Rather late to the party but may I join you please?

I think it home that I need to start seriously decluttering when I went into the attic ( insert Shed On The Roof/Room Of Doom depending on my mood!!) and found a curtain pole complete with ends, hook backs and supports to put it up...... I needed new window dressing for DS room and was contemplating buying new curtains with eyelets which would've needed a pole but instead I've used a pair of curtains from my room which are not used and suit the room perfectly...DS was well happy.

So money saved there by using what I had and obviously a wake up call for me ....
The attic gives me palpitations ...every time I go up there with the intention of sorting/decluttering I get overwhelmed and walk back down ....but not today..... I thought start small just 15 mins each day even if it's tidying one item away .....

I don't think I'll set a target other than trying to do some thing each day and then just putting a number as a foot note as a record .....

So today I binned a wall poster thing ....shocking in know but it's broken and can't go to the CS only for some one else to do it ....

A clock, decorative sign, 3 door decorative door hangers, a poster and 4 small plastic kinder egg toys have been put in the CS bag.

A pair of old curtains have been bagged to go to H&M where I should get a £5 voucher ....they can't be used anymore as the header tape is ripped and they have faded in the sun so onky good for recycling which is what H&M said they do with them......so hopefully win win where I get a voucher and no landfill ...well only the hologram poster thing...

So today's count is 12 not bad for 15 mins work ...I don't suppose eating the cake is decluttering ...is it

  • Well, crashed car emptied and several items - sat nav, bluetooth thingy, cig lighter usb thingy, heated seat cover all given to lad next door for helping. Car now been collected by auction site. New car now collected so will carefullt decide what to put back into it, small umbrella, de-icer thing etc etc and trolley coins. Cut a large milk bottle down yesterday and put some seeds in and some in old plant pot, then rushed out to put large see-through plastic box over when cloudburst/thunder/lightening. I already decant large bottles into small bottles and try to re-use big ones for dry goods. B'day and Mothering Sunday cards now in re-cycling and all old car paperwork sorted and filed. Lovely to see you back Mrssd.

Oh well, if you don't know where he lives, tell his sister that if she wants any of her dad's stuff she can either a. let you know where he lives so you can dump it there or b. let you dump it at hers so she can sort it. Otherwise it will be going into a skip at the end of April (and no, she can't come to yours to sort through it, that will just make more mess). Just copy and paste this into a message :) Don't bother putting any effort into it! Research skip sizes and prices.
:rotfl::rotfl:Why thank you greenbee ;);) I'm more than happy to drop it at hers, but will sort through the car first as I had a couple of things in there before he dumped his carp in there!!

If you've had flu, you have my sympathies. I had it and was surprised how long it took to recover from. Take it easy. Do you want me to call his sister for you?

I have continued to watch 'Renovate don't Relocate' (Really channel). Sarah Beeny regularly refers to "clutter and chaos" and rooms which are a "glorified cupboard" or a "dumping ground". Shame there is not more emphasis on decluttering and reorganising, and less on design and style.

Decluttering: Fresh but on-the-turn woodland/ chestnut mushrooms and some freezer-burned garlic souped and into my belly. A ripe pear, some F-B rhubarb and F-B orange peel poached in leftover red wine, then into my belly. Both delish. :D

One pack of fish or seafood from the freezer into my belly. Several bags of ground spices (open and stale) from the 'Hall of Shame' binned. Badly freezer-burned Guinea fowl portions binned.

Recluttering: One tub of YS ricotta cheese into the freezer. TY Greenbee!

Found yet more jars of curry and tomato sauce whilst hunting for spices: now in the way on the kitchen worktop. Clippits from the bags of spices into an overflowing kitchen drawer.

No idea why there is a crate with random food items in the 'Hall of Shame' but a crate with cat toys in the kitchen! :o There are also some canned foods and soft drinks in the 'Tardis of Doom' (heavy and bulky so ordered online). Writing this post has made me realise I need to have yet another crack at reorganising and decluttering the kitchen. :(

    Welcome Dollypeeps. :hello:

Sounds as if you won't need to spend much on food for a while Fire Fox!

I've just put in a online order for Saturday morning (I'm away from work for a few days so won't have time to shop), taking into account that I have surgery on my mouth on Tuesday so will be living on soup and ice cream for a few weeks!

Not much done but at least some had been cleared from the house.

    354-355 paperwork shredded.

Well done for everyone's effort. Even a small amount leaving the house is a bit more space in your hone.
