No, I have a stick blender with a few different attachments (puree/ blend/ mash) for soups and smoothies.

I usually let fruit and/or veg in larger chunks (eg. broccoli, strawberries) defrost at room temperature or in the refrigerator first. Anything I have grated (eg. carrot, beetroot) or cut into small pieces (celery) defrosts so quickly it can be used straight from the freezer.

One benefit is that the freeze-thaw process softens fruit and veg speeding up prep/ cooking/ blending time. Broccoli soup stays green! :D Surprisingly a really wide range of vegetables do not need cooking, they are safe eaten raw or lightly warmed through.

    HTH! :)

    :T :T :T

Thank you! :D I've got a load of random veg in the freezer so might get it out and defrost for soup :D

  • I moved in with a friend in 2017 after a spell touring in a camper van. Sadly he died towards the end of last year and the bullying, snotty executors are harrassing and hounding me to get out. I have found somewhere to live and have been moving my stuff out one car load per day as I don't have the strength to do anymore (post cancer treatment knackeredness).

What I have been asking myself is where this stuff has come from? When I moved in with the stuff from my van it was virtually done in one go. How the devil did I end up with over a dozen car loads of stuff in one year????

I swear half of this stuff is going back out again to sell/donate or bin. Never want to go through a move like this again. This thread is the ideal motivation.

No decluttering for me today except for paint onto walls and woodwork. I think I still have another two days of painting to do so it will be minimal decluttering. A few bits are ready for the charity shop though.

It's been so good being able to redecorate. A boost and real motivation.

Likely 'preaching to the converted', but fruit smoothies are another option if you get bored of soup. A wide variety of frozen/ defrosted/ raw vegetables can go in without spoiling the flavour: beetroot, broccoli, carrot, spinach, butternut squash ... :)
Yes, but I'd rather have an excuse to eat ice cream and custard :p (I start off with lukewarm soup and lots of cold stuff to help with the pain, and slowly work my way to better nutrition - as the graft failed last time, I'm going to stick with liquids for at least a month this time as I don't want to take any unnecessary risks).

So pleased to hear that you've finally got to the point of decorating. If you're anything like me, once it's done, you'll just sit and admire it :)
