It has been a beautiful sunny day here in West Yorkshire!
Hope it is the same wherever you declutterbugs are, or will be sunny for you tomorrow.
Decluttering: two heavy bagfuls of paper/ card to the communal recycling bins, two bagfuls - mostly giftable items - to the charity shop, several bent lever arch files and one mouldy roller blind to the dumpster.
Recluttering: several boxes of mixed junk moved from my old 'room of doom' (newly designated as the 'DIY room' :j) to the hallway (hereafter known as the 'hall of shame'). As a result I can get to the far end of my new DIY room for the first time in several years!
Yesterday I vacuumed up the cobwebs, dust and dead flies _pale_ and set up the air purifier. Today I deep cleaned the far end (windows inside and out, frames, reveal, floor below) of black mould and diesel exhaust muck.
 From dumping ground/ store room to useable space in just seven days. I am so proud of myself!Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Evening all
Decluttered today........ my bank account. Sorry should say I've paid my gas and leccy bill :rotfl:
I had a much needed hairdresser appointment this afternoon, so quite a bit of hair decluttered too :j
Binned another pair of Sunday socks and an odd one, I seem to have had a run on those lately.
I also tidied the lounge cupboard and deposited copious old lists ( mainly of the freezer contents ) 2 magazines dated from last year, an old diary and a OOD yellow pages in the recycling box.
Sarell I'm sure MrsSD will be along to welcome you into the asylum.... er I mean thread soon :rotfl:Whoo hoo another playmate for meeee :j
Sending healing vibes to those who are poorly and hugs to anyone struggling at present.
Happy decluttering all.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Our attitudes to stuff and why we get so emotionally attached to possessions totally fascinates me. I know it has become of interest to academics and I am really looking forward to seeing what comes out of their research. I come from a family where everyone is very emotional about stuff but never actually looks at the stuff! I have multiple relatives who have boxes of stuff that have been in their attic for 20-40 years. They haven't opened those boxes in all that time but if you suggest decluttering they claim that they love those items! If I loved something I feel I would have wanted to look at it in the last few decades! I do catch myself occasionally doing the same thing so I have to be vigilant.
It's definitely an interesting, puzzling one! I don't want to be one of those people. I'm sometimes glad we live in a flat with no storage space, as it means all clutter is in full view, so needs to be addressed! I'm sure if we had an attic it'd be much worse:rotfl:
I sold 2x dvds today, from the epic pile :jnot much but a start.
Just a question... what are "neutral" items? I've seen these mentioned in a few posts.0 -
Tidied the hall that had become a dumping ground and moved to stuff to it's proper home - such as a pair of bedside cabinets - I know.
Dumped a jumper & pants that were past it & a huge bag of stuff for the recycling bin. Hall looks much nicer when you come in as it was a disgrace. Feel better having done that today.0 -

Decluttered a few bits n bobs here..
Moved items about to better homes.
Began decluttering brain cells trying to write an appeal support letter for my friend on PIP. Her condition had deteriorated considerably in the last year, mobility is very poor, acute pain etc, yet they have chosen on this assessment to reduce her help, this assessor said she looked fine, was average build (she’s now a size 4/6!!!) so angry, so many lies on the report..shouldn’t be allowed...:mad:
Anyhoo.. Chatted with DS1 & GF for a while, then watched a programme together.
Visited by a good friend (surprise visit) tea decluttered, lots chatted about..
Catching up with e-mails and then need to get on with said letter.. any extra brain cells welcomed.. please send my way :rotfl::rotfl:"There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇0 -
MadamMim - the CAB will help with an appeal letter. They are very good. A
Dr's letter also helps but Citizen's Advice are best at this sort of helpful advice.0 -
And another box of DVDs, cd's and books sold. So far this year I have sold £150.00. Woo hoo :j
Wish it was this easy to sell good quality clothes.
I like the idea of removing all you possessions and only putting back what you really want.
When I met my hubby I sold my house first and 90% of my stuff went into storage. For most of it, it was like experiencing Christmas and birthday all over again. It was lovely to be reunited with my stuff after two years.
Went to a friend of the family's funeral today. He was only 52 years old. My brother has been helping to clear his house.
Hubby and I are both ENglish Heritage and National Trust members. We went to a green grocers house that had not been renovated / changed since NT inherited it. They said that they documented close to a 100,000 objects!!!! The green groucer was a big collector of shells and natural things.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

I have been away for a few days for a break and time out with DH. We stayed in a lovely B&B in Derbyshire. It was lovely and clean so you can imagine what I thought of my own place when I came back.
Oddly I didn't feel any happier when I came back from my hoarder DS's house on Monday either.
In the last week I have managed to take three bags of books to the CS and I have two bags of rags to go tomorrow in the car. I also left books at the B & B ( I took some on purpose just in case). I also read one of their's and left it there.
Decluttering is going well (for me) but the grime and dirt is not as easy to get rid of. It requires the sort of energy I don't have to keep everything ship shape. I have gotten lazy ( read here un motovated and exhausted).
Anyway. Today I had a go at the en suite bathroom. Deep cleaning it. I NEVER clean that shower; it being one of hubby's jobs. I have come tor realise he doesn't do it either. I have a reminde for me to do the same next month so hope to keep on top of it from now on, just the rest of the house to go.:oWife, mother, gardener, nurse, Big C survivor.
