Please can I be included in this challenge? I'm aiming for £12,000.

I'm planning to include my mortgage overpayments in this as well as money put into regular saving accounts.

    Thanks

At the start of the 2019 thread I thought I'd post the totals everyone has saved right the way back to the start in 2012 - over £7.7 million saved in total - amazing!

I've managed to save £15 so far this month ha! Not actually that bad considering I went nuts over Christmas and I don't get paid until the end of Jan...

I find keeping a record of all my spends and doing a 'sweep' of my current account every few days is helping. Instead of using that spare cash to buy random, unnecessary things I am sticking it straight into my savings account.

Might be a good time for me to look into opening an ISA I think...
  • Slowly fading - sorry to be a pain. Can I change my goal from £6000 to £7000? Having finally sat down and done the budget we are planning to save £500 a month as standard and so I'm challenging myself to find the extra over the year. Thanks!

How interesting - I am so tempted to post a further update to round-up my total up but I need it for 2019. Thank you for doing this.

Total is at around £40.00 so far! This month will be pretty low because I am paying for our Summer holiday but should be able to save significantly more as the months go on :D

Got my first payslip of 2019 today - payday is this Thursday.
I hated when they changed over our pay dates from the last Friday of the month to the 10th, but I really appreciate being paid so early in January :rotfl:
Done the budget and after all outgoings etc, I will be able to save £1301.12 this month :T

  • Hi

Is it too late to join? I am new to this so not sure how to get a number?

I would love to save 12k this year. Mortgage will be paid off in Aug so most of it will come later on, but it will be great to “start saving” rather than “paying off” debt.

    Thanks
