    Good afternoon all

Went to the tip this morning to get rid of old bedding and old paint:j
Have tried other routes to dispose of these items but couldn't find anyone that wanted rags so bit disappointing that it will now end up in landfill.
    :(
I am trying but this has taught me not to buy so much in the first place.I now have only 2 sets of bedding for each bed .Need to concentrate on food waste as i have a full caddy every week which seems really bad to me.

    Hello
Today we finally got the old TV to the tip :j. Now there's only the packaging to go..... never seen so much polystyrene for one item, it's going to fill the car !!. As it's bin/recycling day tomorrow the cardboard will now be cut up and recycled and also I've binned the old TV remote, an old bicycle pump ( can't remember the last time there was a bike here ) and a plastic baby cup, used when babysitting the Gnephew who is nearly 17 . DH has binned a set of headphones which no longer work too ........ he's getting the hang of decluttering at last :T.
Hope everyone is well and keep up the good work.
    nan xx

  • Hi Everyone, I am just checking in because I need some motivation and haven't posted for a few weeks. I have done a small amount of decluttering, it was mainly a couple of bin bags of items out of my garden but it already looks so much better.
I have arranged with a friend to rent a van and take her old sofa to the dump and I will take some of the stuff in our garage (we have an old mattress there for a start), so it is decluttering for both of us and will save money.
I have a small bag of charity shop items, will take it towards the end of the week when I have sorted through some more items.
I sold an item on facebook for £20 and had enquiries about another.
Suppose it isn't so bad when I write it down like this!
Happy decluttering everyone, time for a spring clean here.

Stayed dry most of the day but was very cold again - so had to retrieve my motorbike thermal top : ( DH did a Tip run - large bag of ‘stuff’ already listed & emptied the metal tool box of all the metal bits - again already listed. When he got back DH & I completely cleared the garage floor so DSis was able to sweep then vacuum the whole floor. DH & I then went through all the wood stored in the garage. DH was brutal so we now only have decent pieces of wood which have been neatly stored for future projects. We also put a few more bulky items in the storage area above the garage door. The bench for the chest tool box has been strengthened. The tool box has been emptied, cleaned inside & out & is now in its final location. DH has already decided it will be used only for motorcycle bits & pieces. DH will be doing another Tip run tomorrow
Hm soup for lunch & DH made cheesey pasta for dinner - yummy.

923 - 930 Eight planks/lengths of wood returned to neighbours skip as surplus to requirements
931 - 933 Glass jar & metal lid, empty beer can - Recycled
934 - 938 Bag of wood off-cuts, very large bag of wood off-cuts (counting as 3 :rotfl:), handful of metal bits - Tip

A Frayed Knot, makes me spit that ‘they’ keep moving the goalposts & throwing people’s plans up in the air.

Well Done - More pennies in the travel pot, chupachups4; shame about having to take stuff to the Tip, never too old, but another lesson learned ;) Re your food waste - hm soups may be the way to go : ) I use lo mash, lo cooked veg & lo gravy as a base, then add whatever I have in the way of wilting fresh veg, potatoes, red lentils & harissa paste & a lump of blue cheese. I do not taste until I have zizzed & then season if needed. Touch wood none of my hm soups have been inedible.

Success nannywindow :T finally getting your DH to declutter :T

    Almost at the 300 Barny1979 :T

Motivation is what we are here to provide, notmy1sttime - but I see that now you have written down what you have done, you have already started a motivational spark in yourself :D Every single item out is a win & don’t forget that spring cleaning counts as decluttering :rotfl: I should also remind you that stopping clutter entering your home also counts as decluttering :D You should give yourself a pat on the back for continuing to declutter even when your ‘Decluttering Mojo’ has gone on holiday :D

    See you all tomorrow

Morning MrsSD, thank you for awarding me a gold star which I shared with my 7 year old daughter yesterday as she keeps me motivated on the task ahead, especially on car boot sales. Also I want to take the opportunity to thank you for continuing to maintain this thread and providing support and cheerleading to all declutterers who post on this board. Its a great motivation to be able to post on here what your achievements have been, even though they may be small. Best wishes :-)

Well done, that's really grabbing the moment and making it work for you! If you're like me, it's a case of making the most of the inspiration and energy when it strikes.

Thanks for the inspiration. I cut a tree down three years ago and it was dumped at the bottom of the garden. The green waste collection starts again this month so I'm going to start filling it with tree as well as weeds.

I've been missing for a few days. I'm pleased to announce that the toy mountain in my bedroom is sorted. It been 10 bags to the charity shop, two bins full of broken stuff and also some stuff on the tip pile. My goodness I thought it was never going to come to an end.

I now HAVE to focus on the front room.:eek:

Another bit of good news. After putting it off for ages I sorted my undies draw. It looks lovely, only contains undies AND i found a book voucher for £30 which has been missing for over a year. :j:):D

I'm off to get some paint for my sitting room this morning. Since starting the big clear out my house renovations mojo is coming back. I'm feeling very positive.

Anyway I must get on. I'm back at work after easter (phased return) so will have les time to focus on decluttering.

    Have a fab day all.

So glad the clearout has made you feel positive Parsniphead! Hopefully you can keep your bedroom looking nice as a bit of a sanctuary while you tackle the front room.

I'd put off clearing the kids' room (reserved for my niece and nephew) which has been out of action for over a year (since the builders were last here for major work) with junk in it. But they were visiting on Sunday, so I finally bit the bullet and managed to sort it all out in a couple of hours. I still have some furniture to sort out, but they can get in there, find their toys, use the rocking horse and the bed is made up. It looks a LOT nicer. As a result I also cleared the dining room table for the first time in months, so overall the house is looking pretty good. Even if the kitchen is still full of boxes!

Thank you leelad, what a lovely post - brightened up my day considerably as it is wet & cold in my neck of the woods :( Your daughter sounds like a remarkable young lady so I am awarding her, her own Gold Star ⭐️ How is your wife’s new job? I hope she is enjoying it. Re the car boot sales, perhaps every 2/3 weeks. As to the £10 fee, perhaps a little pot & put in 50p a day - it will seem less ‘painful’ when paying for your pitch :)

As leelad’s post has made me feel so perky : ), I am awarding a few more Gold Stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ - one each for parsniphead, greenbee, GreenQueen & Barny1979 - for inspiring us all in different ways.

Today DH might do a Tip run & then we will continue working in the garage but I do need to make a visit to the P.O. & a small sm shop at some point.

    See everyone later
