Going along with other posters, I have transferred £500 to my Marcus account, leaving enough money in my main account for bills etc.

This is a radical departure for me, especially as I get paid at odd times during the month, so seeing a small amount in the main account is very scary. If I stick to it though, along with the tilly tidying, I should be able to make substantial savings and cut down on my spendthrift ways :T

So, today I have £751.44 in savings overall

Hi, can I join please? Trying to save for a deposit this year so aiming for £12k.
So far this month I've transferred £400 to my regular saver and £500 to the LISA. I need to pay off my CC just after payday so can't see February being this good!

Arranged to overpay the mortgage by an extra £25/month - that makes the new overpayment to £137.65/month, and reduces the term by 1 year and 5 months. My big goal is to get the mortgage paid off so I no longer need to commute into the City, and can get a local job paying less but not requiring 5 hours commuting a day, so I can have a bit of a life. At the moment the mortgage will be paid off when I'm 64 and 6 months; I want that date to come down and down. I hate the thought of still having to commute in my sixties (it's bad enough in my fifties!). As I tweak bits of the budget, I'll add another £25 to the regular overpayment each month as and when I can. Needless to say any payrises will be 'ignored' in favour of increasing the mortgage repayments. I need to balance it with the requirements to finish doing up the house and developing the land - we bought a pretty derelict Victorian smallholding last year, and everything that could go wrong did go wrong.

  • I am in for 5000$. Please put me in.
  • Form submitted for January, managed £300 this month. Happy with that considering the start point was really -£200!

Better than I expected this month thanks to mortgage cashback coming in at a timely point. :)

Happy with this month's savings start. This has been helped by improvements in stock market performance and banking my Christmas and birthday gift money.

  • I saved all my spare change through the year last year, I know that was 2018, but I only got around to changing it up yesterday so instead of spending it in h&m like I would have done before I'm adding it to my Jan savings :) £40 not massive but better than nowt :)
Will submit my update form when payday comes around and I can look at what there is.
