Pleased to say that I managed to save £887 this month, which means... I've smashed my target! Pretty happy about that! £6400 saved so far and my target for the year was £6k.

I set a target that was £2k above what I saved last year, and I'm now £400 above the target, still with December to go. I'm going to do the same for next year and set a target that's around £2k over what I end up saving this year...
  • Seemed to miss the October update so reporting £849.67 for October, and £1021.60 for November, which brings me pretty much to my £12k target a month early. Though expecting December to be an expensive much so keeping my fingers crossed I’ll still be on target at the end of the year!

The Christmas tree is officially up - how are we here already?!

Finally, I've had a good month; I'm happy to report savings of £1,094.36 plus mortgage overpayments of £49.94 for November. The OH has started contributing to mortgage overpayments too, so the real figure is higher than that.

Good things that happened this month:
    • We stuck to the budget rigidly for once - yay :)
    • Amex cashback month - woo!
    • Meeting with IFA - he's very happy with me :A
    • We've agreed to round our mortgage payments up, which means a minimum regular overpayment of £30 per month

I'm going to look at an S&S ISA next year. I've gone back and forth on this, because I want to keep most of my money in cash (as it will likely be spent within the next 5 years), but looking at how well my pensions are doing it does feel like I'm missing out on growth. So my plan for 2020 is to round savings, collect a pot, and when it hits c. £100 put it into a S&S ISA. That way my regular savings shouldn't suffer, and I'm only investing "extra" cash. And effectively it will be drip-feeding, but irregularly, so no commitment to invest more but still not doing very large lump sums. Any thoughts on this from the S&S ISA gurus on here?

    # 68 here. Meagre savings for me this month £214.86 but we are net spenders now we have both stopped our full time careers (may have retired). I need to keep an eye on how fast the pots are diminishing

I know where you're coming form Suffolk Lass; I may retire (fully) next year, and it will take a huge psychological shift to stop saving and start running bank accounts down. Especially as one needs to front-load spending in those early years of retirement.

I'm reporting £2500 saved in November. everything is bought or money is set aside for Christmas and I've a couple of regular savers maturing shortly so December shouldn't hold any shocks (unless shares fall badly).

Nearly there everyone! One more month!

#6 reporting in with £5,285.89 for November, making £72,180.04 for the year so far. Won't be quite as good next month, but will clear my £75k target - very pleased with this year, as started with a £50k target and will have beaten it by more than 50% :D

hi all no. 15 here reporting £978.35 for November, bringing my yearly total so far to £10,267.47. It will take a pretty big stretch from here for me to reach target. It's not impossible though. I have gone down one day per week this year in terms of work, so that has made it trickier. Even so, onward and upward. December I haven't got any big bills coming hopefully so that should help. :)
