I would like to join in again, I’ve been very lazy about sticking to any kind of budget and really need to concentrate on building up my savings again.

Can you put me down for £50.00 this month please, there is only me and occasional visitors to cater for.

I’ve going back to using a separate purse for household stuff and I still have food that needs using up so I’m hoping to last out till the weekend before having to declare a spend.

Meal plan for the next three days =
Broccoli & stilton souffle, side salad
    Beef stew, mash & cabbage
Fish fingers, chips, coleslaw & salad
    Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
    July - Grocery spends = £119.54
    Aug - Grocery spends = £20.63
  • first shop of 2019 today yesterday was NSD today £8.00 / £250 as needed teabags, milk, plastic cheese and containers as I batched cooked some Bolognese and lasagne for the OH work meals for the freezer. The OH had 'accidentally' broke some and did not have enough.

Also decided to make it easier that I am going to use my monzo account I don't use that much to put my grocery budget into every month which means i can track my total.

  • Hello, I’ve been catching up with some old threads here trying to get a grip on our grocery spending. We’re a family of 6 with 2 dogs and i’d like to set a budget of £600 for the month. I’m sure we’re normally over this as I rarely menu plan & my weakness is going shopping and leaving my list stuck to the fridge at home!! I’ve got a click & collect order to pick up tomorrow & also popping in to Lidl for the cheaper items on my list. If i’ve worked everything out correctly then we should be under £100 for the first shop of the year. Fingers crossed & really looking forward to gaining some tips here!
  • First spend of 2019 today
    2 jars of coffee
    So that's £5/£300
Will go to farmfOOds on the way home from work tomorrow to pick up milk.

New Year - serious enthusiasm for starting new challenges so please can I join in again

Total spends so far £8.50 today on dog food, cauliflower and broccoli.
At the moment I'm trying to make do with what is in the fridge before I venture into the freezers.

We are a family of 3 adults plus one dog (Our daughter has just moved back in with us for a period of a few months. I'll have to re-educate her as she spends money as if it is going out of fashion. She normally shops at F&Mason or M&S Food Hall and her wastage has to be seen to be believed. She thinks the main supermarkets are 'downmarket'. She's in for a serious shock when we go shopping :D:D:D)

I'm reasonably well stocked particularly with meat and I have quite a lot of home grown frozen vegetables and fruit plus the veg plot is still producing some fresh stuff, so please put me down for £150 for January.

    Hi all,

I would like to rejoin (for the umpteenth time) but really need to stick with it. I have had a bad few months so I need to get back in the game.

My husband died in November so there's just me, 3 kids (one unfillable ds with ASD) and 2 cats. Not sure how being a man down will affect the budget or if I'll be able to cook from scratch as much now but I'm hoping to stick to £65 per week for food, toiletries, cleaning and washing stuff and cat food. We'll see how it goes.

Good to be back on the boards.

Sorry to hear that you lost your husband VickyV. I hope you and the kids have positive memories you had a chance to reflect on over the holidays. There is lots of support for you here on the forum - both in how to reduce and control your grocery shopping and in boosting you a little if times are tough. My best wishes to you

  • Zafiro downmarket? good luck :D maybe you’ll be able to convert her when she sees what she could save to spend on other things?

VickyV welcome back and so sorry to hear about your loss.

Just added yesterday’s spend onto my sig - we shouldn’t need anything more here until Saturday now.
