  • Hey folks. I just did another account rounding and transferred $89.21 to my savings account. That brings me to $132.86.
  • Put me down for £4000, first time trying this challenge! Has anyone got any hints or tips?

More tilly tidying. Another £3.53 gone to savings today.

I keep looking at the amount in the savings account and go

I have never saved so much over such a short space of time. It's kind of exciting. Just need to keep the momentum up.

    Hi TubbyDown

There are several discussions in the thread about strategies but the one I can recommend is tilly tidying. That is when you 'tidy' up the balance in your bank account and transfer it to savings. For example, I check my bank account online and find that I have £553.21. I will then either transfer the £3.21 or the 21p to savings. You will find that your savings really add up without you noticing.

    Hope this helps

I've decided to tilly tidy this year, on Wednesdays and Sundays, it's amazing how it adds up. :)
  • I think I'm going to open a Marcus account. Then I can shift my ~£24k into it and pay myself from it each payday. Then my 123 current account will be for receiving wages/etc and paying for bills, food etc etc.

This would allow me to pay myself, keep the 1.5% interest and limit my spending based on what's left over. Sound sensible?

I've just made a similar change which has really helped. I found that keeping savings in with the current account just meant there was too much going on and I lost track of savings pots.

That's good to know. Thanks, I think that's what I'll do!

One of the most simple ways of saving money is what I call the account tidy (though people on here call it the Tilly Tidy!) - I have a whole post on it here:
