Hi All, late to the game, but willing and able!
SF please add me for £8000
I don't have a big income so this target will be tough, but I'll give it my best shot. I've had some big purchases in 2018 and keen to get back to where I was at in savings. I like having some rainy day / running away money put by.
I've joined the grocery challenge too.
Going to read about tilly tallying...A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks0 -
Hi everyone, happy new year!
Did the challenge in 2017 but wasn't able to get on it last year as (now) hubby and I were planning for a wedding and most of our savings went towards the costs. I was still following the thread just to stay motivated.
I plan to challenge myself this year as we have a two year plan to save for a house deposit now.
SlowlyFading, kindly put me down for £25,000 this year.

@SlowlyFading can you pop me down as well for £12k.
This year I've got nothing but SAVE, SAVE, SAVE money! I'm going to stick my maxed out Cash ISA in to Marcus and then crack on with saving each month. It'll be interesting to see where this goes.

We have been looking at batteries and the lack of standardisation feels like the days when Video was introduced - massive debate about VHS vs Beta-max formats where you just have to step back and wait for the technology to settle a bit. While widely considered the better format, Beta-Max lost the market share and became defunct (except for those who own them). Think of it like Dash-cams. They used to cost hundreds. I saw one in Aldo's last week for £34.99... There you go. Have I persuaded you?
Thanks Suffolk Lass. You make a good point. I’ll hold fire on that purchase.0 -

I've finally bought my first ever stocks and shares!! I've opened a LISA - currently only have £100 in there, but intend to top it up over the next three paydays to get the £4000 maximum in for this year. Then next year I'll open one for my husband (we used his cash LISA this year to buy a house). I'm aiming for £12k, so the vast majority of that is likely to be in our LISAs.MFW2023 challenge #99: £1090.11 / £1,000 MFiT-T6 (Jan 2022 - Jan 2025) challenge #99: Reduce mortgage to £400,000. Increased the mortgage overpayment to £288/month towards the half of our mortgage with the higher interest rate. Increasing again next month and according to the MSE overpayment calculator, it will finish the month I turn 60 rather than 66. That's hugely exciting!
Costed up making a crustless quiche for work breakfasts and lunches. It will save me about £150/month which can also go into savings. If I'm consistent, I may hit my savings target in August which gives me the option of setting a higher one."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000
