Banked my sinking fund of £400, didn't want to keep the cash at home any longer. Pretty sure it will not be needed any time soon, will build it up again in a separate savings account.

Hopefully my lodger stays for another month so I can add some more to my EF on 1st Dec.

Hi MrsMouse, may I be nosey and ask how come your EF target is so high, 16k? Is that simply due to high income, high expenditure?

    :)

I wish it were high income but it's not. Nor is it high expenditure LOL. I have no idea how people can afford to pay 000s either into a savings fund in a matter of months or off their mortgage. Alas, it's just an amount I would like to be able to save to cover a certain period if I were to lose my job or had to retire before my state pension kicks in :)

That's fair enough, good on you for planning ahead :)

I personally have an itch to spend my EF on something that would potentially improve my life, I couldn't have 16k put aside and not touch it...

The plan is to get to 5k by the end of January 2020, then add £100 per month. :)

Im all the way down to £100. Weve had a lot of vet, car, and home repair bills.
Ive gone back to work early from maternity leave so this should start to get right in the new year. We've had to have one of our cats put to sleep but we know we did the absolute best for him that we could.

Thank goodness weve had an emergency fund, I think next year we will be upping it.

post #2 has been updated for you too Scrimps

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat - they really are part of the family and it's horrible when this happens.

It's at the time you really really need your emergency fund that you realise and appreciate all those months of adding to it. That is what it's there for after all.

    keep on keeping on everyone.
