More stuff bagged for charity. Recycling bin filled as I am getting rid of stuff that was just in case - too many empty plastic containers and magazines which are not good enough to pass on as they are so old!
Not setting the heather on fire but am doing a slow progression.0 -
So during in my lunch break today, I made myself a list of 5 things I wanted to achieve before I sat down after getting home from work. I achieved all 5 things (was just finishing the last thing when hubby arrived home an hour after me). I have cleared the dining table producing a bag of rubbish, a carrier bag for the charity shop, all washing put away (need to go through the wardrobe as it is very full and stuff at the back can go) washed uniform as need to dry overnight for tommorow. I have a empty lidded plastic box in the bottom of the wardrobe, I cleared the crap from that last year, its empty space. I used the lidded box to store the vintage tablewear i use at chtismas (inherited and a few matching bits from ebay) as they are safer there than stacked in my over stocked small kitchen cupboards.. So the dining room is clear (apart from a clothes horse of quick drying uniform to go away tomorrow) and the kitchen worktops are clearer. Most importantly my mum's vintage China (along with the bits i have replaced) is safer than it would be in the kitchen.
I found a book I got for christmas and have started to read it with a glass of wine, once read it will go in the bag for the book stall at church. I have changed the bed linen but have not put the washing machine on as we would have it hanging in the dining room tommorow when I am cooking for Valentine's day and we will use the dining room to eat, nothing kills the ambience like wet washing hanging around you.
I keep looking a the coffee table and thinking that needs decluttering - but its late!
The short to do list is the way forward!!!
Also due to my insane pottering around the house and up and down stairs I have exceeded (by a country mile) my fitbit steps for the day!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -

I agree! I do like productivity books (that makes me sound very dull!) and a common bit of advice is not to have more than 5 things on your to-do list at one time. Apparently, your brain has a meltdown if faced with a longer list. I am trying to stick to that as I have a tendency to write a 1000 word to-do list which I have no hope of achieving! I am trying to just write 5 items on my daily list and then keep a notebook of things that need to be done sometime. If I have time I can dip into that list.
Anyway, my decluttering has been a bit slow. It is very hard to get motivated when it is so cold.
169) Notebook sold on ebay
170) Craft stuff sold on Facebook
171) Radio sold on ebay
172) 2019 diary that annoyed me thrown away
173) Cookie jar sold on ebay
174) Brooch sold on ebay
I also finally managed to take my recycling out. The bins are communal so it is a bit of a pain for a shorty like me to reach the lid in the recycling one!0 -

whmf00001, keeping your DD happy is as good a reason as any to declutter whilst ‘thinking’ about moving :rotfl: By the way there is nothing to be bothered about - If & when you decide to move it will be because it is going to make YOU happy
nannywindows - every single item out is a decluttering win :T I hope the injection goes well. I see that it did:j See, even if your ‘get up & go’ has ‘got up & gone’ you are still decluttering- Well Done :T
Deni debt-free dreamer, Well Done on a great weekend declutter :T & a bonus - not having to buy a new bin :T. I hope you thanked your friend for getting lost :rotfl: as you decluttered your car
chocolatelover93, So sorry you & your DS are having such a rough time of itAnd yes, clearing tasks off your ‘To Do’ list is decluttering - I hope you put a big red line through the tasks completed
I really am wishing both you & your DS speedy recoveries. I am sending both you & your DS lots of (virtual) gentle (((hugs))).
MadamMim2013, what a lovely post. Sad that you had to declutter ££ but happy that it was for a good cause
You do know you are ‘allowed’ days off from decluttering :rotfl: especially as you have been such a good declutterer :T
Uncluttered_unicorn, a major breakthrough - Well Done :T Not letting day to day clutter get a foothold is a real triumph :T & you are still decluttering as well. You get a Gold Star
tboo, your CS must love youlots of nice pieces :T
ailz95, Excellent decluttering - Well Done :T. You do know if your DM did answer you wouldn’t know what to say :rotfl: I have problems with cluttered drawers so I think I might just have a trawl through t’internet :rotfl:
aimeemum, an excellent idea for a tv programme but as you say not so practical for real life if there is more than one of you in the householdYou are doing a great job with your decluttering :T. Do you set yourself a time limit to do a specific declutter?
Hermia, live & learnno point in being annoyed - you now have a completely different way of approaching clutter that works for you
By the way, Well Done on cluttering pennies :T

:hello: Completelylost & welcome to the ‘Decluttering Bandwagon’Nice to see another new face
You have nothing to feel guilty about when decluttering ‘stuff’ after all you have the memories & probably photos
You are in a new phase of your life - one where you are now classing ‘stuff’ as ‘clutter’ :rotfl: You have made an absolutely brilliant start on your decluttering journey - Well Done :T. A word of caution, do not get despondent if you don’t hit your target by the end of April
it may take you to the middle or even end of May :rotfl: as Real Life has a habit of laying waste to our plans/good intentions :rotfl: We are all here to cheer each other on & I, for one, am looking forward to reading your posts
Well Done Marpau :T - you have definitely caught the ‘Decluttering Bug’ :rotfl:
Well Done never too old :T Taking in two people & their attendant ‘clutter’ & having room to do so is brilliant :T:T Decluttering is a ‘Quest for Space’ :rotfl:
parsniphead - you are doing really well :T You are a busy mum, so please do not get frustrated with tidying & cleaningas this really does help with the decluttering
- as once clean & tidy you are less likely to want clutter invading :rotfl:
villagelife - more books out :T Your comment about nothing away out reminded me of Mickey Flanagan :rotfl: the stuff is ‘out’ but not ‘out out’ :rotfl:
dingdongsaving, does the school have a second hand shop to donate old uniform? You sound like you are extremely busy so please don’t be too downhearted - even if you have to wait for school holidays to have a good sort out you are still on the ‘Declutter Bandwagon’
Barny1979, you must be running out of wallpaper :rotfl: are you sure you’re not doing other people’s houses
choille, slow & steady wins the race. The trouble with setting the heather on fire is that everything burns even the plants you want to keep :rotfl:
Wow sillyvixen just Wow :T. A short ‘To Do’ list definitely seems to be the way to goYou have inspired me - thank you :T I am going to write a 5 item ‘To Do’ list as soon as I post this :rotfl:
Well Done everyone :T some great decluttering taking place :T
See you later today

This morning a quick declutter of
238 a mug to DS1 work
239 some coat hangers - out into recycling. Not sure whether they will be taken though.0 -
There won't be too much decluttering today as I'm taking mum out for a birthday breakfast.
I'm going to try to get some done later today while I have the mojo and before my treatment hits me tomorrow and wipe me out for a few days.
This thread has really got me motivated though so thank you all. I just wish I had an on going list to look at but I'm not that organised.:rotfl:
Just a quick tidy upstairs before I go out. It's so nice being able to do it.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

Sainsburys have boxes for hangers near their tills0 -
^Hope you enjoyed your breakfast, parsniphead, and take care
Mrs Salad Dodger - that's true about "stuff". I just wish I could internalise that thought!!! I think it stems from my grandparents, and my mum, they always made me feel sad getting rid of said stuff...
The taking photos of it suggestion is an interesting one. I'm not sure if I'd like to look back on it... I do sometimes look back on old photos of stuff I've sold, and I can't say that I've ever wished I had kept it.
So, today I listed a few more dvds on ebay. I tried the different apps like Ziffit, musicmagpie, and they didn't want them. No harm listing them, before I eventually charity shop what's left!
Another of my downfalls - I'd rather sell something for 50p than bin or c/shop it! Hence the target of April to sell stuff.
Anyway enough of my rambling for todayI'm going to go and clear up the kitchen/bedroom. I have an Occ Health appointment tomorrow and I'm so worried about it, so gonna try to keep my mind busy!
