Hugs to all that need them.
221-232 books to the League of Friends shop at work.
A small amount of stuff leaving the house is good.
More tidying done too. Found space for some of DS1 stuff too.0 -
Chocolatelover 93 sounds awful - I'm not surprised your mental health isn't good. Watching little ones suffer is awful.
Thanks for all the good wishes everyone. Funnily enough I've done more 'talking' to my mum since she died - now we don't need the telephone - she's not answered me yet though
Decluttered today was our day out - we get a 6 hour break each week and sometimes nip out for an hour or so when DH's sister & hubby come over at weekend.
Charity shop:
2 large pyrex dishes
kitchenalia
2 books
ornaments that neither of us love - including some from my mum's.
Packed & ready to go to a CS
2 large & 2 small wicker baskets
2 racing pictures of MIL's horses - she doesn't remember the horses any more
Various books
3 black bin liners of clothes & coat hangers
6 black bin liners of bubble wrap
More ornaments
Mandolin - slicer not the musical type
oblong ramekin dish with lid
Glass to take to the recycling:
2 bags of bottles - mainly from my tipple - cider vinegar :rotfl: & MILs gin bottle. DH mainly gets through jam & marmalade
Decluttered a glass when it fell out of the cupboard & shattered.
I tidied some drawers after watching a video on you tube where someone was showing how Marie Kondo does it. It certainly saves a lot of space. I do like MK but I also liked how they did it on 'Consumed' - it's on Netflix if anyone is interested. They box everything in the entire house up and you live with nothing for 2 weeks, then after the 2 weeks, you purge (on the show they did 75%) and just keep what you really want/need/missed. Obviously it's not feasible to do that in normal circumstances, but I've been taking everything out of a space and boxing up what I'm not sure about keeping - when I come to sort that box in however long it takes me to get to it, I'll have a much clearer head about what to keep. Could you pack away all but a couple and then in a month or two get them out again?Changing my Family's Future!! - Starting again!!!!

I ended up doing that when I moved house. The legal stuff took longer than expected so I had to shove tons of stuff into storage while I was renting. I was without that stuff for 6 months and there was probably only a few items I needed/missed during that time. When I emptied the storage unit I ended up just selling or donating most of it. I was very annoyed that I spent money on storage fees!
I now do a limited version of this if I am dithering over something. I put it in a box in a cupboard for x months and if I do not need/want the item during that time I will declutter it. If it is a consumable/practical item I will sometimes keep it out and make myself use it. For example, if I keep dithering over a lipstick I will put it out as my only lipstick that week. If I keep not wanting to put it on or I don't enjoy using it I can chuck it away.0 -
Re soft toys, I was hanging on to a load of them, managed to part with them when there was an appeal from a local animal shelter for toys for a tombola. Have just a couple of bears, which I bought with a small amount of money left to me by a relative, and a couple of Meerkats from an insurance company. I hope that the toys went to children who would enjoy playing with them rather than sitting gathering dust in my spare bedroom.Make £2025 in 2025

Hello! I've watched these threads for years, but I'm going to try to actively post. I have so much stuff... which needs to be ebayed, sold, donated or recycled.
I really struggle with sentimental stuff... e.g. clothes, accessories and general crap from when I was young/thin which don't fit. HOW do you get rid of this stuff guilt-free?!!
I've decided to give myself until the end of April to get rid of the excess stuff. If I list on ebay, it has a month to sell and then it's being donated.
So far today I've taken a bag of stuff to the textile/charity recycling bin - 2 pairs jeans, a bra past its best, old socks, 4 dvds.
Binned 2 pairs old underwear past their best! Recycled two magaines, emptied the bins and taken out the general recycling stuff.
Also have 2 ebay items to post out today. Not much but it all counts... and it's quite nice seeing slightly more space in my drawers.0 -
I too had far too much stuff which I no longer wore but kept for sentimental reasons . I found having to photograph it all helped when getting rid you can keep photos as long as you like. I now find myself actively looking for items to sell. This forum throws up new possibilities almost every day (items I had never considered before). Keeping a total of pennies earned helps the momentum. I am now on 4th sweep of wardrobes and items I couldn't part with at the start are now being added to the pile. OH always says it's not making any money hanging in a wardrobe!!0

One bin bag of rubbish thrown out and a blow up guitar slashed and binned while DS is at school.
The rest of the day has been tidying and washing mainly. A bit frustrating but tidying helps with the decluttering.
The main thing is my stairs are clear and completely empty.....no piles of stuff. What a difference. I'm going to start again when Ive picked up DS and DH. It's hard to do with DS about as I think he has my hoarder tendancies so I may finally get around to the chest of draws I've been waffling on about for ages.
It's been a nice day today and I wish I had washed my curtains which DS managed to pull down months ago. It's forecast to be lovely tomorrow so I may pop them in tonight to go out tomorrow. Fingers crossed.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%
