Hello lovely people!
I'm going to join in this year after failing to carry through my good decluttering intentions last year. Both hubby and I are terrible hoarders and our house is so hard to keep tidy because there's just too much stuff.
I've had an idea for a method of getting myself to get rid of things. I've often fantasised about something making all my possessions disappear and having a clean slate to start again (and the money to do so obviously!) so I'm going to look at everything and decide whether I'd buy it again if I was starting anew. If not then it can go out. Here goes!0 -
8. Decluttered most of the Christmas cards (close family still up). Backs taken off and the fronts have been stored ready to make tags with for next year.
9. Went through my Christmas/birthday box (decorations/bags/recycled tissue paper/ recycled wrapping paper) and discarded a couple of things -really tatty tissue paper and damaged bags). (I had reduced my decorations last time I did the challenge).2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

Hi everyone, I thought I would pop in today so say hello!
I am a long time lurker of these threads but I haven't always got the time to post. I just wanted to share that reading all of your comments really motivates me to get decluttering and tidying. I moved house 4 times in 2017 due to difficult personal circumstances so I had to declutter most of my belongings along the way. Now that I am in a good place, I peak and trough between buying goodies and decluttering which I don't mind as I am living within my means.
Anyway, thanks for motivating me, and happy new year to you all!0 -

Gin monster, WHAT AN EXCELLENT IDEA :T:T May I appropriate this as one of my mantras? It is such a simple idea that it beggars belief that no one else has thought to mention it :rotfl: With ideas like that you are a very welcome addition to our bandwagon :T & you have earned yourself a big gold star from me :staradmin :rotfl: Thank you so very much :T:T

Hello everyone. Happy New Year!
I'm back in for another year - 2019 in 2019 - and hope that by the end of this year our home will actually look more like I try to imagine it should.
New bedroom furniture just ordered online for the second bedroom - nearly everything has now left that space, and painting nearly finished. Things are starting to come together......
Some of this was before the Xmas holidays but missed the 2018 list.
1. Bottle of sesame old (ood)
2. Pair of tights (holed)
3. Broken clothes hanger
4 - 5. 2 useful cardboard boxes to a colleague who is moving offices
6. Strings of beads and snowflakes (xmas decs, tatty, in bin)
7. Xmas tree (donated to school)
8 - 11. Clothing (ragbags
12. Body spray (uu)
13. Plastic sweetie box (one of the big tubs from last year which was used for storage but noticed it doesn't seal well, so away to recycling)
14. Box tights (too small - to refuge)
15 - 24. 9 make-up items / toiletries plus packaging (to refuge)
25 - 26 Plastic bottle caps (actually 66) plus envelope for recycling (to Lush UK)
27 Sleeping bag (to cloth bank)
28. Decorated ;pine cones (bonfire pile)
29. Took down Xmas cards - recycled most
30 - 32. 2 bras plus packaging (to Smalls for All)
33. Bag of drawer knobs (cs)
34. LED light chain (cs)
35. Bundle of newspapers (to animal rescue centre)
36. Roll of wrapping ribbon (cs)
37. 2 charity postcards
38. Calendar (gorgeous pictures, reproductions of old maps of Scotland - would have been tempted to keep these in the 'old' days - now it's in the recycling)
39 - 44. 6 sets of 'things' to local candle crafter (actual 'things' nearer 30, but reckon I'll still hit target without counting up each individual item.:D)
45 China dish to animal rescue
Then the Xmas decorations came down today...
46 - 47 2 plastic Santa figures / toys (bin)
48 Spare fairy light bulbs and instructions (the lights were thrown away Jan 2018..)
49 Snowman ornament
50 Wooden Santa ornament (broken)
51 - 53 2 large freestanding Xmas ornaments (I don't really have shelf - windowledge space to display them properly) and a Santa dog-coat (too small) (cs)
54 Lampshade (cs)
55. Set of bodysprays (foodbank)
Last year I self-imposed a yarn moratorium until I use up some of the stash which has accumulated (although I did break it to purchase good wool to make a birthday present) and will just knit up blanket squares to reduce the yarn clutter. Will count the used up balls separately, and should reduce from 2 boxes to 1 by the end of the year.

Yikes, I just looked in the mirror before I went out and decided that the pink top I'm wearing can go to the charity shop tomorrow! Very unflattering sleeves on me.
I also put a long black cardigan (size 20?) in there as well as a black skirt and a black coat.
The black coat is new but I tried it on a few times and it makes me look like I'm in a choir or dressed up as a priest. Not the look I was going for.:rotfl:
I put a purse and some reusable bags in the donation bag too.0 -

Evening All
First day back at work done. I took the small bag of clutter gathered yesterday with me, never to return, so that's a win. No cheese or chocolate all day, it's been a shock to the system :rotfl:, but if I'm going to declutter the extra pounds, it's got to be done.
I had a little sort in the kitchen while cooking tea, some packaging recycled and last of Sunday's food shop put away (I bought a lot of teabags, they were on offer).
Going to have a 15 minute tidy, see what can be ousted while I'm at it.
