quiet_advisor wrote:You have my sympathy - I had a similar experience last year at Longton, Stoke on Trent.
However, I was subsequently tackled by the store security manager, who then banned me from the store, saying that they had had problems with customers switching price labels.
He agreed that this was not the case in this instance (otherwise I would have sued the socks off Tesco), but went on to say that the store was entitled to ban anyone it liked, without giving a reason.
eek! I've stopped shopping there really after they were nasty about taking coupons one day (only 10% of the shop even though I had bought the products! It was manufacturer sent-out coupons too to replace a faulty product). Maybe they are having problems with shop lifters, price swappers, bargain hunters....and are scrambling to try and make up the cash off of customers. However I'd hate to get banned as it would mean I can't stop by on the off chance to get my digital photos printed or pop into baby changing whilst going to Next next door0 -
perhaps everyone whose had hassle should complain to watchdog and they might pick up the story

hi guys looks like everyone has been having a few problems at tescos well here's another mis price that may or not be at your store. While looking for the misprices already listed i didnt find any but instead found that tesco's veneson (?) prime steak was wrongly priced. it was priced at 19.00 kg on the shelf but 20.00 kg on the pack. So i bought 5 packs and went to C/S i have never used tescos policy but got my money back - £26 or so and 5 packs of steaks!!!! yum! I went to a store about 40 mins away hoping they would have the mistake too but they didnt. so good luck to you all!0

I love venison, but as they charge so much for it I usually end up compromising and buying their venison burgers when they have them at two packs for £4 (which seems to happen fairly regularly)
But at this newly discovered price I can afford venison steaks! Thanks to all who post constructively.

With all these errors on meat cropping up, you have to wonder if they've been there all along and only now been spotted! I'd never have thought of remembering what the price on the shelf was previously!0

That was my exact thought yesterday, and I wondered just how many times I may have been overcharged in the past without actually realising it :eek:0 -
So lets get this straight,
I have to Get
Venison
Lamb
Chops
Chicken Thighs
Single Cream
Orange Juice
&
Tea
Bloody Hell, this is longer than my own Shopping list!!!

neither the single cream BOGOF offer or the orange juice were available in my local Tescos yesterday, so maybe that's regional
Might make your shopping list a bit shorter0 -
quiet_advisor wrote:I had bought six bottles of wine and realised, after paying for them, that I had been overcharged. This was not the first time at Longton, who appeared at that time to have experienced significant difficulty in meeting their legal obligations regarding pricing display legislation. They continued to overcharge for wine (shelf price vs checkout price) even after they were told about it, so I had no qualms about buying another six bottles. ( I subsequently spoke to Trading Standards and the advice there was that the store is commiting the offence, not the customer. However, they went on to say that the Tesco policy on refunds is voluntary - they don't have to do it).
Giving the refund is not voluntary as I understand it- allowing you to keep the item is. I fail to see why Trading Standards were not all over Tesco like a ton of bricks in this case though, surely if they've continued to display a misleading price for the goods even after a customer has drawn it to their attention, then that would have been a super easy prosecution for them?
I am not what I'd call a bolshy consumer- I don't want to become a regular at the customer service desk so I'm going to be selective about the goods I see here that I try for a refund on. However we should all bear in mind that every time you see a price ticket on the shelf that indicates a cheaper price for an item than it scans up as, the shop is breaking the law and potentially ripping off other less clued up customers. If I am ever mistreated by Tescos while trying to claim my discount, my next call will be to Trading Standards with full details of the items that they are overcharging for.0 -
Why oh why are all the mis-prices on meat???? I feel like I am really missing out here as I don't eat the stuff. Can anyone find we a mis-price on a nice nut cutlet please?? Hee hee :-)0
