Another eight items gone - if the family complains we're down to one pair of nail clippers in the bathroom I'll be surprised. The two pairs I chucked out were thick with rust and can't have worked. Amongst the other bits to go were some catalogues, they seem to go out of date faster than seafood.

However, I've been lent a book of crochet so I may end up with more projects soon.

  • DH and I both have a few days off and we’ve been doing lots of decluttering - finally! Our bedroom is clean, tidy and decluttered for the first time in ages, not sure it’s REALLY been this good since we moved in 9 years and 11 months ago. We are now up to 482 items, which includes a couple of bags of paperwork which I counted as one as I have no idea how many bank statements etc I shredded! Feeling very pleased with how we are doing!

  • 1. SMALL TASKS WILL BE DONE ASAP
    2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I ENTERED
    3. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
    4. WHEN DEALING WITH CLUTTER I WILL USE ‘Daisy1571’s idea of ‘WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THIS ITEM IF IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S ?’
    5. IF I WAS STARTING FROM SCRATCH, WOULD I BUY THIS?
    6. BE LIKE A POSTAGE STAMP - STICK TO ONE THING UNTIL YOU GET THERE

Tuesday my F*tb*t was not as unhappy as it could have been :D I ended up reaching 5 of my 6 goals :p Made it happy on Wednesday 6/6 :T
Wednesday was another nice day - DH took DSis for yet another hospital appointment at yet another hospital :o Apparently it took longer for her to find the department than it did to have the liver scan  They then went to MrS for shopping. Later I walked to MrA (saw the Egyptian Geese & the grebes who are definitely nesting :D) & got the extra bits I needed (as I forgot to give DH an actual list :o) I also ‘treated’ myself to an iron - £10 :T & when I returned home I put the old steam iron system into the Tip bag :T as we could no longer get the filters + it took up too much space :o Made a full roast beef dinner with Yorkshire pudding & hm gravy. All los went into the hm soup together with lots of vegetables - slow cooked & Thursday I will zizz it ready for lunches from Friday :D

374 - Old steam iron in Tip bag
375 - 378 Uu contents of 2 plastic bottles, glass jar & metal lid - rinsed & recycled
    379 & 380 Nonrecyclable plastic box & lid - binned

Thursday is another glorious spring day :D I have had a mini flurry of activity - cleaned & sorted 2 out of the 3 remaining cubbyholes :T, the bulbs we planted up have been moved from the shed out into the sunshine for a couple of hours (this will become a daily occurrence), the home grown olives have been taste tested & re-brined & returned to the shed for one more month & then I believe they will be ready to pot as gifts :T The squirrels had a go at the bulbs - little b*ggers  so DH is building a frame with netting to cover the pots when they have their daily outing from the shed :rotfl: By the way my F*tb*t was Happy :D

    Now cheerleading :D

Well Done villagelife, you are powering towards 300 :T

GreenQueen, time for some Kondoing, me thinks :rotfl:

Well Done on the decluttering Onebrokelady :T Good luck with the kitchen decluttering :D you are halfway there as you have already made a plan of action :T An extra special Well Done on decluttering a large item of furniture :T - oodles of space :p

Well Done Happy Kitties :T & really Well Done on the wool decluttering :T:T

Well Done amycool & DD :T excellent work & I hope you have taken photos of your newly sorted & folded clothes :T I love the toilet roll conundrum :rotfl: Very Well Done on starting the ‘great Paperwork declutter’ :T & please try not to overwork your shredder :rotfl: Sorry about the future decluttering of pennies for the boiler :( Excellent work on the kitchen & I :rotfl: at your DD’s encouragement to continue until done :rotfl: My DH has loads of painting clothes but they are now all in one place :D & give him his due he does bin them when they get too bad :rotfl: rather than put them in the laundry basket :T

nannywindow, Well Done on standing firm re the photos :T & brilliant that you burnt them yourself :T you are a closet pyromaniac :rotfl:

somerandom, Well Done on the continuing decluttering :T Shame you are not decluttering by weight :rotfl: a washing machine would have made a huge dent in a weight target :rotfl:

Gem-gem, Well Done on so much decluttering :T & getting your DH on board is absolutely brilliant :T you have led by example & it has worked :rotfl::T You must be gathering together quite a hoard for the boot fair :D - when is it? Soon I hope because then your spare room will be emptied :D. I beg to disagree about the lack of decluttering :naughty: You have done an excellent declutter of raw ingredients into dinners & ready meals for the freezer :T You are not a member of ‘The First Wives Club’ are you? sorry, the film just popped into my head when you mentioned ladies that lunch :rotfl:

Fire Fox, truly a ‘marathon paperwork declutter session’ you have my unstinted admiration :D & you get a gold star :staradmin. I take it you found the recalcitrant medical paperwork ;) You have shown me the way :T - I still need to find our birth & marriage certificates so I will have to bite the bullet - create a mess & hopefully locate them ;)

retiredinfrance, Well Done on reaching two momentous decisions :T re the clothing & the cardboard boxes :T Fingers crossed that your DH doesn’t notice ;) & being harsh - tough :rotfl: What is that saying ..... oh yes .... ‘Use it or lose it’ :rotfl:

chupachups4, steady cluttering of pennies for your travel pot :T. Please do not be so harsh on yourself :naughty: - if you are 50 items behind add a few extra each day for a week & you will be all caught up :rotfl: I fear that you might lose the will to live if you try to list 50 items in one session :p

Barny1979, Well Done on keeping up the decluttering momentum :T you are powering your way to 200 :T & stillgoing - like the energiser bunny :T:rotfl:

choille, do the items you bought have a place - if so that is good :T BUT if you have just hidden them away, then not so good :(. choille, plastic breeds like paperwork :( it doesn’t seem to make any difference how hard we try not to allow it house room - it slides it’s way in

Marpau, an eclectic mix of decluttering - Well Done :T

Saver-upper, sorry to hear that you have been so unwell :( but pleased that you have managed to declutter your illness & have got back your decluttering mojo :T Really pleased that your family have been taking care of you even if they weren’t able to keep the house tidy ;) It seems that it is only the ‘main declutterer’ who can keep the home tidy ;) You certainly haven’t hung around :rotfl: Well Done on all that decluttering & powering through the 200 mark :T

Cherryfudge, Sorry RL has got in the way of your decluttering :( but I imagine you have been doing lots of decluttering whilst sorting mum’s house :D. There is no such thing as ‘only five things’ :naughty: every single item out is a decluttering win :T:D especially completing knitting projects :T Now, now Cherryfudge - you are doing so well on the decluttering :T but I will let you off borrowing a crochet book as Rewarding yourself by starting crocheting projects is a good way to go :T

ryanmaryland, Good Luck with the Kondoing :D

Well Done CompletelyLost :T more pennies in the kitty :D You have caught the ‘Decluttering Bug’ big time :rotfl: Feeling happy that items are leaving & craving that feeling :rotfl: it is most assuredly addictive :rotfl:

whmf00001, how lovely that your young cleaning lady is benefitting from your ‘clutter’ It is no longer clutter - it is now loved by another :rotfl: You get several gold stars ⭐️ :staradmin :staradmin for resisting the temptation to buy a soup maker :T:T I rather like the idea of a ‘mental declutter’ :D

never too old, Well Done on decluttering kitchen shelves & sorting & tidying pens etc - I hope they all work :rotfl: Plastic storage containers & lids are a bit like socks :rotfl: they hide & are remarkably good at it :rotfl:

Ginmonster, I am definitely with you on the supposedly visible clutter becoming invisible :rotfl: but you are in the correct place - we are all gradually opening our eyes & surprising & sometimes shocking ourselves with the clutter we finally see :rotfl: Well Done on decluttering more books :T

MadamMim, rant away ;) we are all here to help each other along :D. First things first, you MUST ‘Declutter your mind of guilt & despondency’ - that is your first order of business :D Do you have something you like to do - knitting, cooking, baking, going for a walk or maybe you paint. Whatever it is, take Friday to yourself. Enjoy the day & hopefully whatever is bothering you will surface & you can deal with it ;)

bunty109, now that is what I call decluttering :T delegating tasks to others :rotfl: Well Done on decluttering lotions & potions :T & hopefully you will declutter your lurgy very soon :D

Well Done Seaotter & Mr Seaotter :T A room fully sorted & if I may say so one of the more important rooms in the home :rotfl: nudge, nudge, wink, wink :rotfl: All joking aside, having a haven to retreat to when the clutter gets too much is essential to your peace of mind :D You & your DH are positively racing to 500 :T

    See you later

    Have done some more

280-284 books to League of Friends shop at work.
285 bubble wrap to a work colleague.

Am out today with my sister as a birthday present to her. It saves us buying stuff for the other one and we enjoy a day out together.

Suffering with lurgy here so delegating tasks! Son's room has had wallpaper stripped (by son) and is ready to paint. He's emptied his clothing but that ended up being sorted in my room. I've just sat and folded the CS stuff and another bag of old uniform. His school doesn't have a second hand shop to donate to which is annoying and I'm finding the Facebook selling sites too much hassle at the moment :(

Will think about what to do with the uniform when I'm better. Have also managed to tidy all the lotions and potions in our en suite which will hopefully surprise my parents when they visit. :p

Re: the uniform, does your son have any friends with younger siblings/cousins? They might be grateful of the extra uniform, even if it's just stashed for a couple of years until it fits. Especially if it's logo'd - that's horrendously expensive!
