  • Hi SF,
Any chance I can still join in, pretty please?
I would like my target to be £6k. Haven't been saving in a while, so really need the motivation.
    Thank you in advance, Libby

£180 saved so far - £30 to Regular saver, £150 to IFSA.

Hoping to squeeze some extra savings from the budget throughout the month but won’t know how much (if any :D ) until later in the month.

At the start of the 2019 thread I thought I'd post the totals everyone has saved right the way back to the start in 2012 - over £7.7 million saved in total - amazing!

Thanks for this geoffers. It's really interesting to see how I did across various years and how my savings have developed since I started this challenge. I don't have the full amount I've saved over the years as some has been spent on various things we needed, like new (to us) cars that we were able to pay for in cash and a chunk of money from savings was sent over to my pension pot last year.
  • Hello, can I join in please? Would like to aim for £6,000 :)

  • Well I've managed to put away £1,000 this month. Thought I wouldn't make it due to a tax bill this month.

  • I need to figure out how to calculate my savings. Currently I have a 123 current account which has savings + is used for all spending. Then I have a separate low interest savings account with a few k sat in it. So, I need to work out how I calculate what's saved.

I would keep it separate, then you KNOW how much has been saved. Write a budget based on your monthly bills, monthly spending etc. Anything that's left over that you don't want to spend during the month goes into the other account. Being in a separate account, you'll be less tempted to spend it and more mindful of the money you have in the 123 account - so wiser about how you spend.

There are regular savers that can give up to 5% per month, or instant access savings accounts that do about 1.5% - all details in the 'Banking & Savings' section on MSE site.

    Hello SF,
Can I please join this years challenge? My target at the moment realistically £6,000 if that is okay.

    Take care,
    Sylvia
