Mrs Salad Dodger without you there are :whistle:no wheels on our decluttering bandwagon.

Definitely not being like a postage stamp. :o Every task seems to be dependant on another task.

Yesterday I bought four celery hearts (yellow sticker 24p!) and the outer sticks need to be prepped for the freezer, as well as the carrots bought last week. But the freezer needs relocating and defrosting ...

Abandoned tackling the heater. Furniture is all over the place. Kitchen is unusable. Freezer is still defrosting. Laundry pile has doubled. Cat is mardy because she hates change. :rotfl:

I have not reported in - or done any proper decluttering - all week. Only just keeping on top of the basic kitchen cleaning, I have not vacuumed anywhere, not done any laundry nor even washed my greasy hair. :o Very bloated most days. :(

Decluttering: Outer sticks of the celery, the larger carrots and a pack of organic leeks prepped, packed and into the newly defrosted freezer.

A dented can of organic tomatoes and some freezer-burned garlic souped and into my belly. Three packs of fish or seafood and one pack of sausages from the freezer into my belly. 600g/ 2kg (total) 85% chocolate into my belly. :EasterBun

A large synthetic cushion pad (lumpy) and an ancient towel (peed on by the cat _pale_) binned. Cracked linseeds (open and stale) and pack of dried pomegranate seeds binned. Already have a newer feather cushion pad and an unopened pack of cracked linseeds.

Recluttering: Two tubs of ricotta cheese (YS 34p each but have Skyr and goats cheese!), three green apples (YS 10p each) and four ripe pears (YS but wanted nectarines!).

Need to make loads more salads, soups and braised vegetables to use up all the YS dairy, fruit and veg in my refrigerator and freezer.

Deep cleaning: Used three bottles of sink and drain unblocker gel between the shallow kitchen drainer and bath plugholes. The kitchen drainer still smells faintly of mould, and still drains poorly.

This is an ongoing battle because it is badly plumbed. I should get my shiny new toolbox out and teach myself how to take it apart.

The shallow kitchen drainer is already running poorly again. And it is dripping underneath a little bit.

Really need to replace the tap and sinks but, because of how the kitchen was fitted and what else is beyond repair, that is an overwhelmingly big job. New worktops, new tiles, new hob. And decluttering the 'Hall of Shame' so they can get in the door.

Or ... I could just buy some duct tape tomorrow! :p

Decluttering: One ripe pear, some freezer-burned berries, half a tub of ricotta, and some melted 85% chocolate into my belly whilst pondering the plumbing. :D

Hi A Frayed Knot, the bag for the tip consisted of my daughter's clothes which she had grown out of which had been marked and soiled and well worn. So they went into the fabric section at the tip. I didn't make myself clear on that one....my wife knits a lot so I definitely know what would happen if I threw out a bag of her wool and fabric :-)

I used to knit a lot, an awful lot, but now just craft when I have the time, so your wife will know what I thought when I read your post re the fabric  but you escaped well on that one, explaining it was clothes and not fabric as such. :T

Just read back and noticed my lovely shining star. Thanks to you Mrs SD. Well done on your ERNIE win and the unexpected decluttering. That is always a win win. :)

After events earlier in the week I have now got DS2 to sort through all his bags of clothes.

So 4 bags have just gone with him to his flat. ! bag will stay here in the loft for winter stuff and change of clothes as he gets bored with the one he has. If he doesn't ask about these clothes in the next year or two, they will be offered him with a time linmit and disposed of. I am keeping two suits for funeral, weddings and interviews for him.:T

From his haul I have got two zippable hoodies. I am not wearing jumpers as I am constantly having to take them off and put them back on as I go through the hot/cold cyle which is a 'tropical moment' as my friends call it.

My husband is going to go though the haul as well and see if he wants anything but after that it is all going to the CS, washed and folded (some of this stuff was on the floor where he had left it.

So after the ins and outs this weekend I am up to 29/60 bags and 4 large items this year.

Even better, I didn't buy some shirts that I liked the fabric of and a lovely display easel from the CS today. I did bring hope some stuff for repair but that will go back next Sunday so not counting it. :A

The next project, after the clothes are sorted and loaded into the car, will be to get some order back into the upstairs of the house. It looks like a bomb has hit it. Stuff all over, no tidy bedrooms, not even mine which is usually an oasis. Maybe this is the kick in the pants I needed.:o

  • 1. SMALL TASKS WILL BE DONE ASAP
    2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I ENTERED
    3. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
    4. WHEN DEALING WITH CLUTTER I WILL USE ‘Daisy1571’s idea of ‘WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THIS ITEM IF IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S ?’
    5. IF I WAS STARTING FROM SCRATCH, WOULD I BUY THIS?
    6. BE LIKE A POSTAGE STAMP - STICK TO ONE THING UNTIL YOU GET THERE

Rained on & off all day - so did not venture out to the sm. it was also cold again so put the heating on for an hour. The storage area above the garage door has been boarded - unfortunately it took DH far longer than he anticipated as the beams were not level  DH also put up his LED light so now he will be able to see to work :D There are now a couple of large pieces of carpet, front & rear tyres for one of his motorbikes, 3 loft boards & 2 large rucksacks stored with enough space to store lots of shorter lengths of wood for projects. Also found another fluorescent tube & a damaged inflatable mattress which have gone in the Tip bag.

915 - 916 Yet another cardboard box, magazine - Recycled
917 - 918 fluorescent light tube, inflatable mattress - Tip
919 - 922 Three small cardboard boxes & packaging to send Easter Eggs abroad.

DSis vacuumed up all the sawdust from garage floor. I knocked up a small hm pizza from los for DH & I - very tasty & bacon sandwich for DSis. Dinner was ‘burnt one side’ pork loin steaks, mash & green beans. DSis actually really enjoyed it - odd bod :p I also used up some wilting veg, odds & sods from freezer & made a soup which has just been zizzed & taste tested by both DH & I - we are both happy as it tastes rather nice. So several days lunch for us with hm croutons. No idea what DSis will have :p

Well Done - Deni, tboo, Wednesday2000 (shame about theDH!), bit by bit (good on you re DS2’s clothing), A Frayed Knot (ditto - retired, no mortgage & cba’d ;)), leelad (Gold Star ⭐️ for taking photos & NOT throwing away fabric : ) ), gilly1964 ( good work getting through the 500 barrier) :T

Fire Fox, what a wonderful thing to say/write - brought a sentimental tear to my eye - Thank you ☺️ so much. You know duct tape makes sense :p Keeping on top of kitchen cleaning & eating well are major achievements :j & you know vacuum cleaners absolutely need a holiday every now & again :rotfl:

bit by bit, very well done on DS2’s clothes :j I think that as you have been so energetic with the clothes sorting & so much is going to CS that when you start to tidy upstairs it will be quite a quick job :p - I would definitely reclaim your ‘haven’ first!

What a wonderful amount decluttered Chocolatedrinker :T Well over a quarter of your 2019 target in just over a quarter of the year :T I have high hopes for your next post :D

    Happy decluttering everyone.
