poorly or just plain fed up.
Please keep on decluttering everyone, even baby steps are ok if they are going in the right direction.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Roxie - re the sentimental stuff, I've never regretted getting rid of stuff , even my darling husbands things. I kept only an item or 2 of jewellery, I have photos and most importantly my memories, I don't need masses of items that probably didn't mean that much anyway. I'm sure they wouldn't want us to be bogged down with stuff. Photograph things if you think it will help but realistically you can't be expected to keep everything. It's hard but keep your head up, and be kind to yourself.
Good luck.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -

I'll end up putting it straight into the next charity that does a round :rotfl:I'm still counting it as clutter gone as I've divorced myself from it

Well no decluttering today, still sulking from falling over twice last week, panicking about the camp this weekend and taken delivery of my new roof box and bars that is taller than youngest son who is 6'! So housing that in the hallway as I can't open it and housing the huge box in the dog den in case I've bought a too big one:(

Thursday promised rain - the garden needs itbut no rain just some sunshine & very windy. DH met old colleagues for lunchtime drinks & ended up coming home worse for wear 8 hours later
I made him fish finger sandwiches & now he has gone to bed
No ‘Under Stairs Cupboard of Doom’
however I did empty, clean & sort the rest of the kitchen drawers - a lot neater & better organised
Plus it really didn’t take as long as I thought it would :rotfl: Surprising how often I can make a mountain out of a molehill
you would have thought I would have learned by now
. Basically a lazy day all round

Roxie, I fully agree with Daisy - keep plugging away & with any luck other family members will join in spontaneously. One little tip I would offer is that when your dining room is decluttered, advise your family that anything they ‘dump’ in there will be binned :rotfl: Sounds harsh, but it will protect your sanity :rotfl: Your family will realise you are serious about decluttering & it might give them a not so gentle nudge to be tidier. You have made an excellent start with the storage boxes & the back door tidy :T
Excellent advice Daisy :T
whmf00001, it is always the emotional stuff that is the hardest to declutter. Please know that you are not alone and I am sending you encouraging vibes
Well Done nannywindow :T sounds like you have been busyKeeping DH busy as well - I fully approve :rotfl:
Well Done greenbee :T Think how much space you will have when you have the CS pile collected or you deliver to CS
Well Done Happy Kitties & Barny1979 :T

Neither my hubby or I speak Japanese. It was a trip on both of our bucket lists.
Yes, we rode the bullet train three times. It was brilliant. We went 250mph from Kyoto to Hiroshima.
Everywhere in Japan is so clean. No graffiti, no rubbish on the floor/ pavement. They clear their clutter.

Lovely summery day on Tuesday - lovely walk to the CS. Saw mummy Egyptian Goose tending her gosling with daddy looking on - very cuteLots of swans, Canada Geese, Greylag Geese & the coot nest is getting higher  - never seen a skyscraper nest before :rotfl: Dropped off 2 more bags at CS - a new lady, Pamela, was most pleased with the large supply of carrier bags :rotfl: & fascinated by the Squirrel Hotel
Very nice friendly lady. Quick pop in to sm for sausages & milk for DSis then treated myself to a pint as it was sunny :rotfl: DH & DSis appear to have done sweet *anny *dams
I only have 2 more bags to go to CS then I will have to start hunting for more donations

Oh Roxie - Sorry you are not getting family support in your declutteringSome excellent advice from Siebrie :T It is a case of plugging away & once an area has been decluttered keeping it clutter free. Easier said than done sometimes but advise your family that any of their clutter that encroaches on a cleared are will be put in a box & if not sorted within a week will be binned
Harsh but necessary if none of them can see how unhappy the clutter is making you. Please, please come on here to vent if things are not going well :rotfl: someone will be able to lift your spirits
. The more you do, the easier it gets - but as Siebrie suggested bite sized chunks :rotfl:
Well Done - somerandom; whmf00001; Wednesday2000; phoebe1989seb; never too old - What a marvellous result :T being able to find something without having to search for hours :T; Barny1979; Gem-gem it must have been such a shock when you returned home - dirty streets, litter & graffitibut you have seen what can be done
Excellent work on the decluttering & good luck at the boot fair - hope you sell loads
- Well Done all of you :T :T :T
Oh savvy
See you tomorrow my fellow declutterers

Apologies nannywindow - Well Done on putting your foot down with a firm hand :rotfl: You are so right - baby steps in the right direction
- we will all get there & then we can relax slightly but still stay vigilant & never let clutter get a foothold in our homes again
Excellent advice wort :T we do all need to be kind to ourselvesAfter all the clutter crept up on us over long periods of time, and will take a long time to clear
but we will all get there

A lurker checking in for some advice- has anyone had any success with these baby and children table top sales you see advertised? I have boxed up all my little ones bits, bar a few bags that I've rehomed to other friends expecting. I was going to do a car boot when the weather gets better, but not sure whether to do a table top sale sooner. I went to one as a buyer and didn't get most of what I wanted, but not sure how good they are as a seller?Make £2025 in 2025- £751.88/£2025
