I realise that 8% is a conservative estimate but any higher is a plus point.

I tend to plan for the worst and hope for the best when I'm investing. Doing it the other way around is why the European economy is like it is...
Negative equity of £100k. including the mortgage :)

I own some yea. I was hoping people would give up on them a bit more especially with Europe falling off the edge of the world

They arent that easy for me to buy short term, I would probably only buy near 10p

Have they made peace with the Saami tribe

They have to give 10 days notice prior to drilling which is what they have done which is why they are drilling now. I'm not sure any miners will be able to make peace. They are bothering all miners at the moment. At least Sweden support mining. It is good to finally see them moving on again. 10p is a good target but i'm not sure it will get there, who knows in this market. Once it breaks out from 15p things will get interesting.

(It's too easy to play with the guys in the debate the economy/houses forum, they are too serious, keyboard warriors lol)

I can no longer devote the time (and enthusiasm) required to tend to my self select ISA and begrudge the periodic management fee for which I can no longer see any benefit. I have concentrated on income (vod) and in order to benefit from the shelter of C.G.T. my current holding would need to rise in price in the region of 30p. I would suggest that this is not likely in the foreseeable future.
Recently my brokers informed me that they will be transferring their business and have sent me a form to consent to the transfer. They say that if I decline, then I will no longer be able to hold my account with them.
In true money saving mode, I wondered if they close my account then I won't have to shell out the fees for same and the transfer fee for the holding to me.
Before I contact them in order to "discuss the options available" to me, I would welcome any comments.

I would expect them to waiver the transfer fees if closing accounts. I dont think they are obliged to convert the holding to a paper certificate as that is of a different form. That would be ideal though dealing fees are higher, maybe you can persuade them

I wonder why an investment bank is refusing to hold shares for people. I guess they dont care about retail, the FSA is reforming some rules and fees I think.
iii mentioned that in their reasoning, maybe its all becoming too expensive to operate for people with less then 10k

If you refuse to do anything at all. I wonder if they would sell and send you a cheque, sounds extreme

I expect they have 'sold the book' to another firm and intend that you have no choice in your new broker. You might like to argue another choice, I doubt you'd get a certificate for free though

Thanks, it is apparently a paperwork exercise has I see it. Barclays Stockbrokers Ltd. and Barclays Sharedealing are transferring their business to Barclays Bank PLC.
I just wasn't too keen on being under the Barclays Bank umbrella after recent events over the pond and saw this as a possible freebie ecape route. I'll have to do some reading up on the "competitive" nominee accounts on offer. I'm a refugee from Albert Sharpe and George Schwab if anyone remembers them and didn't join Barclays voluntary.
The current value is many times in excess of £10k.
