That's interesting. So you didn't use any energy while with those suppliers or did you settle up using a different payment method?

Yes, and I'm not suggesting they have the right to set up a new DD without following the correct process and informing customers in advance. What isn't yet clear to me is whether they have assumed the right to take over the existing DD agreements of One Select. Presumably not as I see a new DD listed for Together this morning and will now be cancelling the old one.

Still haven't had final bills from either Octopus or First Utility! Octopus are definitely struggling to reconcile Iresa accounts and I suspect First Utility are having similar problems with Usio.:)
Had a conversation with Octopus some time ago, when they seemed happy for me to settle any balance (when finalised) by card payment.

I haven't seen any sign of a new DD on my account, or any further communications about a Together Energy account being set up.

Together energy just emailed me inferring that I hadn't supplied the information they had asked for. Looks like someone is trying to cover their backsides as like many others I have never received an email requesting my details and meter readings. Wonder how long before this lot go bust.

We recently asked that you click on the link below and confirm the relevant details.

The only account number I could see when I filled out their form 10 days ago, was the number I had with One Select??

I sent my meter readings, only to receive a request for them several days later. Not impressed; as others have noted, they're prioritising DDs, who knows how much money they'll take from our accounts before we can change supplier?

Ironically, I was in dispute with OneSelect about the raising of my DD from about £40 to £54, despite being in credit by almost £100. As soon as they notified me, I replied telling them not to increase my DD, and noting that their monthly amount was based on my previous year's usage, which this year was the same. I know they received the email, because they replied to it - but they merely said they would review the matter. I was very unhappy when the next payment was taken at the new, higher amount.

So, I complained, demanding my DD be reduced to its original level, and the additional amount refunded. Before the next payment, this whole collapse and takeover happened. You won't be surprised to learn that the new DD has been set up for the amount I disputed!

Like many others, I'll probably change supplier as soon as the switch is complete, but who knows how long this will really take, how many they can cope with, the errors they'll make along the way, and the time we'll have to wait for credit balances to be refunded?

Had two emails from one select one advising increase to £120 per month and the next an increase to £145 per month. I emailed back asking why the increase but heard no more. No increase was made and the new provider is taking the usual payment of £106 in January.

Same here. I complained. Got an acknowledgment, but no actual response. After eight weeks I was just about to request a referral to the ombudsman when they went pop.

In hindsight, it's pretty obvious OneSelect were just desperate for some extra cash.:)

The major reason that advance notice is required to alter any particulars (date, amount, frequency, etc) of a direct debit amount is so that the payer can object to the supplier if they do not agree to the change.

If the supplier continues to go ahead with the advised change without the payer's agreement, then the payer would, imho, have every right to request a full and immediate refund from their bank under the DD guarantee.

Note that a bank cannot refund partially (e.g. the amount of the increase) but can only refund the whole amount collected that is the subject of the dispute.

Therefore it makes no sense for any supplier to increase the amount to be collected unless they can be sure it is justified, as the supplier risks getting nothing unless and until they can.

But a great conspiracy theory :T

Yes, I know how the DD guarantee works thank you.

    Really?

And yet that is what OneSelect did, and Outfoxthemarket have done as well. See other threads, And OneSelect never provided me with any justification for the increase in eight weeks.

Using the DD guarantee to reclaim money is all very well, but may well prompt the supplier to claim you are in breach of contract. I don't want to go there, thank your very much. And since OFGEM protects credit balances, I face no additional risk.

I believe that the best tactic is to complain to the supplier.

It's not a conspiracy theory. I don't think you understand what it's like to run a business that's staring insolvency in the face,
