:j So many people :j I am soooo happy
Talking to my DH today & out of the blue he raised the ‘clothes hangers’ trick :T Maybe he is secretly reading along :rotfl: or more likely he is fed up of not being able to find what he is looking for :rotfl: Now I just need to get my DSis on board - unfortunately I think that is a tougher ‘sell’
So here goes ....
My target is 2019 items out in 2019. However this year I will Not be counting day to day food packaging in my totals. My mantras for the year are
1. SMALL TASKS WILL BE DONE ASAP
2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I ENTERED
3. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
4. WHEN DEALING WITH CLUTTER I WILL USE ‘Daisy1571’s idea of ‘WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THIS ITEM IF IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S ?’
New Year’s Day I was up at 8:30, unheard of for me :rotfl:. Walked to the sm & fed the water birds on the way, posted the letters/cards that I had sorted out (my personal paperwork is now up to date :T ) The sm was very quiet, so whizzed round & didn’t have to queue at the checkout :T Bus home & whilst packing food away I sorted & updated my list re contents of the garage freezer. I also wrote, addressed, weighed & noted dates for posting re all birthday cards to end of April. Next month I will sort out cards until end of July, then following month to end of October & April will see me through to the end of January. I have had several years of missing birthdaysso I am determined that I will not miss a birthday this year
:rotfl:
As my DH & DSis got up soooo late, we didn’t have lunch until 4:00 p.m. so will be having our roast beef tomorrow
1 - Christmas cards taken down, favourites cut down to make gift tags, the rest either recycled or binned.
2 - Dismantled & recycled one cardboard box
3 - 4 Binned empty paint pot & damaged floor tiles
Very slow start to the 2019 decluttering, but slow & steady wins the race
So off we go on our journeys to a Clutter Free 2019 :rotfl:

Not quite managed last year but determined too this year. I need more space in the house.
I will read back soon but welcome to any new posters0 -
Happy New Year all!:T
Today is bin day, so made a bit of a start yesterday:
1: 2018 calendar
2- 30: medicines and cosmetics (expired/open too long/empty containers left in the cupboard)
31-32 oven gloves with holes...
...and all the usual things that aren't worth counting, but would add to the clutter if they didn't go.2021 - mission declutter and clean - 0/20210 -
Morning everyone.
I'm really In the mood for some serious work after starting yesterday.
MrsSaladDodger, I loved the list, especially no 1 and 4. Genius. I'm going to steal them.
1. SMALL TASKS WILL BE DONE ASAP
2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I ENTERED
3. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
4. WHEN DEALING WITH CLUTTER I WILL USE ‘Daisy1571’s idea of ‘WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THIS ITEM IF IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S ?’!
I have the district nurse coming soon so will be rushing around trying to get some stuff done. The sink is clear and washing put away.:j

20. 2018 calendar binned.
21. Old analogue alarm clock - charity bag.
22. Stack of empty dvd and cd cases. Will ask if charity shop can use them, if not bin.0 -
Hello, may I join too? Not sure whether I can commit to a number of items but I know that I need to get rid of LOTS of stuff as my office side of our bedroom in the house we only moved into in June last year has become nicknamed Mordor by my beloved...…
As I'm procrastinating rather than preparing for work next week, here's what I've got up to so far this morning:
1. A big box of coloured pencils has come out of a desk drawer and gone into a bag for school, with me carefully removing 17 each of red, amber and green for the children to self-assess their work at the end of lessons.
2. A spare stapler has gone into the same bag (I don't really need 3 at home, do I?!)
3. A few receipts have gone into the shredding pile.
4. A silver necklace that is too short for me has gone into the bag for the charity shop.0 -
Parsniphead, it is really surprising how helpful the list can be
& you are more than welcome to use it. Last year I only had 3 mantras but I did make a note of daisy1571’s idea. Now I just need to remember it :rotfl: when I start the decluttering in earnest :rotfl:
Last night, I printed off both freezers contents lists, now I just need to finish the menu plan for the next few days. No plans for the day but will pootle around & try to get something done
The ‘Decluttering Bandwagon’ is now 2 carriages long& hopefully we can hitch up a 3rd for those that join us in the next few days/weeks/months :rotfl:
So welcome one & all, our ‘Decluttering Army’ has started it’s campaign :T

Happy New Year everyone, slinking back after a lot of illness in the extended family using up my headspace. Very aware that if I had already finished decluttering, I wouldn't be arriving back from some days away and feeling depressed with the amount still to do.
Target: start this month with something out every day, other than general waste. Some days this might be very trivial, but I also have a television to take to the tip, once I find my proof of being a local resident. I'll be away for a long weekend, so will try to do more beforehand, maybe another bag of clothes
Personal declutter - I can only wear my fat clothes at present. I know my weight will drop during the month anyway, now the festive eating is over, but will try to follow Veganuary, which works well for me. I have had a slip with this already, as I absent-mindedly put milk in my tea in a cafe yesterday. I use non-dairy milks at home, so tend to forget it's dairy elsewhere. As part of this, will make some big batches of vegetable and lentil soup variations at the weekend to freeze in portions. I love it, and want to use up all the spices and herbs to start fresh. I'll also jot down notes of recipes I find appealing, as it stops me searching for them again (cookery books have gone now)
Presents declutter - a bit more controversial as it seems ungrateful, but will go through toiletries I've received, and pass on those which I won't realistically use. I also have a half-bottle of port, which I might try and give away. It's been unopened for about five years. I used to make Stilton pate with it, but don't get Stilton any more. (addiction problem when it's available)
Good luck everyone0 -

I managed 1/2 episode 1 yesterday (parenting duties called) & today got up and did my wardrobe!
2 black bags,a large shopper bag and 12 pairs of shoes.
Delayed my kitchen inventory plans somewhat but I'm at peace with that:AWealth is not measured by currency0 -
I will probably darken your door this year, if that's OK?
Sod's law declared I was ill over Christmas: I did plan to have a good sort out while off work but it was all I could do to put out the rubbish and get to the corner shop for milk.
