Whilst i cancelled my DD with oneselect last week, my bank has informed me that the new company could quite easily set up a new direct debit using the bank account details given to them by Oneselect, which they can do even if you've cancelled the OneSelect DD.
So far together have sent me 2 DD notifications, the first seemed to say first DD to be taken at the end of jan, the second on the 27th december. Both said they were taking the amount as my regular DD to Oneselect (rather than inflated due to the increase in price by about 30%).
I chose not to increase my monthly oneselect DD, when they suggested the winter uplift thing, so my payment was 1/12 of my annual expected costs, (so about 1/16 my expected together energy costs).
At least the new tariff is showing on price comparison sites now. and they haven't bumped up the DD at this time of year

They can, but it will take them about 8 working days to set up a new instruction and you'll see it appear in online banking several days before it pays out. It would be rather naughty of them to set up a new DD without going through the due process.

That number has form for being from an accident claims company, so probably not.

I received the email saying sorry for the data breach. To be honest, i am not really impressed so far, I still dont know my DD set up, or how much more it will cost, but at least I can leave penalty free once this information is revealed.
Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!

A company cannot set up a new DD without your permission. If you tell your bank it's not authorised then they will cancel it.

The Together OS December 2018 tariff isn't shown on MSE Energy Club or uswitch although it is in comparethemarket. Amazingly the latter didn't find any tariff cheaper than Together. Obviously energy prices have gone up a lot since I fixed with OneSelect.

We have a very large house & consumption is high (11K KWH electricity & 68K KWH gas). It will cost £50-60/month more but as soon as possible I am going to fix for 2 years with a Big Six provider as I can see energy prices soaring after the inevitable collapse of the value of the pound post-Brexit balls-up & I don't want the hassle of going with another minnow & then going out of business.

Wholesale energy prices have spiked over the past few months. Whether they continue to rise or this is temporary is anyone's guess. Personally I think there is more risk of the pound strengthening once the Brexit uncertainly passes, whatever the eventual outcome, which will be a pain for those of us holding substantial global assets.

I found that the Together deemed tariff was cheaper than they currently offer their normal customers. Overall I doubt I'll end up worse off than if I'd gone with a big six tariff a couple of years ago. I'll consider fixing in the summer when supply and demand are more in my favour, but I don't fancy the risk of locking in at peak prices.

I've just checked my Online banking, and Together Energy are now showing in the direct debit payees list, despite me cancelling the OneSelect DD previously. So Together have done exactly what my bank seems to had previously suggested, and set up the DD using the bank details they've obtained from the OneSelect Administrators/Ofgen,

    yes, rather naughty of them...

They're not supposed to, but they have. I could cancel their permission, but what is to stop them just setting it up again ?
